AU dollar is pretty solid at the moment still so is great for us! Nice as hell board, depending on when it comes out I'll have to decide between this or the P6T-Deluxe. This seems to have better placed PCI-E slots for running 2 GTX280 in SLI and an 8x Areca SAS raid controller. P6T has poor placed slots for this since the GPU will interfere with the 3rd PCI-E 16x slot.

I completely agree. We need to get rid of the archaic ATX layout move to something taller and wider. eATX is a step in the right direction but we need taller too. Also, lets get rid of IDE and floppy. They are taking up space and I think only a very small amount of people with this board will use them.

EDIT: the only reason I can think of for still using a floppy is for installing XP on RAID. Other than that I do not see a point in it.

VTT card look interesting cant wait to see how it works.

It would be cool to see mobo makers creat base boards with several add in cards... like you get a base board for $100 then for better power delivery you buy additional circuits... or more features lol...

how is it ever going to be in the $300 range if the current maximus II is almost $300 and rampage extreme is already $400. $600 range sounds right for this mobo

I dont think Asus would price a MB at $600. I think it will be close to $500 like the striker II Extreme.

Well only 1 PCI slot. Looks like Either my TV tuner or Sound card will have to go. I think the sound card will be the winner...

Nah, this will never sell for $600--that's dual socket territory, and I would castigate anyone who spent $600 on a single socket mobo, even if it is the much fawned over LGA1366.

I like it very much, I only wish if they went with beefy, individual-screwed copper heatsink on nb / mos-fets instead of heatpipes.

    unfortunately this seems realistic

still hoping there will be a plethora of x58 boards and some may be in the 3-400$ region...

My chance of getting a board this high end rely on acquiring a golden ticket in my candy bar our winning one as a prize for most deprived geek 08.

It sure is a looker tho. Looking forward to the cooling solution they've got planned.

We've asked for samples but ASUS are holding back until they finalise the design. We've had a Ci7 engineering sample since last week but nothing to play with it! Kind of frustrating!

BTW does anyone have a scale image of the socket so I can knock up a block adapter?

Anyone have any ideas on the release date of the board? Will it be released at the same times as Core i7 or will it come out later?

Hopefully sooner rather than later. They'll want to cash in on the early adopters who are prepared to pay max $$

If this board is out release day I may buy it unless something comes along that is better. I'm still eyeing the P6T though as it has alot of stuff onboard, and I use my systems for more than just benching and gaming.

I will *NOT* pay one dime more than 300 dollars for it though. That is why these prices have gotten so rediculous because people go nuts over this stuff and pay it. They have to sell. If people don't pay the ripoff prices, they will come down. 300 dollars is way more than fair price for this. Anything more is just rediculous.

I'll pay top dollar for stuff, but I'm not gonna let them rip me off.

Will this board have SAS ports like the P6T. I am going to be using an SAS controller but I am just curious if it will be there?

neh on sas controller. it actually has room for SLI + sas controller though unlike the p6t.

P6T already has SAS on board, and it's SLI ready. No problems at all using both on the P6T.
