I have the exact problem with the board, sometime I have to turn it down and up few time till it boots (with 7/10 bios on stock). I described by problem here - http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...&postcount=679 we probably had bad luck and need to RMA it.

The reason I haven't RMA it yet is I still have lots of work to do on it, RMA will take few days when the board does boot it run solid without any problems. I haven't shut it down for a week now.

Can you write yours spec and where you bought the board ?

no post everytime i reboot or save setting in bios at any mhz, even stock. need to hold power button for it to off, then on again to get it booting. not really a serious problem but very annoying.

the only same hardware i have with you is the 4870. i swop ram/psu/cpu and it doesn't work. you can try powering it down by holding the power long enough. the next reboot will work.

How much is "long enough" for shuting it down ?

Definitely RMA the board, if it is not running correctly at stock settings.

Can you explain me exactly your method of turn off the board ?
After you try to power on the board and no light on the diagnostic led, what you do next ?
I cannot power it down by pressing on the power button for few seconds (not with the case button and not with the on board button), I have to turn off the PSU to shut it down.

I'm guessing we have same type of problem but not the exact problem.

once i get the no display on the diagnostic led. i press and hold the casing power buttom till it shutdown. usually takes abt 5s. then the next powerup everything is fine

    i have ver 5.1...

i am almost positive that it is your Sapphire HD4870...have you tried another video card?

EDIT:...do this: increase your NB voltage to about a +0.40 or +0.50 add...and also, your CPU PLL voltage to either 1.6v or 1.7v...those two might help with this save and reboot problem with the no post.

you and shrekogre have the Sapphire HD4870...to me it sounds like that card is causing the problem...interesting that Biostar produced the previous bios to stop the no post problems for the PCIe 2.0 9800 series cards...i am thinking that ATI's new series has a quirk in their bios causing a misfire with Biostar's bios.

Now I'm glad I use previous generation graphics, lol. Mine is rev. 5.1 from the egg, fwiw.

I'm still using the E7200 on this board but have switched over to my 2x2GB Reaper 1066 kit. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the bandwidth once I dialed up the DDR2 Enhance from 'Auto' to 'Enabled' I ran my 1150's up into 540-550fsb range but this kit is working really well with only 448fsb and that way I can keep the chipset/VTT/PLL voltage nice and low.

I didnt try it with other video card, but the problem isnt at the video card and I'm sure in 100%.
This board was designed to show error message on the diagnostic led (the 2x 7-segments) when a video card isn't connected to the board - 2E, You are welcome to try it.
When I boot the computer without a video card the diagnostic leds don't show anything, I have to turn off/on few times to get the 2E error. After that I reconnect the video card and play with the turning off/on untill it boots.

I talked on other forums with people that use 4870 with this board (even 4870 crossfire), they didnt have problem.

have you tried leaving the board totally disconnected without any power cables hooked up; removing the memory and video card; detach any hardware connect cables like SATA and IDE to the board and then, remove the battery and leave it overnight with the CMOS in the clear jumper position?

if you live in the USA, you can go buy a PCI or PCIe inexpensive video card from wal-mart and then return it once you have found that it is not suitable for you

everytime i post without my 9800 in, i get about 4 quick post codes before it stops on 2E...

since you are not getting 2E everytime, i would do what i said in my previous post: clear CMOS overnight with battery & hardware out (except for cpu) and everything unhooked.

if that does not help, then RMA the board.

You are not kidding, my man! The GTL's on this board are so responsive - I am running ridiculously low chipset & VTT voltages compared to where I had to set a certain board with 'E' in the model name which got RMA'd after consistently flaking out on a daily basis. If the new one is not any better I may very well ask my shop to get me another I45 and I'll just add a firewire card for my vidcam - or get the 'D' model & hope it's a good one.

I'll post my settings when I've pushed everything down to the lowest stable volts at 3.8 on the E7200.

Bad joke: What is ASUS without U?

*Note: I've owned some half dozen ASUS boards in the last few years or so, and I've been snakebitten 2x back-to-back lately.*

this is an excellent board for a budget board.

once you get the hang how to set the bios setting under "O.N.E.", this board can soar!

    have you cleared "NVRAM?"

have you cleared CMOS with battery out; everything unhooked; memory, VC and devices detached for a full 8 hours?

Right now I'm only running my 1066 Reapers at 1075 with the E7200 at 3.806GHz but the throughput is well dialed in. I needed +0.300 Vcore, but only +0.250 Vdimm, +0.200 on the chipset, and +0.100 VTT. GTL's are 0.63 on both cores and 0.56 on the MCH with PLL at 1.5v. Not too shabby IMO for a 50% cpu OC on fairly quiet air

I may even be able to push a hair lower on chipset & VTT, and am considering placing the E0 stepping 8400 on this thing!

Anyone able to run a 9800gx2 on this board? I get a halt at 85, no video.

7/10 bios, works fine with many other cards.

What RCOMP are you using? Try Config 3 500fsb 1/1 DDR-1000. I have two sets of Ram that don't like high memory speeds hit some kind of wall going above 500.
Ryzen 9 on the test bench... Sometimes older generation/tech as well.
