The above illustrates my extremely crappy soldering skills. I was putting a new VGA d-sub end from an old dead CRT, onto a working CRT that had a faulty cable (you know when it starts losing R, G, and/or B...) To finish it off, I insulated it with tape, and then braced the join with a flattened out PCI expansion slot bracket, then taped that up to make it "neat" Worked like a charm, luckily I got the wiring correct.
Thats awesome, bet that card cranks out some Serious performance. Specially with the blocks on them like that.ammm its sort of like the 4870 x2 but instead if having the gpus on 1 pcb the 9800gx2 has 2 of them and are connect via connector that uses sli technology and it actually has 2 bridges that connect the 2 pcb's
here take a look
Soldering looks good to me! you should see the muffler I welded onto my car after I figured out I couldn't grind stainless steel down LOL. I usually just twist the wires together then plastic dip them. But this has inspired me to start soldering them, thank youThe above illustrates my extremely crappy soldering skills. Some modifications on the mod to make it even more ghettoer(does that word exist?).
Some hot glue to the board and dvd drive to make it more stable and a fan controller

So thats how you got it to stick to the wall LOLGamerBR![]()
Iniatially the wood boards here hang by just a screw on the wall,so it could spin, the dvd drive with only the screw was vibrating a little bit,now it's perfect, the motherboard was ok with only the screw, but I applied hot glue on it too.
The dvd drive is being hang on the wood board only by scotch tape(a lot of it),the fans and the hard disk are also being hang by only scotch tape. The fan controller is hot glued and the motherboard is being hang to the wood board by 5 hanger screws with a nut on the side of the motherboard and 1 on the other side of the wood board.
I've done a lot of ghetto mods.. lol

If you're walking by my house, see my radiator in person - complete with custom shroud:
worked well though, in October the lines were actually a bit wet from condensation.
Ghetto super cooling - canned air held upside down into a steel cup on my P4:
never did any real OC but it did get some cold readings in the BIOS
Some of that I came up with and some of it was ideas I got from forums but over all I've done a lot of ghetto stuff :p More pics of these on my mods site http://mods.333networks.com

About the oil cooled one,how was the temps? And did you clean it afterwards or just threw it in the garbage? It must be a pain in the ass to clean this.
i put a HR-05 SLI chipset heatsink on a wireless adapter. does that count?
Since I was using a torch anyway I thought it would look cool to burn the holes, still have that case in the attic but don't use it. After I needed the Oil PC parts in other places the motherboard and cards were hung from the ceiling in my basement over a bucket, then toweled off and used again but I never could get that little film of oil off the parts.

Today I put my old AMD Athlon XP cooler on my FX5500
Don't ask about temps, cause i forgot that the video card dead. LOL.

Thanks
I'm thinking I might put it on my 7900GS
I guess I could post some stuff I've done in the past...
Had to mount my biggest hard drive at the time, 400gb. Rubber bands worked well for a while, but being in a warm dry case, rubber bands tend to break. I found out later zip ties work pretty good as well. While the rubber bands help reduce noise, created by vibrations of the hard drive, I'm not sure how well the zip-ties work for noise reduction as they're quite a bit harder.
yay
haha, some really entertaining stuff in here!
Hello dudes, very good and bizarre mods here, must say one of the best threads I've seen here so far.I vote for sticky.
Leaving the bla bla bla, I'd like to do a mod. I'm soon getting a new cooler for my E8200 and I was thinking about using its stock cooler for cooling my HD4850. BIOS modded, fan start kickin 50% @ 50ºC and 100% when above 70ºC and undervolted...damn that thing is really loud at 100% but I dont mind when gaming, the problem is when summer hits here, (you know Brazil) it really get on my nerves .Of course I though about buying another cooler for the GPU, but anything here is stupidly expensive that I almost give up buying the cpu cooler! (Dont care about warranty too, because most of my hardware came directly from USA). My initial plan is to saw-off the video card heatsink enough to fit the stock CPU cooler, keeping the memory and PWM area with the stock card heatsink. Dont know if someone here already tried this mod, but I'm very interested doing it. Can someone confirm if stock 775 pushpin fits on the 4850?
if you want ghetto mods google darthbeavis, all my mods fit that category

ummm....me too...
I don't know where it is at...
