That's an excellent idea for the traps with the metal triggers.

This is the kind I was using. These have worked in the past without any bait since the trigger is bait scented. But I never did active surveillance on their activities so I may have only been catching 1 out of every 5 or 10. I also assumed that the poison was working when in fact the bait bars were just a free buffet as far as the mice were concerned. They will chow down on the bait before even thinking about peanut butter in a trap. They just jumped over the spring traps and avoided the glue traps.

But on the plus side, there was no mouse sign on the video from last night. Me, the gf and one of the cats again watched the whole 12 hours. We were a little disappointed though. It would have been nice to at least see a waterbug or something. The camera I'm using is an old handycam I got in 1992 I think. At the time, the resolution was better than broadcast tv, but when you look at it now, it looks like a cheap pr0no. (I won't even comment on what in my twisted mind makes me associate killing mice with pr0n )

Anyway, I'm feeling confident that I plugged the access hole. It's still possible for them to get in from the garage since the door doesn't always settle properly when closing - need to replace one of the springs and door is at least 200lbs.

I'm going to get a couple electrocution traps and I'm going to put out a few traps with the cotton peanut butter bait. It should help keep it moist so I can go a couple months before refreshing it. I think I'll also grind up some tranquilizers into the PB. It won't kill them but it will make them sloppy so they won't be leaping or jumping anywhere very fast.

Make sure to let it cool down a little before you put it into the IV drip bag.

A top of the morning to you all. Coffee in hand, XS on the screen, appears to be the start of a great day. I found a "Dealer Shop Manual" for my Kubota at a decent price (amazing what these things can go for) which I should have in about a week.

    @twilyth,

Modern Marvels TV show had a special the other day on rats and mice, very informative. You might be able to purchase the show for your viewing pleasure.

Morning all, need coffee in hand, I have to come out of retirement (so to speak ) and sing with a Gospel trio this morning. They've offered me a spot with the group, but this morning it's just me...

Joy. I'm already coughing up stuff...

Shop manuals are a beetch. When I sold my 92 honda civic si (for peanuts) I gave the guy a full set of manuals - mech, a/c, body, electrical. He almost shatted hisself. I even let him keep the blaupunkt stereo - although the 4 speakers were headed for the grave, so it wasn't that big a deal i guess.

As for the rodents, we dun need no stinkin' destructional videos. I went up against them with nothing but some peanut butter and my wits and I still won. Although . . . . I'm thinkin' the PB deserves most of the credit.

It sounds interesting though. I'll check out tv.com and see which episode it was and maybe i can uhhh, "find" it somewhere, *cough*

I have to review last night's tape, but the last 2 nights - no mouse sign. Three days of rain have brought us worm sign, but no mice. Although, as I've said before, I know they have access to advanced technologies like stealth cloaks and phase shifters for passing through walls. But that must be for only an elite strike/insertion force, because the one's I caught were acting like typical mice. And before anyone accuses me of being a speciesist, I realize that each one is unique and that I should not be making generalization about an entire species. Damn, you can't step on anyone's paws anymore.

To be safe, I think I'll put out one more bait bar in the surveillance area. Then I'll do surveillance on a couple other spots that have seen some activity in the past. After that, maybe I can move some rigs downstairs. I've got a KVM extender that I would like to test out. I had to run the upstairs a/c again yesterday - it was over 80F eventhough the outside temp was only in the 60's and it was raining.

Morning all! It's almost holidays! So close I can FEEL it! One more exam in 4 and a half hours, and then I have something like 3 MONTHS worth of holidays! And to make things even better, I have an E7200, MSI P35 and some D9 RAM coming from the US that cleared customs yesterday, so they should be rocking up in the next couple of days. So I'll finish uni and then have a brand new 45nm dual core to play with, my first ever! Probably going to pull the water loop from my desktop to see how high I can get this puppy running under water.

Only down-side is that I don't have a PSU for it, and no job at the moment, so I have to borrow the server's PSU while benching the E7200. That combined with stealing the water loop from my desktop (Will need to run it at stock) means my output is going to at least halve while playing

    Eller

    Desktop: Q6600 G0 @ 3.6 Ghz | P5E | 2x2 Gb G.Skill PC8000 | GTX 560 Ti | CM690 | TT TP 750 watt | Win 7 Pro x64 | Water Cooling
    Server: i3 530 (Stock) | CM Vortex Low-Profile | Zotac H55-ITX WIFI | 2x2Gb Corsair 1333Mhz | IGP | VX450 | Server 2008 R2 x64

Morning all, the board showed up yesterday finally-as I left for work.

I have her partially assembled, and I'm gonna finish up this morning, but I have to say-this is one of the best constructed boards I've seen in a long time.
