    RAID issues

    Hello everybody

I just got a Rampage formula instead of my maximus formula II and at the same time I got two velociraptor 74Gb disks. On the maximus II I could run my old 36Gb raptors just fine in RAID 0 and they run on the rampage in RAID with no issues.
Now on the rampage I cant set RADI or AHCI in bios when the new raptors are connected because it wont get past det ide, no matter what I try.
The board need a cmos reset to be able to post again after it stops at det ide.

I tried diconnecting my other drives, remove anything connected in any of the pci slots, use port 3 and 5, but nothing works. It looks like the new raptors doesent play nice with the built in controller. I really would like everything to work so I dont have to buy a controller card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a ram/vnb problem to me. I'd first start with upping the vnb a little bit, then the sb volts.

Hey, not sure if this post is an answer to what I wrote or to another post. I have the same problem with no OC at all so I dont think its a ram/nb problem. Its a very frustrating problem and I cant seem to find a solution, hopefully someone on this site will have a good answer.

Highly recommended. This board is capable of running 550 FSB for everyday use. Just make sure you have good airflow in your case.

Err.. are you suggesting that Rampage Formula can easily to 550 FSB 24/7 with air cooling and a quad?

    nice setup

im in a little trouble. I can't go over 595 fsb in dual channel. I tried to raise the vnb up to 1.66v and vddr up to 2.55v but nothing changed. what is the maximum vpll that won't kill my golden cpu?

I've always had the best results with cpupll set to it's lowest with 45nm cpus. What vtt are you at? gtl?

maybe there is the trouble but the rampage can only pump 1.52v vpll for minimum... at 595 I use 1.34-1.36v vtt and the cpu gtl is vtt*0.67, nb gtl is vtt*0.63. above 585 i have to set 0.63 instead of 0.67 to the nb.

DaLiu: Pardon me for asking but what are those aftermarket heatsinks you have installed on the NB/SB. Did you remove the stock heatsink with heat or with cold or just neither? I'm considering removal of my NB heatsink because there's not enough space to strap a 40mm fin on it.

Thore are Thermalright HR-05 SLI / IFX, and yes, i removed the entire default cooling from NB and SB, the cooling from mosfets is still on the mobo.

    Hi,

It is my first post, so hello everybody .

My DFI NF4 Ultra-D died on me so it is time to change my Opty165@3.0 ghz for something newer.

I did a lot of reading during last week but I am still confused.

I have q9550 E0 which board you would say would be better to clock it P45 (M2F) or rather X48 (Rampage).

I read that on P45 has better "support" for 45nm quads and it is easier to achieve 450+ FSB but I can see better OC in signatures of ppl with X48 Rampage.

Just to say I do not care about any kind of bundle like i.e. 2x PCIe x16.

Which board would you suggest (other brands are also welcome but not DFI I have enough of semi finished product).
