Mascaras, which hot fix for the X2 are you using? BTW, thanks for the peek.

Mascaras if it's possible can you try it with 1 core disabled to see how a 4870 would run?

I'm also curious to see how gunfire and fire will effect fps. Though this game doesn't have swarms of enemies like on crysis.

So far though this game seems like crysis graphics with Call of Duty 4 optimization.

I don't know, the graphics doesn't look as good as Crysis to me. May be it's just me. Hopefully the gameplay will make this much better than Crysis.

I prefer the FC2 trees slightly more than Crysis pixelized trees and think explosions and animations are far better but texture quality is a bit worse. Awesome performance/IQ ratio though.

Have you checked out the nice map editor vids with massive explosions? I'm really liking what I'm seeing...

Managed to blag the local shop into selling me this early off the record...

Running at ultra high 1920x1080 2xAA with vSync on, apart from the odd 1-2fps, never drops below 60. This is of course using the hotfix driver along with rest of setup in sig

Graphics arnt as good as Crisis but they are still real nice and the smooth fps more than makes up for it!!

btw: with single HD4870 , PCGAMES dont recommend the Hotfix , they recommend cat 8.9 or cat 8.10

    Far Cry 2 Hotfix

According to AMD the Far Cry 2 Hotfix increases the performance of single and multi GPU systems - our driver review conformed that. In addition to Crossfire support in DX9 the Catalyst update also delivers an increased performance on DX10. The performance of the HD4870 on the other hand is drastically reduced and the problems seem to be complex. We are currently checking back with AMD about that.

    Conclusion

Both drivers are about as fast as the Catalyst 8.10 WHQL, only in Assassin's Creed the performance is a little lower. The fan control isn't working with the Far Cry 2 Hotfix or the "Catalyst 8.10 Hotfix for HD 4650, HD 4550 and HD 4350", although the option is available. The Far Cry 2 Hotfix also causes problems between Far Cry 2 and the Radeon HD 4870 on Vista x64.

So if you don't plan to run the Africa shooter on a Crossfire system in DX9, you should stay with the 8.9 WHQL. During our tests Far Cry 2 was running faster with this driver than with the Catalyst 8.10 or the two Hotfixes.

yep , although the graphics doesn't look as good as Crysis , i also think far cry 2 much more Fun/optimized than crysis , but thats a matter of tastes , i prefer this type of game

make fools of themselves after G92 and it's overall sub-8800 ultra performance.

Far Cry 2 looks good too
The Big Bang II drivers haven't even been released yet

Apparently, they'll be out next month and will probably coincide with the release of the 55nm 200 cards

According to developers, FC2 should see a 30% boost on quadcore compared to a dual core at the same speed.

I've been playing this game for a couple of hours. My opinion? Of course FC2 runs fast, but wonder why? . Apart from the graphics, that have very good moments (2 or 3 effects so far) and terrible ones (the rest), this game is just... well I can't describe it. The movements are so unnatural, the weapons are total crap, the enemies are stupid even at the highest level of difficulty, when you ride a car is like WTF I'm playing a 10 year old game... just horrible. I'm going to sell this garbage now that it has some value.

This game is pure hype, is not worth more than 5€. ATI, NV, please put your efforts somewhere else. Please.

The game's engine runs like a breeze on my amd3400+ 1gb ram and an ati hd3850agp 1650x1050 with some settings to very high like textures, geometry, HDR on, other stuff to high/med and few things like physics to low :p

Driving through the jungle at about 25 to 45 fps without any slowdown, pretty impressive compared to crysis when it craps out every few steps I make

I shouldn't have to worry if my 8800GT can handle 1280x960 for this game though, reckon FPS should be around 60 fps avg or more maybe, I'll see that soon anyways...

    Can't wait!

EDIT: Wish they could test 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 though, those are far more commonly used res than a 30" LCD's and would tell much more accurately what to expect...
Im gonna run it at 1600x1200 with probably 2x or 4x AA, worked for Crysis.

You're not the first one saying that LOL. But as I explained b4, my 2nd rig died and I got the E8400 OEM for dirt cheap to replace and I guess it didn't worth the hassle of swapping with the Q6600 to gain a couple fps. And plus I probably won't keep my Q6600 for long since Nehalem is around the corner anyway...hehehe.

Very easy to find, on the second page of Guru3D's review.

We selected an image quality setting that is pretty far fetched, applied to all cards in a similar fashion. Since the graphics engine can deal with a lot, we opt the best image quality available in-game, DirectX 10 mode and then enable 4 samples of anti-aliasing in very high image quality settings mode. A pretty tough configuration for sure.

I "borrowed" it yesterday and tried. Well, the atmosphere is lovely, the sound and music amazing... the Graphics is ... hmm dull, the healing when nearly death is AMAZING ... the AI blows and sucks and the storyline looks fine. 8 / 10 Imho ..

Yes, that's normal. With the hotfix I get a lot more fps, but with that strange jumps each second or so.

I dont think 7fps is worth the $1000 on top of the e6420 or 6000+. It does not appear to be that multi threaded to me.
