I'm K1LL3RB33 over at the dutch HWI forum. I'm curious how your E8600 will perform on your board, as you almost have the same setup then as me.

Hi, I knew you were around here too

Have you been able to reach a prime stable setting yet? I've got the new 0605 Bios already installed but when I replace my Q9450 with the E8600 I will just reset all settings and start from scratch. Would be cool to update eachother in this topic.

    edit:
aargh damn the tnt post dudes. Since this morning the status was that the driver was en route but now it's 20:37 in the evening and they haven't delivered my new proc yet. I officially hate them now Hope it's not lost and no more Q822A435 in stock cuz then I'm gonna flip!

Would be great to keep eachother informed about used settings and maybe we can even share OC profiles!!!! I also started from scratch again but I'm having trouble finding some stable settings. As you know I replaced my E8400 with a E8600 (Q822A435, VID 1.21v) due to a lack of OC possibilities. According to the batchnumber this should be a great CPU to OC. However I'm having difficulties to get things stable.

I found that I can boot to 610FSB with everything on auto settings, except for dynamic read / write and spread spectrums. I want 450FSB to get my DDR3 to run at 1:2 divider. With still everything on auto I can boot into Windows with 450 FSB and CPU-z reports 1.32v but it is far from stable with orthos. I started fiddling around with VTT, PLL, vNB and higher vcore (up to 1.41v in bios) without much succes.

    Help would be much appreciated.

I received my lovely E8600 chip today and I just tested it so I can contribute something to this topic too

You'll have to excuse my black ops for not showing the correct voltage but in the Bios my real voltage was 1.3759. Cpu-z did show the Vdroop which was 0.024v. Which means my load voltage would have been 1.3519V

Don't over-hype the E8600. They are good, but not all of them are born equal. Example: mine. It's utter crap compared to most others. If you get a good one, congrats, happy birthday, and merry christmas.

I'm not happy, I just paid £188 for a crap chip with a 1.2500 VID! Has anyone else seen a higher VID than that? I doubt it. There are E8400's out there crapping all over my E8600! Quite frustrating man. Hours of tweaking in BIOS does absolutely nothing.

What's the highest PLL your motherboard can give? 2.5+ will kill your chip in a few minutes. Which means you can send it back, claiming you don't know what happened and hope for a better batch in return

Btw: How did you come up with that cpu VID?

i'm pretty confident there are other options for dee. Your ram is running pretty fast & stressing the NB. You can give the cpu up to 1.40v actual, unless you're already doing that. you're ram could take up to 2.1vdimm which may aide in stability. Good luck but i doubt it is a bunk chip, seriously.

An easy way to tell is to see how "hot" it runs on air at a particular Vcore & speed - depending on your cooling.

I thought of doing something like that but the place I bought it from is an absolute nightmare for RMA's. I have a faulty motherboard and they won't replace it. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=202832

I bet all of those chips are still better than mine, too! I should just sell it and try again.

Yep, already giving it 1.4v, this is why it's pissing me off. 4.33GHz shouldn't need 1.4v. RAM is OK, it'll run up to DDR1302 or higher and is rated up to 2.3v by CellShock. My previous RAM (Ballistix) was running at DDR1040 and I doubt that's stressful on the NB.

Really, I think this chip is bunk. High VID, and all the chips I've seen so far with this batch number have been pretty much identical.

Cooling is pretty good, btw. Maxes out at 1.4v under Orthos small FFT's at 60*C on the hottest core. Other core is around 58. That's the only good thing about high VID chips, they tend to run cooler.

Yeah I just noticed after downloading the newest versionI was still running V2.28. Mine says VID is between 1.1 and 1.2375. Everest says 1.238 so my VID is quite high too, but I still have a good chip.

Bah - this is an E0 E8500 with 1.25v vid.

Lapped it so that I now get good contact with my block, before was spoon shaped. Never been a fan of judging a chip by the vid, imo vid doesnt mean . Its the hardware and skill of the overclocker, not the vid.

I assume you are using SpeedStep? Mine displays 1.1 using SpeedStep also.

OK, wanna swap? Let's see what you can do with this difficult bastard of an E8600!

What was your max clock before you lapped it?

EDIT! Oh wait -- you are on water. What does your chip do on air? It's a totally different ball game.
