Hmmm looks like Mushkin has had some success with their 2x2 1600MHz XP model. (http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/...ail.asp?id=705)

    Thanks for the info.

My current sticks won't do anything other than AUTO so far, so I'm looking for something else. I want to make this board work, but I'm still considering going back to the Rampage Formula
When I first got the EVGA 790i, I could have thrown every gtl value and tweak at it, my q6600 just wasn't going to hit 3.5ghz+. I knew the chip was more than capable.

Instead of spending weeks banging my head against the walll, I cut my losses and put the 790i away and ran a P5E3 Deluxe instead. I then just waited for the next bios release. When that came out a few weeks later, I flashed the 790i and had my Q6600 benching at 4.1ghz.

Basically what I'm saying is that it may well be an idea to go back to your Rampage formula for a bit. A lot less bl00dy stressfull.

I don't know much about the P5E3 premium, but that was a bit of dog to run wasn't it? The latest bios releases have made all the difference from what I gather.

Oh by the way, back on my P5E3 Deluxe for the timebeing

You might be onto something with that

RE, CSX Diablo 2X2 2000 Ram

Sorry for not posting sooner but I got home from work (Spain) and promtly was sick as a dog. Last night was my first night trying again with the RE, E8600 and the CSX 2 X 2 2000 GTS Ram. Waiting for bits so all on air. If I have time tonight will try and post some screen shots, etc. 9 X 450 1800 9 9 9 24 after fiddling with the ram skews. Stable. Then tried 9 X 467 1868 (1872 in bios) again 9 9 9 24 and not quite there as it will either crash after 10 minutes or maybe an hour, 2 hours later. So just before heading off to bed (@ 5 am) I figured what the heck and tried 9 X 500 & 2000! Yup, I can get into windows but not stable...will require a lot of tweaking or just volts. With 1800, 1868 or 2000 if I move the GTL Ref's around it seems worse so I've left those on normal or auto. The only exception is the NB GTLVref @ +10mv. NB DDR Vref @ +12.5mv and the DDR3 Channel A & B Vrefs @ +50 mv. The Dram Skew Control is Normal, Normal, Advance 250ps, Normal, Normal for both A2 & B2 which should be the White Slots. Tried fiddling with the first and last, again advancing but was less stable. I know, I've read all the posts by guys with a heck of a lot more knowledge than me about negative values but with me I've had no luck at all with the negative values. Ram voltage @ 1.93506...tried going as high as 1.98806 for the 1868 & 2000 but might have to give it more. Hopefully 2.1or 2.2 won't kill them. Ai Clock Twister seems to work with Light, Lighter or Moderate but Strong and Stronger BSOD much quicker. Perf Level 7. Volts to CPU 1.35625, NB 1.44472 FSB 1.40491 CPU PLL 1.5508 SB voltages one click up from auto. The 500 FSB Ram @ 2000 upped everything 2 clicks. Now that I am on Bios 601 I find that things go better with "Load Line Calibration" Enabled. This was a no no on my X38 hybrid Rampage Formula. Dram Static Control & Dram Dynamic Write Control both Disabled, but might try enabling them one at a time tonight.

Ok, disclaimer time...I'm not dictating or trying to claim anything. This is just a noob who has typed a few things down so I can receive feedback or possibly even give someone else some ideas. I will use the official format for bios values in the future. If it wasn't for some of the talented individuals on here I never would have gotten this far. In fact, can someone please tell me how Memset works and which values to change, etc? Just a little explanation would be very helpful as to which SPD columns correspond to the A & B columns. I'm serious, I can't seem to get it to work at all. 3.5.7 Beta This board has been an absolute joy at times and a real SOB at others, but I'm not giving up!! Any and ALL ideas appreciated!!

    Regards,
    GriZ

@GriZ: Leave the SPD, only change the settings that have the drop-down menu next to it.

Which settings you can change is trial and error, look at the screens people post and try to use those settings.

Your mem is supported up to 2.1V so don't be scared to give 'm that.

The timings you're using are very relaxed, try at least 8-7-6-18 or even beter 7-6-5-16.

Off course this requires more voltage.

I have mine running at 2.04V 7-6-5-18 at DDR 1800 with a dominator ram cooler over them as 24/7 setting, mine are 2x1GB, i don't know if 2x2GB clocks worse.

Just a bit of a warning. i notice you have Raid-0 as well. I've managed a couple of times on other boards to corrupt my Raid setup with Memset tweaking.

The way I had things setup before was to have a separate non raid drive with Os's on it. I'd then do all my tweaking on that drive. A bit more forgiving. Oh and for Raid setups it seems to help giving a tad more voltage to the South Bridge.

Don't know what to advise on memset really. I wouldn't use it for finding stability. i'd do that via bios settings, memtest, prime etc. memset comes into it's own really for benching in my opinion. Just go careful, and maybe focus more on subtimings just adjusting 1 notch at a time. Things like your TRFC for instance.

I'm no expert, so maybe someone else can comment.

    Thanks Zeus & RLM

@ Zeus. Dood, Thanks for the reply. Went into Bios and tried what you suggested. Upped voltage a tad and Presto!! Anything with a 7 in it is a no go but managed to come up with 8 8 8 21 5 82 8 6. Much quicker!! I'll post the full bios settings either tonight or tomorrow as I promised you when I was still at work a couple weeks ago.

@ RLM The Raid 0 is to try it out with the onboard raid support. This isn't my day to day machine and I can afford to have a screw up here and there. A lot of people knock it but the best price I can come up with in Europe for an Areca 1231 ML with 2 Gb of ram is 620.00 Euros, which is a lot of bucks, even to an old guy like me. Yup, I've corrupted a couple raids with bad overclocks in the past so point taken and noted. Lowered the TRFC as you suggested and 82 was it. 72 and I get the Det Ram hang. Also upped the SB volts on your suggestion so Thank you as well.

Here goes with an attachment, sorry, forgot to run Pi until it was too late but 1M was 11.2 sec & apologies if the pic sucks (first timer at this)

    Regards,
    Griz
