They are the same exact board, except for the NB cooling, it should work without any issues.

I tried to rename the bios to a extreme bios and it doesn't work. So the ud5 F4N bios does not work with EX58-extreme.

i am on f4n now, and for the last 2 hours ive been trying to get stable @ 4ghz and 4.1ghz with turbo on HT on, but i cant , i think it wants more voltage than what i needed for f4k,

also another thing i noticed,

cpu clock drive 700mv default on f4n
pci e clock drive 700mv default on f4n

on f4k cpu clock drive 800mv default
pci e clock drive 900mv

is there a reason for this ?
ive tried to change it to like the f4k was but still no good think it just wants more vcore and qpi/vtt v

i'll try for a bit more then im going back to f4k

800/900 are the default values (read it in the manual). F3 had the same 800/900 but all F4x versions till now defaulted to 700/700.

my f4k bios didnt , it was 800/900

and with f4n i need
1.39375v vcore
1.375v vtt/qpi
for 4ghz turbo on HT on

with f4k i needed 1.375v vcore and 1.315v qpi/vtt to be stable at 4ghz HT on , turbo on

I stumbled across this forum trying to solve my EasyTune problem and you had said to someone much earlier in the topic that it may have been a windows service causing it to error - I was wondering if you gave him a list of services enabled/disabled, or if anyone out there has found out why EasyTune is erroring for only some people. I'm running:

EX58-UD5, bios version F4N
Vista 64 Bit Ultimate

I previously had trouble with DES but now that works just fine.

The following error occurs:

On boot up, I get a GUI.exe has stopped working error, then "Windows Sockets Initialization" error. I have fresh installed Vista 4 times and still the same error.

Still unable to run 12gb. My windows installation got corrupted again. Have to reinstall again.

Latest progress: vcore 1.33v 23x 180 (4140mhz) 9hr blend stable. Bumped up to 185mhz, instant BSOD on load

Amazing that a few mhz on the bclk can be the difference between a 100000% stable system and an instant BSOD

Time to bump up the V.

I noticed undervoltage on vcore compared to bios, 1.35v = 1.33v, 1.362v = 1.344v, etc, does this happen with QPI/VTT voltage aswell? In fact what program do you use to check which VTT is being reported in windows?

This morning when I rebooted on F4l I got a Checksum error and it recovered to F2

Yeah, I need to do that next time.

I was running F4l and it was fine. I ran Prime95 and it passed 12 hours. I rebooted the system because I wanted to try upping the CPU multi and it went into a reboot loop and told me my bios had a checksum error. Then it proceeded to the recovery on its own and recovered to bios F2.

So from now on I'll be saving my bios with settings to a USB stick.

Yes. I was attempting to run at 12gb at 8-8-8-24 1600mhz, 1333mhz. I got bios corruption, bios reset to F3. This was 6*2 Corsair Dominator 1600mhz kits.

I tried this when I first got the board going from f3 to f4j. It resulted in a massive RAID0 +1 failure running on the IM, not the Gigabyte sata.

Gigabyte should have taken some notes on DFI's CMOS Reloaded.

Bclk 133*24 (25 with Intel Turbo). QPI mult 48, mem mult is 12.The xmp profile 1 sets QPI at 1.35 and vDram at 1.65 for 1600mhz.

Complete stock with ram running at 1333mhz and all voltages on auto still has errors.
