So you use AHCI now and it still freezes? You also installed drivers from CD? Can try to uninstall drivers and see if it will help any This is driving me crazy I have exact same problem as you, with moving mouse and white Firefox screen (if it is FF that is running)

yeah its the same problem, it seems to be seagate drives themselves that r causing problems, some ppl managed to take care of the problem by upgrading to new firmware, SD35 or something, u cant just obtain new firmware via seagate site, u need to talk to the support to get one

About the "HDD freezes" guys, FYI i had very similar problem, solved it with replacing the stock SATA cables, that Asus provides with this board.

Try doing so if you havent done it already.

I had the same problems with the latest Intel Matrix Drivers. I would get a BSOD while gaming or just while surfing the net. I got the iastor.sys error. I never had that problem with the previous matrix drivers. I didn't change any hardware, it all started with the newest driver. I reformatted my HD and went back to the previous driver for the intel matrix ahci and haven't had a BSOD since. I think its the newest drivers their forked....

I trying to get stable with my e8400 on 4200mhz (467x9.0) 1.352vcore, 1.26vNB, 1.20vFSB. Chip "almost" stable on this vcore, but i dont want to rise vcore higher . What you people can advise to change in bios for better stability?

    Whats your PLL set to?
May want to adjust GTL's a bit if you have not yet.

1.52 for the PLL is good, maybe try 1.54v on it tho after tweaking the gtl's if needed.
o/2 should coincide to Workers 1/2 in Prime95. Run Prime95 Blend, and if 0/2 ie workers 1/2 fail first, adjust that gtl. If workers 3 or 4 fail first, try adjusting 1/3 gtls. Tweak gtl's in small increments and retest.

It's not because it's not stable that you just up the voltages. With P45 and 45nm CPU's you need to find the sweetspot... I have no idea why you set some settings so out of proportion, not stable just up one more ?

And not all E8400/8500 CPU's do 4.5 stable 24/7... if I was you I would use 4.2 daily and try to find the lowest Vcore possible if you have not already damaged your current CPU with them voltages...

Plz read up first on how to OC and not just apply ridicilous voltages

I'm sorry if this might have sounded a bit rough but you are wasting perfect hardware due to inexperience and maybe an impossible goal

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

30 mins mean nothing... use these settings as a guideline, maybe you can use less volts, but change only one setting at a time... otherwise you will get lost (like I'm doing at the moment with the Giga mobo pffffff)

I won't go into the technical Mumbo jumbo of that value ( as i hardly understand a word of that ) Mostly we noticed with the board that it wrongly detects the TRFC value, with 55 you are pretty sure it will work with any module... for 1GB modules you can tighten to eg 42. With 2gb dimms 55 and higher is sort of a must... but like I said before my templates proposed are guidelines and not specific required values. They have suited me well on this board and mostly you can run with a bit less, but that's for you to discover as each board/CPU/ram combo is different...

    Hope it helps

    Hope it helps
thanks, but i still dont understand what it can give to me? Better performance, better stability or smth else? I set it on 55 and haven't noticed any difference.

extra stability with 2GB dimms (Asus bios recognised my dimms with 50TRFC ), in your case not required try 42 or such
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree
