Once you have and stable configuration, try to find yourself your optimal GTL values. It's easy, move it slowly up and down until you get an error in a fixed time (aprox. 5min), and then set your GTL with the mean between errors...

Im just overclocking this board now. Bios 1403. Likeing it alot so far. I just have a few questions. Im trying for atleast a 450-500fsb. What should I set the NBv at on this board? My other question is. I have 4 disks in raid0, what should I set the SBv at? Thanks in advance.
Edit: Also, what is the memory remap feature?

. If you use Kets Modded BIOS version of the 1403 I leaked, out for everyone you will see your latencies drop with the pull ins enabled "I noticed this with the Modded 0803 he put out for me so, maybe this is right still?". The pull ins drop your PL a little like .5 so if youre are on 8 like I am, it will be like being at 7.5 instead. Also no problem

Should I set the Nb gtl refrence to 0.67? What is the cpu pll voltage?
Ok, this is embarrassing but hopefully it will save someone else. When you clear CMOS don't do what I did: Dropped the jumper and couldn't find it, went to get a new one, didn't pay attention and put it on the bottom right fan header. If only I had noticed it before i turned the power on... POOF!
Fortunately everything seems fine and no apparent damage except for a burnt fan header MOSFET and possibly no working fan headers. Good thing I use a Sunbeam fan controllerShould I be worried that something else might have taken a hit?
Anyway...the reason I cleared CMOS was because my system won't post on reboot after installing 4x2GB G.Skill PC8800. It gives the "Overclocking failed" message even at stock settings but boots fine after entering BIOS. Any ideas on why this is?

I really want to figure out the limits of my particular boards' FSB and My memory modules, I've never done this before, I've usually just been content with a mild OC not having been very lucky with my processors. I think I have a winner this time around and I'd like to find my limits. I could really use some real world tips such as which multiplier and memory timings you use and some base voltages. If I understand the theory is to isolate the particular component/system that your pushing while keeping the other component/systems intentionally low. If you any tips for me I'd sure appreciate it.
Also is the FSB strap the only way I have on this motherboard of changing the FSB/Dram Ratio? If I remember I have 200,266,333 and 400 as options. If for example I wish to run @ 4Ghz 400FSB x10 and keep a 1:1 ratio @ 800MHZ I would use a 400 strap? and is I wisg to run my ram @ the rated 1000mhz which strap could I use for a 1:1. Ty

I'm not sure if I'm losing it or not but didn't Asus PC Probe II used to show NB voltage? And I thought hardware monitor in the bios showed it too??
I need to see what Auto sets my NB voltage to but the bios and PC Probe II don't show NB??

Ahhh
I've read 3 reviews of this board today with the E8600 chip saying how they instantly got it stable with all settings at "Auto" @ 500fsb - 1:1. I don't think I'm going to get anything of the sort here. I've tried most settings here within this thread and pushed NB and other voltages far past what I'd be happy with. The longest I can blend in prime at 500 is with all settings at "Auto" for 2 mins 44 secs.

Leave the strap at Auto and set 400FSB and 1002mhz ram speed... nothing nothing less to it... 1:1 is less performant than a divider unless you are going high 500+FSB
this should be quite okay as a starting point... however fine tuning is up to youPHP Code:

Bios nor probe ever shown it ... think you got some boards mixed up
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
Some chips are better than others. Like me you may have gotten a bad batch. I have an e8400. The VID is 1.2250! On a 45nm chip. It also needs a high vtt for stability. I find it relly hard to get this chip stable at anything much higher than a 425fsbx9. Im sure that I can go to atleast 450 on the fsb but getting it stable isnt easy. I am having much better results than my last board at least. Does anyone have any tips on how I could run my ram at 1066, 4,4,4,12? Icant even get it to post at 4,4,4,12. It seems stable at 5,5,5,15 with 2.1v on the dimms and the NBv at auto, it passes 10 runs of Linpack.I still need to play around with the NBv. Im not very familliar with memory overclocking. At what voltage should I start to get nervous feeding my ram?

Forget about running 2gb stick at 1066Mhz at Cas4...
And NB at auto is a sign you didn't do ya homework before clocking this board... 1.26NB voltage is more than sufficient for 500FSB/1000mhz ops...secondly most of these board overvolts the ram with 0.08, so you are feeding ya reapers with 2.2volts which is not required at all, put in Trfc 55 and try to run static read control enabled... then try to mess with the PL's...

Not a problem, but....I've noticed when I reboot this board, I hear a very distinct power drop (doesn't cut off completely, I don't think), but the fans rpm drops off or a split second...is this normal for this board?

You are the man! Thanks for the advice. Static read control enabled causes my my board to fail to post and when I reboot I get a failed overclock message, so thats a no go. I haven't tried it yet on this board but I got better performance with the memory on my 780i at 850mhz 4-4-4-12 than I am getting now with 1066mhz at 5-5-5-15. I could aslo pull off a 1t command rate. Playing with the pls can help me out a little.![]()
