That's great! Will you be willing to share the settings that you've changed in BIOS from default?

I am running @ 7-7-7-21/2T, 1.7Vmem, 1.29Vnb with cpu/nb/mem skew all tweaked and still get occasional BSOD.....

Besides, the hard disk light stays on whenever I put the system into S3 and if left by itself for long will result in data corruption on the HD.....

I'll post my bios settings tomorrow evening (on travel for work). Did you see that there is a new beta bios out today? It's version 0602, posted by pmp in his Asus bios thread.

Can't play around with the FSB too much... system won't post. 8.5 multi seems to be working well with my X3360 though. OCCT and 32M SPi stable - everything air cooled.

Tried BIOS 0602 last night. I am a happy camper!

Suspend (S3) actually works now! With BIOS 0601 and prior, most of the time the hard disks and fans will stay on and machine will not wake up. But with 0602, it works correctly in turning things off and coming back on!

In terms of stability, I can only say that with the same settings as 0601, feels the machine is a bit more stable so far, with no crashes while playing 3D games yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed.....

Haven't looked at O/C results yet as I would much rather have a "Rock Solid" system first before "Heart Warming" oc.....

It turns out that I have become blind, deaf and probably stupid since last time visiting this forum but for the love of God, I can't find this beauty... Any chances of a link to PMP's BIOS thread or a downloadable link?

    Thanks in advance!

Man.... All good things..... DON'T LAST The S3 problems came back after 2 days with 0602. When entering S3, system will fail to completely shut off power to HDD/FANs and others. System will then have to be reset.....

How can you keep your cpus stable with vcore so low? I have a qx9770 with a 400x10 multiplier and I can't get it stable with vcore lower than 1.5 V... Is this all right?

I think 1.5 is a bit too high. Take a look at this thread and see if you can adjust your VTT, VNB and VFSB to make lower VCore work.

hi guys, i've got an EVO for testing with 8600s, and read some reports about issues with this combo...
my experience was its basically all about the NB voltage, if i set more than 1.45v the mobo will be completely unstable...

    my settings:
    0601 bios
    333strap
    1T
    DRAM controls disabled
    clock twister lighter
    perf. level auto
    8-7-6-21 everything else auto

    1.525-1.5375v from bios
1.36v vtt (over 1.36v: unstable, and sometimes dont post)
1.45v nb (over 1.45v: unstable, and sometimes dont post)
    1.20v sb
    GTL's auto

    load-line cal. auto
    cpu skew 200
    nb skew 100
    spectrums disabled

decent 4700mhz 8M, it was really hard to reach

and today's best shot, all air 01 over 95k with 4870x2

continue on subzero in few days

Very interesting article, thanks! I'm trying to get it stable tweaking all voltages but for now I didn't get what I want.

    My voltages:

    Vcore 1.5V
    VTT 1.36V
    VNB 1.45V
    Dram 1.86V
    Cpu PLL 1.60V
    Cpu GTL 0.67x
    SB 1.05V

This board seems to dislike high VNB and VTT... good for us. My voltages won't even get to the yellow zone and system seems to be quite stable. 1.28 VTT and 1.39 VNB... weird thing is that my RAM is the most stable when I set the BIOS between 1.5 and 1.6. That's where Asus software reads it between 1.8 and 1.9. If I set BIOS to 1.8 Asus AI reads 2.55.

You mean I should actually try to lower the other voltages to get a stable lower vcore?

It doesn't in mine, I can't get a stable situation at <1.5V vcore for the life of me.

Actually there's a strong vdrop at load, so the actual voltage is 1.37-1.38, but I don't like the temperatures.

I'm still trying to go lower... Picked my clock at 3.6 for 24/7 use because my load temps are most reasonable at that clock speed.

At 3.6 I can lower the vcore up to 1.3V. I don't know why for 400 Mhz more I need to raise it so much.

We have quite similar configurations, same mobo, same cpu cooler, same video card!

Yeah having the same config is a good thing. I had hard time getting my setup stable with all the dual core replies.

That extra vcore makes sense though... I need ~.1v to go from 3.7 to 4.0 - only .2GHz.

I think I'll stay at 3.6. I've got about 30° C (!!!) lower temps at load, and the only real difference is in benchmarks. In actual applications and games there's no relevant difference.

True. The problem I'm having now is to get the damn system to post with any multiplier below 8. Pisses me off... I'm pretty close to RMA the Intel system and go back to AMD. GRRRR!

Why do you need to post below 8?

To use higher FSB and see if I get more stable system. My only problem is posting these days... if I set my mem to anything over DDR3-900 it won't post or Winblows breaks while loading. I have a pair of Mushkin Ascend and a pair of G.Skill HZ, both 2x2G. Mushkin runs a bit better but still some issues.

If you manage to boot at a desired setting, I've discovered this new stress test software, looks like it's quite better than Prime95:

    http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=705992

It actually gave me 10°C higher temps than Prime95!

Thanks mate... I'll give that a shot right away. I'm rather disappointed that I can't get my RAM to run at a reasonable speed but haven't given up yet.
