I think that you shouldn't bench in DX9. Yes !
When AMD had 64-bit and Intel had only 32-bit, they tried to tell the world there was no need for 64-bit. Until they got 64-bit.
When AMD had IMC and Intel had FSB, they told the world "there is plenty of life left in the FSB" (actual quote, and yes, they had *math* to show it had more bandwidth). Until they got an IMC.
When AMD had dual core and Intel had single core, they told the world that consumers don't need multi core. Until they got dual core.
When intel was using MCM, they said it was a better solution than native dies. Until they got native dies. (To be fair, we knocked *unconnected* MCM, and still do, we never knocked MCM as a technology, so hold your flames.)

Thank you, OverClocker_gr, for your hard work, but please ignore vietthanhpro. He doesn't want to believe your review simply because the NDA hasn't ended yet. I guess nothing can convince him now. (And no, he's not lo squartatore. I can confirm it. )

Based on OverClocker_gr's results, I have made a table comparing Core i7 920 2.66GHz with Turbo Mode on with Phenom 2 920 2.80GHz. With one more speed bin, the Core i7 should be at 2.80 too, so I think it's good for clock-for-clock comparison.

Vozer, I think it is hard for any of us to believe what we see. Stock performance for my current 9850 is great but OC sucks not even 100mhz above stock is stable with 64bit OSes when AMD testers showed Agenas getting 3Ghz out of the box. I getting the 940 come hell or intel but I'm only cautiously optimistic it will get over 3Ghz.

    Good job

Eh...I wonder how a Q6600@2.66GHz can perform in this resolution I don't want to flame, but I argue with a guy who says that a Q6600@2.66GHz can outperform Phenom II 940 in Crysis (naturally, he is a fan of Crysis and 3DMark )

thanks for the comaro.. only thing i the Cinebench scores for i7 are all wrong?? perhaps you've grabbed 64bit scores for i7, and 32bit for phenom as the i7 scores are higher than they should be if all 32bit.

    cheers

Wow, that's disappointing considering your rig. I wonder if it's the board? FYI in my ~3.00 OC, my stability test was installing Vista 64. It's very stable.

Well I've seen on my own 2 940's hitting 3,6-3,7 GHz on air and 100% stable in Vista x64, and these are rather crappy parts.
    So don't worry :P

This is news I was waiting for!!
    Thanks bedlamite!

I'm using only 64bit OSes on my main RIG because I needed to relocate my XP MCE to HTPC BOX. Besides I'm planning upgrading my rig to 8GB of RAM soon.

Thank you very much for taking the time to do that, Vozer; however, I was more interested in the clock-per-clock comparisons of Yorkfield to Deneb. I knew Deneb wouldn't catch i7. That thing is Godzilla on steroids.

Does AMD's OverDrive apply settings directly to BIOS?

some boards can override it in. bios other can't. like jetways 780gx and 780g can override it. while the s790fx boards I've had don't.

HondaGuy I feel like your chips got alot left in it for that voltage.

Specially since your hypertransport and northbridge clock are at stock.

Not to mention you seem to have made skill's with phenom's getting a 9850BE to 3.7
