    Hi Cryptik,
Sorry for the long delay....got the new MOBO but still didn't post, replaced the PSU for an Enermax Infiniti 720 (thought there might be a dead rail not supplying enough Amps to the system) still no luck....assuming its the CPU so will replace that this week and see. Man this is annoying and expensive...will finally get back to you once this thing actually posts.

Any suggestions on a Quad that will be stable @4GHz with the RAM I have (assuming that's not blown... )

No problem that's really not good mate. Have you tried using just one stick of ram to see if it will post or trying to use any other ram in it? Perhaps it's a memory incompatibility issue? Can you test the CPU in another board?

    Hi Cryptik,
I tried another GPU but that doesn't seem to be the problem and 1 stick at a time....still no post. if its the CPU as it seems to be now I'll just bite the bullet and get a Q9550 tomorrow for around $350 USD. Worst case scenario is I have my P5K deluxe and my Antec 550 as the starting point for a HTPC so it
    wont go to waste.
If I remember correctly the 8GB of Muskin DDR2-800 I have was clocked @ 475 on the P5K deluxe with the Q6600, if I can achieve the 475 clock on RAM with the Maximus II Formula and have it stable I'll be more than happy.

If the CPU works on your P5K, it should work on your Maximus II Formula. It's not the PSU, and not the video card.....is there any other ram you have that you can try? Perhaps the board is not compatible with that mushkin?

The 9550 would be a very nice cpu, try and find an E0 stepping if you can, it should clock a little better and require less voltage for a given speed compared to a C1.

Sorry, Thought I mentioned before in my first post. After trying to wake up from sleep on the P5K Deluxe, I got power going through to the board,HDD's and KB and mouse(LED's) but no screen. After hard reboot no post beep or screen. Thats why i thought it might be either the MB or PSU.

Ah that's right I got it mixed up with another person's issue. It does appear that you have eliminated everything else. You would expect ram beep code if the ram was faulty. Either way, a 9550 should do you well, and new ram is cheap now comparatively anyhow.

Post your ram related settings in a template so we can have a look at them. I can direct you once I know what you have set

Hey guys, here is where I am right now and have reached a stumbling block on moving forward. Any suggestions? I fail Prime95 "Blend" after several minutes beyond these settings. This is stable.

It may be your CPU limiting you through, that is a fairly high vcore you have for 3.7GHz already, if going any lower on the vcore makes you unstable at 3.7GHz, I'd say you are actually CPU limited.

Yeah, that is why I named the cpu "Fido", it is a real dog.

I will try the settings tomorrow and let you know, thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion CryptiK.That's interesting I'll try to test it.... and for right now I still can't get pass with "Blend" over 35 minutes...

and RADAJA that's great!! I'll try to follow your setting too.
I think may I'm stuck with my RAM (D9GMH 2x2 GB)

Those GSkills should do 1105MHz easy.
I'll post my GSKill timing for you.
Cryptik is right tho your cpu does seem to be at the end of its leash.
Try running small fft's with the ram dialed back to see if its the chip or not.

Speaking of G skill, Will the maximus II formula support 8gb of gskill 1066 memory? Thats 2 4 GB (2 x 2GB) kits. 4 dimms

    Just running them at 1066?

Hi guys! Just needed some help on how to OC my rig. Can you guys show me some templates of how I should set my bios to OC? I have a bios 0901 version. Will it be better to update it to the latest bios 1307? I was also planning on doing that before I set my bios settings. I am planning to put another set of 4Gb (2Gbx2) RAM (Total of 8GB RAM). Will this be an issue or will it better to OC it on 4GB RAM total? Thanks for your patience guys!

What sort of VTT and VNB should these boards need with a Q6600 @ 333 FSB?
    Thanks

hi folks! i'm interested in this mobo, but i wanna know only few things, what's the max fsb that this mobo allows under air cooling? the strap 266 runs correctly?, someone had tested it with the Cell's PC8000 cl.4?

    TIA and bye!

That does look better, what does bios say your 12v line is at? I think no more than 2.1v for those G.Skills, Grnfinger would probably be the best to answer that, however 2.0v is fine 24/7 for where you're at now, you may even be able to go a little higher. Try setting at least the first set of ram timings manually - try 5-5-5-15-5-55-8-5. Advancing the ram skews to around 250ps can also help get stability at higher speeds.

and RADAJA that's great!! I'll try to follow your setting too.
I think may I'm stuck with my RAM (D9GMH 2x2 GB)
    If your ram is 2 x 2GB, they won't be D9 GMH, they will be 128M x 16 per ram module to give 2GB, micron D9 is 64M x 16 giving 1GB per module.

No idea, if you need to have some control, try the fan speed control in bios if you haven't already, it is reasonably flexible.

If your CPU will do it, it will take perhaps ~1.40 - 1.45v vNB to get 500 FSB stable. Depends somewhat on how much ram you will be running, more ram needs higher vNB.

    Just running them at 1066?
The P45 series is supposed to support 16GB, so 8GB should be fine, you will need a higher vNB (~1.4v) perhaps more to get it stable. Also a tRFC of 55 or 60 will be required as they are 2GB modules.

Try my template I gave you but since you have a 9550, try first 424 FSB, 8.5x MP and use 1.35 vNB, 1.25 vFSB The template I sent you is for an e8400. 4GB ram will be easier to overclock, but to compensate with 8GB, increase the vNB a few notches. I would recommend upgrading to 1307 BIOS, it has been the best one for me.

Start with 1.25v vFSB, 1.35v vNB that should be fine.

Max totally stable FSB I can hit is 534 FSB, but up to ~555 FSB stable should be doable if you CPU can be stable at that FSB. When I say stable I mean Orthos, Linpack gaming etc stable ie: totally rock stable.

My CellShock 8000 CL4 kits (GKX) and my TeamGroup 8500's (GMH) go very well on this board.

Ah ok, well 1.96v is enough for mine to do 1113 MHz 5-5-5-12-3-30-6-3 and the rest on auto. I can get 1200 stable on 2.1v load. Try to not exceed 2.1v for 24/7 use and cool them with a fan too.
