I have a P5E3 Deluxe that im testing out & wondered whats the max FSB that these board tops out at in general?

Most 65nm quad-cores are limited to around 480-500MHz without serious tweaking and voltages... IMO BIOS v1109 works best for 500+...

Thats some wicked FSB settings there. I don't know how much further you can go and maintain stability. 564 is definately up there.

I listed one on ebay for $150 and the guy who won decided not to pay me. anyway before I relist has anyone successfully flashed this board to p5e3 premium or ws evolution? I just thought i'd ask before I blow money on one.

here's what happened to my rig just after I hit 550mhz fsb with this board.

There are to many physical differences between the Premium and Deluxe for a successful flash. The premium has 3 phase DDR3 pwr and dual phase on the NB. Also the Premium has one less pciex1 slot than the Deluxe. $150 is a good price especially if you are including everything the retail package has.

edit: the pic doesn't show what did happen to your board above 550?

Hey, I was wondering if I could get some help/suggestions with this board and my Q9450 Revision C1. Specs in sig.
stable settings for 8x400
CPU vcore 1.3
PLL 1.64
FSB 1.28
NB 1.55
SB auto
CPU/GTL Auto
NB/GTL Auto

When I tried 8x425 with those same settings BSOD.

Bios 1303 now available but after flashing within the biosI got error beeps and no post. Looks like a memory issue and I am going to try a 1gb stick with a 1.5 voltage setting to see if it posts. I get 1 long 3 short a long pause and 1 long.

Brave758, I see you've got 4870s. I'm about to build a rig for a mate with my old(ha ha) P5E3 Deluxe and a 4870X2. Do I need a specific bios to run with this card do you know?

RLM, using bios 1109 with no probs. I haven't heard of any need to use a specific bios to run them

Bios 1401 (beta) is out http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us and since I had vga issues for some unknown reason with 1303 I went to 1401, flashed with eztool and usb stick as usual without issue. I know the P45 boards are all the rage but just remember our board has a little more than the P45. Xfire with full lanes x16x16 is nice even if its not that big a performance jump, still getting bios updates so someone is still giving support. Say what you want about asus they do stick with their hardware longer than others. Tech wise I think this board will hold up well till nehalem.

thanx for sharing, the q6600 still holds well against the newer 45nm quad chips, and paired with a good mobo/chipset like x38/x48 or P45 even more performance can be had. My friend has a q9450 clocked to 3.4ghz in a 790i board and while faster than my q6600 in benching/games even he admits he hasn't seen a really big jump over his older 680i and q6600 rig. Of course the extreme 45nm quads pretty much blow away the older versions but there are still a few oems using qx6850 in their builds.

1401 works fine so far for me, but I would wait for official. As far as upgrading your q6600, wait for nehalem. Your performance would not be much greater. Thats a good overclock.

Anyone got any tips on how to recover from a bad bios flash tried the "crash free" route but it doesn't even seem to get that far just sat there with a blank screen.

Ok guys as no one has any ides ive decied to start looking for a new mobo. (note use the method described to flash the bios to a earlier revision in this forum with extreme care.... lol ya as i found, there is a much safer method which i found out later that doesn't run the same high risk of frying your bios).

Anyway back to the new mobo.
1 wifi would be nice but could be limiting
2 needs to be x38 or 48 chipset (i want crossfire at x16 times)
3 is now the right time to wait for x58 and go for the big upgrade ?????

I have 3 mobo's in mind i'll see if your advice is the same but i'm very tempted to just ride the strom and wait for core i7
