I vote against the True, go water or you probably won't see a that huge temperature difference. I know you want to use your hard earned cash anyways.

Well my volts are 1.3312 in Bios.. and in CPU-Z they show as 1.296v and thats where I'm stable in prime.. you think I could go lower?

also yea I'm probably going to get a true. as they are a lil better. I would consider going water, but I for one don't know anything about it. nor I have the cash ATM. what about something like the swiftech 220?

I think my signature should now appear below! Abracadabra! I'm having issues gaining stability though. Seems I can't fine tune the gtl or I'm not prepared to give it enough juice. I don't know yet.

Edit; I am totally stable at my sig settings, but need more.

If you are going to just cool the CPU the 220 would be fine. If you want to cool the video card too, then do like Big Slappy says and get the individual parts. I had a Swiftech H2O Compact 120 cooling my Q6600 for awhile and it kept the temps under 60 degrees under load (ambient 27). It was OC to 3.6Ghz at 1.47v vcore.

well to be honest.. I don't really need to water cool my GFX card. ya it might help a little bit, and maybe, maybe I could Oc it more. but I've not had any problems with heat with it so far.
I've been able to get the max OC with the shaders stopping me, not heat. With it from 576 Mhz core to 744 Mhz core my temps on full load stay around 61c. thats not bad at all considering how high it's clocked.
Maybe later I'd get something for it. But if anything I just wanna water the CPU, as I'm not happy about current temps... So the Swifty 220 is for the CPU only. and it's not to expensive. like $139.99 or so. would it last,
and how good of quality are there parts. I'd not want any leaks.

Also I'm missing my top mounted 120mm exhaust fan as it was to big for it, and my Tuniq in there. So I've ordered some smaller 120mm Medium speed YateLoons. they will be here tomorrow. I'll try those out. if they
don't help my temps. Mainly my load temps. then I'll be even more upset. as before I lapped the Tuniq, or took out the fans that were to big, at 4.050ghz my load temps were 61/55/55/55 and now they get over that
within 5 minutes. so hopefully the new fans will help, otherwise I'll try a re-seat, if that doesn't work, then It will be either a TRUE, or H2O..

just wondering what software you used to clock ur graphics to overclock and test. And how do you do the vdroop mod. It won't make alot of diffrence gettin water cooling if it internal.

I use eVGA Precision to overclock my GPU, and I use my BIOS for the CPU. I also stress test with Prime95, and sometimes OCCT. then with the GPU I just play games.. if it can handle MAX settings playing some intense
parts of Crysis, then the GPU at that clock should be able to handle most things.. IMO. So thats what I do. and 3DMark06 of course.. I shoud use vantage since I got it free and have DX10. but I like 06 better.

and Devious. I hate your volts and chip, thats one of the better I've seen. 1.216v at 4.0 ghz. I can't do that at stock speed on mine. well maybe, not tried. (I remember a long time ago hearing about starving the CPU of volts
when you first get it. Like setting less volts. it gets used to it, and then can run with less. is that at all realistic?) yea, I hate your temps and your voltage. totally great. Wanna swap Q9650's.

and gurusan thats a pretty great chip you got there. I wish I had a better VID. I really do, but I can't complain at 4.2 Ghz stable. thats just not something to be complaining about ya know!

It's not the board.. I've got to 470 FSB.. and still going.. My vid is 1.2500.. thats part of it. But either way it still clocks great.

I've yet to try to go any higher than 470 FSB, and 1.345v but I will soon.
above post I was joking BTW!

Installed a P5Q Deluxe tonight hoping to get more than the 465FSB on my X38, its not looking good. I can just about boot at 470 but no more. It also fails prime blend around 460fsb. I thought these P45 were supposed to be the FSB kings.

Sorry to go off topic here :

@Devious : They are, but your ram isn't really liked by the board... have you tried 1406 bios ? 500FSB was really no issue on my 2 boards with the quad...with Mushkin and Gskill PC8000 ram 1081Mhz is absolutely no issue, Mushins 4gb kit can even do 1120mhz... the reapers I had were troublesome...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I had the p5q dlx and it would not get my q9650 over 455 stable tried everything ended badly killing my 9800 gx2, had to reinstall windows 3 time and the memory hole we wont go there. As well as never wanted to boot first time. Wait or anytime to be honest tried all the bios even a default never wanted to play. Good luck! I went for the evga 780i not had a problem since booted first time @ 4.050 and screams though every game save youself time and money and send it back.

Sorry my sig is out of date, im actually running 4GB OCZ flex 9200, which can do over 1100mhz. Those reapers were awful, got rid of those quick.

I have tried the 1406 bios and it hasnt made any difference.

Can I ask what settings you have used ?

Interesting, my x38 got as high fsb as this P45 and the x38 are spposed to suck with yorkies.

I wonder if there is a board out there to get this to 500fsb ? I thinking this is more of a cpu wall, shame if it is as its using no vcore for high clocks.

gonna see what my Q9650 will do with this MoBo & the Super PI G.Skill's
I will be waiting anxiously for your results. I'm sitting here with a MIIF, RE, P7NDiamond and EVGA 780iFTW that i've been testing with this 9650. Even with lower multis the best i can get stable (3hours small fft so far) is 467(1868) FSB (4200mhz) and thats on the EVGA that i got from the egg today. It has issues though and wont detect my xonar. Cant wait for my SIIF to get back from RMA. I had 475(1900) running on the RE but cant confirm stability over 1 hour prime95. I was so anxious to get this 780i in that i didn't test that X48 thorough enough. SLI keeps calling my name so i'm trying to find a reason to go back to nforce. 500FSB on that Gigabyte your linking would slow me down some though. Please let me know how it works out with the 9650. Thanks
