    Hi.

I'm totally new to the overclocking scene and I wanted to learn the hard way by buying the P45 T2RS +.

I've read a lot, and tried a bunch of things. What I am aiming for is a 24/7 nice FSB. I was looking toward a ~4ghz CPU and maybe a synch with my ram, if it does improve performances (so 533mhz as my ram is pc8500, unless I'm wrong about synchronisation).

I've tried to got as much informations as possible before posting here, but I kind of need you guys on this one.

Most of the time, guides talk about Cpu, ram and NB voltages. But when I'm tweaking my T2RS+ and reading you guys, I see new words like Cpu PLL and GTL ratios. And these notions are not explained in the mobo booklet.

Could you explain to me the use or tell me somewhere where I could get informations about these notions? I'm really willing to learn without bothering the members of this forums all the time, but I'm somehow lost here.

    Here is my hardware:

    CPU: 8400 E0 @ Stock / Watercooled 28°C idle
    Corsair Dominator PC8500 5 5 5 15 @ 2.2V
    Dfi LanParty DK P45 T2RS + Bios 1003
    Corsair HX520

I tried to go as high as 429 FSB, after that no boot to windows.
429 boots windows but freezes after 2 minutes of occt.
    I've only modified the Cpu V (Till 1.3), Ram (always 2.2v) and NB V ( till 1.25).

Thanks a lot, and sorry to bother you. Still learning and willing to!

    Edit (11/9):

Well, I can boot and run XP @ 495 FSB (6x495).
I did an OCCT for 30 minutes and it ran well. I'll do heavier tests when I'm done.
    Here are the settings:

    CPU: 1.34V
    NB: 1.25V
    VTT: 1.23V
    RAM: 2.2V

    GTLs: 63x 63x 61x

Can't boot at 533, won't even post. Do you guys know a way too boot with the previous settings without clearing the CMOS when the alarm beeps and the screen displays the bios checksum/floppy/keyboard error (bad settings error I suppose)?

    Thanks a lot.

Hey guys, I am hoping someone can help me out with some advice.
I have this board with http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/support...0/ASC-39320-R/ with 2 Fujistu MAU 3147NP drives.
If I attempt to run them in RAID 0, then you can't boot past the scsi bios.
If you allow em to be seen as individual drives, you are ok.
I had this running on another DFI board, the 975 Infinity with no worries.
It appears to be a hardware conflict of some description.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks

I haven't been posted for some time as I get sick and was in hospital

1st thing I have some annoying issue with hdd sleep mode. I've set in Vista power plan to get my hdds sleep after short period 1min. 1st is SSD, system rather keeps it in use and even if it sleeps it wakes up instantly.
One can ask why so short sleep period - to keep system silent. I had other hdd, Samsung S1 Spinpoint, well it isn't loud but I can hear it, besides I like idea of saving some energy too It's storage drive I use it rarely (however Vista sometimes wake it without any reason I don't know what for )
The issue is, when it waking up all system freez till it's fully started. This makes me mad grrrrr! I can't even move mouse cursor. It's even more frustrating when I'm doing something important or wathing movie/playing game and the drive shouldn't be in use but Vista think the opposite. I don't like system use disk without reasen but it wouldn't be so annoying if it hadn't freez everything
What coud cause this? What can I possibly try to get my system not freezing when hdd starting from sleep mode? It's now connected to Intel controller in AHCI mode.
I'm posting in this thread before starting other becouse maybe this is our mobo issue.
Anyone can check this please by setting power saving for short time and then accessing the drive after it gone to sleep?

Thanks for making the test I asked. It's really good to know. Seems still much fun waits for me with this board. I'll try to get some better scores (then mine actual) when get some more time and better cooling than stock one btw. how do you cool NB with default heatsink?

About GTL maybe this going to help http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=202292
You can also try different 1:1 settings 333/667 or 400/800.
1.25V can be not enough for 533MHz FSB.
Check ABS feature of your board to avoid resetting cmos each time OC fails.

hold down 'Home' button after restart/power on, it will boot the default fsb but will keep your settings so you won't have to set it all again

    Hi

I am looking for mobo which can reach FSB 600MHz for 24/7 use. My question is, does anyone have got so far? I have read this thread in first page to last page and havenīt got the answer. I have Biostar TPower I45 mobo and I have reached stable FSB to 550MHz but that is not enough

maybe try Diamond Flash Image version instead, never had any problems using it.

i could'nt do over 400fsb untill i set mem subtimings abit, if you are on auto, that doesn't help.

    @ angkies,

    Nice going

Use the normal DK Smartguardian not the Plus version one so the mod skin displays correctly.

You can correct the BIOS version by closing SG, opening the smart.ini in notepad & changing the BIOS version value in label option 19 then save the adjusted .ini over the installed file. You need to restart SG to see the change.

I had recently killed a P5K-E and replaced it with a DFI LP P45 TR2+, I have not had much of a chance to overclock it until now and I cant get close to where I was with the ASUS board. With the ASUS board, I was 3d stable 24/7 with 3.6 (450x8), and I could do pi runs, and 3d bench to 3.8. With my DFI I can get 3.4 stable 24/7 but I cant even get 3.5 to run 3d mark, and anything above 3.55 wont even run spi 1M. Suggetsions?

    Current Setup:
    Q6600
    Tuniq Tower.
Corsair Dominator 1066 5-5-5-15 (good up to 2.3v)
    DFI LP P45 TR2+
    4870 1 gig
PC Power & Cooling 750 Watt Psu.

    To hit 3.5ghz I run:
1.328 vcore (+150 mV in bios)
    2.2 vdimm
    1.37 NB
    .63x/.64x on the cpu refs
    .67 on the nb ref
    8x multi
    440 fsb
I forget the exact memory divider, but I think its 5:6 in cpu-z. I ran memtest overnight with the ram at 5-5-5-15, 2.2v, 1059mhz and it passed with no problems what so ever, so I do not think it is a memory issue. What it may be is the CPU was damaged when the ASUS mobo died, the graphics card may be damaged from the crash (everything works fine at stock however, no issues what so ever), but that would not account for super pi and prime 95 errors at higher clocks. Any suggestions?

Got my hands on the ddr3 version of this board DFI UT P45-T3RS some of the straps are a bit quirky but the 400 one rocks
First time i've got this far on a DFI ddr3 board.

Not sure how it compares to the DK P45-T3RS ?

    Fine OC!

I'll get 600MHz FSB myself in some time.
Still on stock cooling and now after closing my rig in HTPC case 9x450 have to be enough. Even up to 50C idle on both cores (= CPU Temp up to 40C o_O).
important: I've checked SpeedFan and noticed than "core temps" differs about 10C from "cpu temp"! which is displayed in bios and SG.
As core temps are true temps inside the chip and CPU temp is TCase temp and this is the same temp which given by SG/BIOS. Be careful not to fry your CPUs!!!

Anyway I've put stuff to the case at last. Choice was OrigenAE S16V. Layout inside quite similar to Zalman HD160, but outer design of the case is pleasing me much more
    ref: http://www.origenae.com/en/htpc_s16v.htm

I'm during logistic how to assemble LiquidCooling to it. Then I gona squize some juice

    @fiveprime
Maybe my advice won't be what you expect but try different memory dividers, it could be crucial. Besides recheck all you voltage tuning. This board seems to give different voltages than set (at least measured by software).

The TR2 version is DDR2 only correct? It seems like this board loves the 45nm cores but not the 65nm, my Q6600 is a great chip but it just dosnt work in this board, hopefully when I get watercooled I'll be abelt o make some progress.

I think ABS is just a BIOS profile tool, the plus version, if I'm not mistaken, has upgraded memoyr standards.

ABS = Auto Boost System.... see here......http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/16...ted/index.html

I can tell no difference performance wise between my DK's & my UT although the UT feels stronger its less finicky and a lot more tweak-able & EZ Clear is cool.

The Plus version of the DK has 2 more SATA ports over the std version & in most cases has the A3 revision of the P45 chip. IMO the A2/A3 P45 revision makes no difference, they both clock fine.

    P.S Happy Christmas everybody

so clock for clock they the same?
Depends on what you want to do with the board I guess. If you bench forever then I doubt the extra $90 would get you anywhere but for me the UT is just a bit slicker all round. I have relegated my DK's to work machines & have kept the UT for home to run my e8500.

There is a small (20~25fsb) difference between my DK, DK Plus & UT but I bet you would find the same difference in another 3 boards so nothing to write home about.

Clock for clock my 3 boards stand shoulder to shoulder.

I don't really go for max fsb I just give them a quick spank just to find out where the boards peak efficiency is & on my boards its around 560fsb.

It also depends what you call stable & with what cooling but we wont get into that, 630fsb is about the max I've run on the UT on air. 645fsb ish is about the max I've done on the non plus DK with my one & only C0 E8500 on phase, the NB was still on air & the board felt like it had more to give.
