i dont see how C1E can harm anything as all it does is switch multipliers, thats all. speedstep mighta messed with your windows or maybe even your bios. a clean reflash and a reinstall of windows probrobly woulda solved that.

Thanks for the reply. I know all the warnings about C1E and speedstep but had 0 problems with it on my previous rigs, once I got a stable 24x7 setup. BTW, C1E in a default setup is supposed to lower voltage, not just multiplier.

It didn't mess with my OS in this case as clocking things down a bit allows the NEC app to work no problem. So, a clean OS install not needed. However, I will next clear CMOS and remove battery as a try to get back to my once stable settings.

I actually feel lucky to have the NEC app cuz it flags instability before having to sit out Prim95 for hours.
