I can't get any audio on this board I've tried installing drivers in both Vista and XP and it never find any audio device. I checked through the BIOS and couldn't find any settings. Is there a jumped I need to set?

Edit: I found the setting in the BIOS under SB, and HDA is set to "enabled" yet still no audio device is found in Windows after installing the drivers

make sure you are using the correct rear panel sound output port for your speakers...i presume you are using dual speaker system so you want to use the light green port...refer to page 5 of your manual, section "1.4."

if that does not work, do the clear CMOS.

I picked up a new cpu on Black Friday. It looks like it can do around 500x9 with +0.150v vcore. Today I was doing some initial exploration with +0.250v vcore. I usually start testing chips on the TPower which makes for a more apples to apples comparison since it was my first P45/Wolfdale combo. (I'm using the Xigmatek with OCZ PC2-8500)

Ghost: do you have a front-panel header connected? If so, does it work properly?

the device is showing up, you are just not installing the driver correctly or using the incorrect driver.

Front-panel is installed, still no sound from it. Same results with using the green output on the back.

Yep, no dice. It's the exact same version as on their website. Biostar has R2.09, while Realtek has R2.10. Neither version works

That program you have doesn't pop up when I plug my headphones or desktop speakers in. Although I know the one you're talking about because my Asus P5Q Pro had it.

Did a clean install of Windows, then installed all the drivers off the CD. Still no dice. I would think if the sound device was fried, it would at least allow drivers to install, but then just not function. Instead, its not being visible at all in Windows...

That's the one on my video card, not the one on the motherboard. All HD 48xxx cards have HDMI audio output.

Well about all you can do at this point is have a look at the screen during boot where it lists all the devices attached, see if the onboard audio is listed. Use the pause key if its flashing by too fast. If its not listed then I'd say the board is bad. I'm sure you have it enabled in BIOS......

anyway of removing the 4870 and insert some other type video card just to see if the 4870 is cutting out the board sound card because of IRQ conflicts?
