Yep tried that by breaking the raid down and trying each drive one at a time by them selves in other words one hard drive period plugged in at a time and still the issue persisted. Asus recreated the issue with in minutes of them setting up a config like mine and yes the tech said he has another issue the same as mine now on his desk as well.. I just called in and he is supposed,,, to call me back any minute now.

    This sucks!
I almost feel your misery as if it's mine, in my system.

I'm going to give ASUS a call as you had suggested regarding the issue. This is not good at all - especially if their BIOS is actually affecting the CHIP itself in ways that it produces erratic system behavior (Like your Vista Booting / My Shutdown woes). Was not expecting this.

Edit: Post back if he has anything to say ..

Anybody having any issues with BSOD's with BIOS 1306 and Win XP? In particular the lovely IRQ not less than equal one. I've eliminated every other change I did on Monday but the BIOS upgrade (was still on 0506) On that note, anybody have or know where I can get 0506 to put it back on?

some of the later bios revisions partially fixed a few of the overvolting issues, so you may need to raise vdimm vfsb or vnb a notch or two to regain stability.

Has anyone else experienced cold-boot issues with this board? Often when I boot the PC after it's been off all night, the first attempt to boot Windows will end in a BSOD. It reboots and then boots as usual and will run completely stable there after.

You're lucky. With my 4 sticks of tracer 8500 in, I have to remove a stick to get it to start from cold. See my earlier post of a couple of days ago.

I have two of these boards, purchased within days of each other from the same local retailer. The first board has been flawless - Runs my Q9450 at 3.8 GHz without even trying.

The second board has been nothing but problems, even mild OC's resulting in a no-boot situation. I've had to clear the CMOS several times, whereas the first board always successfully reset itself. Now the 2nd board is stuck in a perpetual BIOS recovery cycle. On boot it declares the BIOS to be bad, recovers from the backup, and then restarts to repeat the cycle all over again. I have tried flashing to the latest BIOS (that my first board is running) to no avail, on the next boot everything is corrupted again & the cycle begins anew.

I've seen some mention on other forums of swapping the BIOS chips, is this my next step? Or should I just try for an exchange with the retailer?

Yeah I read that. I'm using bios 0803 on a China board. I haven't bothered to try any of the other bioses though, as I heard there was nothing but trouble with them. I guess we'll just have to wait until Asus manages to release a proper bios...

I manually set every single voltage to the recommened setting, even ran stock, and it was still BSOD city. I've reverted back to 0803, problem solved. (That and turfing that POS Xfi Tit.Pro. )

I've tried different video cards, different PSUs, fresh install of Windows, loading BIOS defaults - nothing changes it. Also in my BIOS settings, all the "wake from ___" options are disabled.

Just instaled my new p5q deluxe and booted it up. I really like the bios options. Im going to have some fun with this board. Which bios should I use with my e8400? Should I just flash to the most recent offical bios?

still 803 for me too with q9450

anything higher is loss of speed step then erratic e then the inevitable bios recovery game

rock solid on 803 though @ 3.5 24/7 with speed step - happy with that and stopped doing bios updates

Reflash the bios via EZ flash with one dimm and no OC... then remove the CMos battery for 30 minutes or so, put itback in and hopefully all will be fine... had same issues on some other boards due to a bad flash...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    My hunch was correct!!

When I got home & hit shut down, it did not shut down!! Same issue. The Operating System would shut down and conclude, leaving a black screen - but the PC wouldn't power off. I had to manually hold down the Power button to turn the system off. This was on BIOS 0803.

The only time my system completely shuts down is after the first Boot Up after a BIOS Flash (Clearing CMOS). Whether I'm on Stock (Defaults) or OC ... whether I'm on 0803 or 1403. It's the exact same behavior.

This leads me to believe, as far as I can establish at this point, my problem has nothing to do with truehighroller's bug ... nor does my problem seems to have anything to do with the BIOS. I'm getting identical results on 0803 & 1403.

I know for a fact that no hardware (or BIOS) changes were made to my system anywhere around when the Shut Down problem started - however - I keep updating software and installing newer applications. At this point I'm strongly believing that my Shut Down woes are a software complication. In most likelihood, I'm going to format my hard drive & reinstall Vista. I'm going to stay on 1403 for now and see how I make out with a fresh reinstall of Vista.

Question, how does a person know when they need to adjust the Cpu/NB skews? Or, does anyone change them and of course why? Just trying to confuse myself more before my next cup of coffee.

I have had an interesting shutdown problem if you will since I got my board, unlike yours tho. Mine, when I get a hard lock when trying to reach a higher clock,etc..If I hit the power button and hold it in, the system will shut down, but pop right back up again, weird to say the least. I figured mine had something to do with PM, but I have no odd settings in there and windows is configured to shut down when the power button is depressed.. go figure.
