Yep I'm with you twwen; I will be reconfiguring my loops with no dyes. I'll be going towards with color tubes with distill water and PT nuke.

I don't have any in my loop anymore, I read on here somewhere that it seemed that feser dye + PT nuke = reaction and bad stuff, so I left it out. If 1 drop is safe though and is beneficial then I'll put one in.

Eeeew Blue gunk. I hope that doesn't happen to me I used Feser UV with Distilled AND PT Nuke(more than 1 drop Meh Rev 2 will have the pre mix so hopefully this is a fluke. Good luck on the build man.

    2) Would people prefer a smaller image size? Say 800x600? At the moment i feel like they are a little over-powering, they take over the page.

You can also use Imageshack they have an easy to use toolbar and you can create albums

I wouldn't know. It seems to be a bit of a lottery. Some have problems, others not. There's too many other factors at play to be sure of the cause.

    Part 5 - Interlude

***Just before we take a break to divert for a moment, i've place my final order at PPCs this morning, so that should arrive late next week.***

A few of you know about my other passion/hobby. For those who don't, i'm a biker. I've got an '88 Kawasaki ZXR250 which i've had for just under a year now. I particularly enjoy riding up in the ranges, we've got some nice roads up in the local hills.

However, just two weeks ago i had my first real accident. I mean i've dropped the bike whilst stationary before, but never a real off.

    Anyhow here's what happened:
I was in the left lane at the lights, behind about 5 cars. At the front in the right lane was a big truck...
The lights went green, and we moved off. I was in no hurry, happily traveling amongst the rest of the traffic.
So we pulled out of the intersection, accelerating up to about 40km/h. The right lane was stuck behind the truck, who was struggling to reach 20kn/h . I was still speeding up on my way to 50km/h (still behind the other cars), and was passing the cars in the right lane. Just as i was about to pass the truck, the car behind the truck decided she wasn't going to wait anymore, and swung out into my lane, into me!

So i braked and swerved; those who have ridden before know that those two maneuvers are mutually exclusive (you do one or the other, never both simultaneously). I lowsided and rolled into the gutter where i watched my nike slide ~15m down the road. I was cringing as i watched the bike crumble, bits of plastic flying out from underneath.

To cut a long story short, i got up and with the help of some guys who saw the whole thing and stopped to help we pushed the bike up onto the footpath. I was ok, mainly shock but my knee was a mess. The lady stopped and came back, we exchanged details and she left.

    Our conversation:
    Her: "Are you OK?"
Me: "I'm ok, a bit shaken"
    Her: "What happened?"
Me: "You nearly ran me over"
Her: "OMG! I had my indicator on though!"
Me: " SO!!!? I was next to you! "
Her: "But your bike can accelerate twice as fast as my car..."
Me: "That's got nothing to do with it!? "
Her (in a lower vioce): "I'm sorry, i didn't see you there"
    Me: "Obviously "

She doesn't think she's at fault cos she didn't actually hit me (thanks to my sweet ninja reflexes). But i've got the law on my side, and a signed witness statement to boot!

Here's some pics of the damage:
The bike fell and slid on it's left side.

Wish me luck with the whole process of insurance claims and the like...

    Sorry for your fall, man!!!

Now, you're getting as bad as RRR with the off-topic updates... motorbikes... Aussie football next? lol

I don't ride motorbikes, but I have had my fair share of spills on road racing bikes, all the same.

Glad you are alright, mate !! Sue, sue, sue.. oh sorry.. forgot you're not American

I thought you Americans had no idea what AFL was!?

Not me, mate. I have lived in three continents, born a Brit, raised in Asia, and very nearly became Aussie myself (sorry.. I chose America, much to my father's chagrin) lol

Sorry to hear about the fall - I know what it is like to come off a bike due to the ignorance of other motorists and I can tell you that my response to her above comments would have been no where as near as calm and collected. The stupidity of some is just astounding!

man that sucks about the spill. Ferrings are eXXpensive! I slid my CBR the same way as yours and to replace my ferrings cost an arm and a leg. Good thing she's paying for them.

As I'm sure you know the old adage about bikes:

There are 2 types of motorcycle riders : those that have gone down, and those that will go down.
They say the definition of madness is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

i cringed when i saw the damage on the bike

alot of people dont have respect for bikers, sometimes
its like a battle between the two where i work (3 mile highway)
its either bumper to bumper traffic or 75+ mph

    Cheers,
I can honestly say, that while this incident was an accident; based on what i've seen some people really are out to kill us bikers. I'm talking about people lining me up at T intersections, waiting for me to get close enough and then pulling out right into me. I'm talking about those jerks in the BMW X5's and Suby WRX's that jump on my tail when i pass them and try to get as close to my rear wheel as they can. I've lost count.

The biggest problem is awareness. Car drivers just don't look for motorbikes, they don't register in their limited existence.

In other news my last order at PPCs has been shipped. I'm not telling what's in it, you'll find out when it gets here. As soon as my backplate for the supreme gets in from flabbergast i'll be in business.

Oh and i got some tips from Tremeloes

    DAMN!!!

Glad you're ok! Bike can be fixed, and thank goodness you have a witness. I don't know about AUS, but here in the states motorcyclists tend to get the raw side of the deal unless there are witnesses. I've been lucky to keep it shiny side up...only a couple speeding tickets. Still, glad you're ok.

Here in OZ bikers are treated like common criminals by Mr Plod. We are targeted by police with all sorts of bizarre tactics, and are assumed guilty until proven innocent.

In my state (Victoria) it's even worse. We have a draconian system where the law is made and ammended to protect people from themselves. Political correctness gone too far i tell you.
Get caught breaking the limit by 2km/h? That's a $150 fine and 3 demerit points, thankyou very much. My speedometer is only factory calibrated to +/- 10% by law, yet the cops can book you for breaking the limit by 1%!

Our speed cameras are hidden out of view, they generate millions in revenue each year for the state government, with no real impact on reducing the road toll (possibly made things worse as people now watch their speedos instead of the road). Just recently the police started dressing up in camo and hiding in the bushes with their radar guns up at the black spur (favourite road for bikers).

I'm becoming increasingly dissolusioned with my country and the direction our government (particularly local) is taking.

Glad you're ok but man, that sucks. This is exactly why I've given up bikes. We have the same problem here with irresponsible, idiot drivers. I hate giving in to it but the older I get, recovery becomes more of an issue. At my age, coming off a bike would most likely result in full body traction.

Anyway, I hope that your insurance gets sorted without drama.

Bummer sorry to hear that man. I've been contemplating getting a bike for a while now. Everytime I see one I just want one. I came real close of purchasing a 98 R6 Raven edition, but then again I always shy away from it. I think about the crazy drivers here, and so many close encounters just by driving a car, its not every welcoming.

Wow, you hate to see stuff like that happen. Definitely glad you're ok and I hope everything works out with the insurance. No reason you should have to pay for another's idiocy. Basically my view is that drivers everywhere are idiots, and the bigger the vehicle is that they are in the more obnoxious they act. So everyone regards bikes as fodder... sad but from my experience it's true. I hope you don't let some jerks discourage you from a great hobby

Yeah, as nuts and scary as it can sometimes be, it never dampens my enthusiasm.
There's nothing quite like a sunny sunday afternoon out in the hills, the little ninja screaming it's head off at 18,500rpm
