Excuse me I have two questions:

    A) Does the 4870X2 have the same issues and if so would an EK FC waterblock take care of it?

    B) If not the EK what is considered the best FC block out there for the 4870 X2
Hardware :Asus Rampage Extreme, 4870X2 (Crossfire X) EK FC Blocks, CPU Q9550@490FSB/4,180Ghz, RAM 4GB DDR3, Auzentech Prelude X-fi,PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 Watt,
    3 Loops with TFCs360 and a PA.120.2/DDCs.

I went with Danger Den, but I'm sure all of them are far better than air cooling.

How stable is your 865Mhz core overclock with the MCW60 + ramsink/mosfet sink combination?

I ask because i'm thinking of doing this too.
Is it game stable for long periods of time do you know? And is that on stock voltage? Questions, questions, questions

    hello i'm running at 880/1100 ! rock solid !! no problems(i'm using 8.9 )
don't worry about it as long as you increase the voltages or flash to a different bios (i'm very happy with the extreme-pc hd4870 maxx fps bios )

I think lots of you guys are using way too small VRM heatsinks.
The regs byproduce ~20W heat so slapping some tiny-winy RAM sinks on them won't be enough. And those Pulse inductors like to be cool too as the quality of the current they pass along depends on the temp of the device. Sure they can take 100ēC+, but...

I'm contemplating on snatching a PowerColor HD4870 PCS+ 1GB as I'm getting seriously bored to my age-old G92GTS. I would slap a MCW60 on it along with some hack-sawed alu sinks (salvaged from a CRT monitor):

Photographed on a Radeon X1800 for reference of it's dimensions.
The sink needs just some mounting holes and a little cutting to fit on a HD4870.
You were not supposed to see this.

We will also have a new variant ready to the end of the next week:

Both copper blocks are connected via a Delrin bridge so the voltage regulators are also watercooled
The block will cost 79,90 EUR.

They are on the backside like here (not that block!).

And yes, the water flows through the bridge.

I thought those kits had problems cooling the VRMs unless they had a fan blowing or something... it was brought up before I think.

    Just wondering:

How restrictive are the EK and Aqua Computer FC blocks?

Been looking for reviews, none found.

Why dont you go for the mcw-4870? I got one on my Powercolor PCS+ and its great. Went with that as the PCS+ is non-reference board and I couldnt get anything else to fit it.
    My loop goes: swiftech 18w ddc - swiftech GTZ - mcw-4870 - MCW-NBMAX - black ice360 rad - xspc res - back to pump.

My 4870 (820/1100) temps dont get over 40c after hours of Far Cry 2, and CPU temp isnt over 35c. (E8400@3.8)

I'll crossfire another one this next week and split it into a GPU and CPU/NB loop.
