This board has been ultra stable for me. So stable I am bored. Itt crunches through my games and converts video files and other tasks without a skip. Still haven't messed with the wifi, probably should to make sure it works. Haven't had a need to really push it so I just let it run at FSB333 and 3ghz with my Q6600. Compared with my old A8R32mvp Deluxe there really isn't much difference in speed in everyday tasks. Of course it smokes my games on my 21" LCD and my HD2900xt runs fine. Temps are great, even when I ran it at FSB420@3.4ghz, but being this is sorta my dream build I am taking baby steps, plus there really isn't much need for insane clocks. I don't need raid at the moment but I want to run a raid 0 config just to see how well it performs, or maybe raid 5.
Future upgrades: Better video card something PCI/e 2.0, almost surely ATI. Storage wise I am going to add as I can afford. If I can throw 100 bucks a month at it I will try for another matching 500gb drive or 2 (or 3!). I will save for a Raptor 150gb for the OS's, or 2 74gb models and dedicate each drive to a particular OS. Getting ready to install Vista Home Premium (sp1 version) 64bit and Ubuntu 8.04 on their own partitions, will update with any issues. The newest Ubuntu kernel can install wothin windows but I always prefer to leave them in their own partitioned space. Its always saved me in the past, especially with Vista on 2 other 170 Opteron builds. Both started BSOD for unknown reason then one magically started working again without me doing anything (WTF!). With so many users (four kids ages 10, 6, 4, 3
) and the various software they purposely or accidently install makes Vista go crazy, it really isn't as forgiving as XP pro so I mainly run it for the kids games and DX10. I played with it for about year and said forget it XP just works so I will stay with it for now.
The newest beta of Firefox blows away IE7. I didn't realize how IE7 was so slow even with decent hardware. Pages load real fast and the interface is intuitive. It has become my primary browser for now. Well thanx for all the great info and if anyone can report what exact issues they are having with bios 1209 I would appreciate. I want to try and duplicate the issue to see if its hardware related.![]()

About the cpu temp pro on my p5e3 deluxe, well i decided to sell the p5e3 deluxe and now have a p5e3 premium lol the temp problem is exactly the same so im assuming its my e8400 thats broke stupid intel crap! oh well im only using this cpu till the 1600fsb quads get cheaper so im going to o/c this to 4ghz on my premium.

I have to say,so far I'm still with BIOS 0601.LOL!!
I haven't had any need to go over that. Why? Because I has been so freaking stable, as no other board has ever been....
I'm currently running Crucials Ballistix 1600 4GIGS at 8-8-8-24-1T without a sweat. I know it's not that extreme, as new and better DDR3 memories came out.
I've played all my games without a single BSOD. And runned every single video edition application, + 3D Max and Maya...
Not a problem, for the first time I can say my system is flawless and still oveclocked...
But anyway I'm so happy, and calmly waiting for Nehalem.... no other upgrades until then....

How far back is 0601. Personally I am still with 1203 and it has done me right. Can just slight variations in hardware configs cause that much of an issue? Could it be more OS and Driver related than anything to do with the hardware itself? I am getting ready to triple boot with Vista and Ubuntu and will report any problems that I encounter, but I can remember passed problems with builds when I changed videocards or added a NIC or souncard and things went south without any reasonable explanation.
I had an issue on one build with gpus when I went to a DX9 gpu from a DX10 and no amount of registry/driver cleaning would fix it (drivercleanerpro/ccleaner/registry mechanic). For some reason it would not recognize the 8800gt as DX10 compatible, had to do a reformat/reinstall to resolve it. And that Vista install was only a few months old.

thx for the quick answers guys
@Brave758: i tried 1109 but my bios just wont start when i change anything. i change the bios, the pc reboot and nothing, just a black screen. i have to turn off the comp and restart and then i always have the " overcloaking failed " on startup
@malkiewicz: i left everything on auto , i just changed the ram @ 1111 (it crashed last night @ 1066)
im a real noob with all this so i dont mess to much with the bios , i've been reading forums for a month but its not clear for me so i finnally posted here![]()

I know with mine i have to power off every time i change a bios setting. Have you loaded defaults, Updated bios, power off- reset- remove batt, back into bios load default, power off, entered req'd settings, power off (maybe a batt out reset but i know mine is happy if i only do that after a reflash). I took me a while to find a bios i was happy with, as newer isn't always better i don't know if maybe there mem or even mobo specific. When i first got the board i was pulling my hair out but i turn out to be a bad stick of ram

Razack – I’m not sure if you’re using liquid or air to cool your system, but I believe it’s possible to OC this chip to 3.2ghz on Air…. If the temps are low enough the settings below should help… If the temps are too high keep the FSB Frequency the same and reduce your CPU Ratio…
This should help, but its going to require some tweaking on your part....
Use CoreTemp to monitor your system:
Ai Overclock Tuner – Manual
CPU Ratio Settings – 8
FSB Strap to North Bridge – 333

thanks again
im sorry, i forggot about the cpu cooling system , i have a zaltman CNPS9700
i came home late so ill try your settings tomorrow and i'll let you know .
i have a question though, when you say tweak , in what order do you do that and if the pc start, is occt or another program can tell you if the settings are stable or do i have to wait and see if the PC crashes?
told you im a noob but since im toutching the hardware i'd rather ask a stupid question instead of breaking something![]()

BIOS 1109 does not show voltages as FSB Termination, DRAM Voltage, CPU PLL ... etc.
the Everest also does not show these voltages. Sample only Vcore and some temperatures!
I questioned the Asus on this, but i did not get reply!
I am deceived, or alone my Mobo that does not show these data?
It has some form to visualize these voltages?
Sorry for my bad english!

There’s nothing wrong with your board… The MB Defaults to Auto every time you update your Bios or until you manually enter your voltages - unfortunately default settings are not displayed. For example – When your DRAMs set to Auto it usually sets it to 1.5v (This can cause problems which includes the dreaded BSOD). Usually the Auto settings are okay, but if you want a stable system, and if you’re going to OC you need to increase your volts. I’ve heard that this board can over volt some CPU’s when it set to Auto.
Basically IMO Auto = Bad!!!!!
