PART 4: The Watercooling gear - Continued

Now here's where things get interesting...

Yesterday i decided to drain and dismantle my open-desk loop to enable me to clean and prep the parts for the new build. So here's what Saturday morning looked like!

Just look at those tubes! Can you say DISGUSTING!? But just you wait, there's more to come...



The EK supreme didn't look to bad from the top, but here's what the base fins looked like after removing the accelerator plate:

Absolutely filthy! I've no idea what those little things are, but you can bet your house on one thing:

I will never, ever again use UV dye.

Here's all the parts after a good scrub in near-boiling water.


And just as a side note, I spent most of Saturday night flushing the blue crap out of the rad. I think i did it 15 times and the water still comes out blue .
I know it's not recommended anymore, but would a quick (like 5min) dose of vinegar in the rad help to remove the gunk? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?


Right. Before i finish up, here's one last pic of my old PC. Notice the Xtreme CPU cooler i'm using!


Idle temps went from 20 to 46 deg C, i quickly down-clocked to 2.4GHz (from 3.05GHz) and i'm now sitting at a balmy 37 deg idle. After 20mins of OCCT it loads at 57 deg C.

I can't wait to get back on water! Watercooling........FTW!

Can't say the same for that tubing and gunk in the supreme - glad you were able to clean it all up.

In regards to the rad I am not sure about that - wasnt there a lot of talk on this lately and the general consensus was not to use vinegar ever?
