philbrown23, done that and didn't work, raise nb and FSB to +0.3v.
I think that is my cpu cause before this board i had a Neo2-fr with same results. (exactly the same)

    I don't think your calculations are right . 424x9.5=4028mhz not 3600.

Why so many problems OC-ing e7200????
I still have a good'ole trusty DS3 (965 chipset?), and have me 7200 running at 3.94Ghz with 1.325Vcore.... I'm not even pushing for higher, cuz it wont matter much for me as I play COD2, 4 and I'm limited by my AIW1900 card.... But I
m sure I could reach 4Ghz with higher Vcore easy...

I see many users having problems with e7200 last weeks... OC only to 3.3-3.5 GHz with high voltages and high temps (45-55C) in idle and default, too... There is no new revision (I think) , but a few of them have cpu with "B" instead of "A" in FPO number ... I had e7200 and no problem to get 4GHz stable with 1.4V, so I donīt understand what is happening

I check two E7200 with two different boards and get same OC 355x9 v1.375 bios with vdroop v1.33.
My cpu have B instead of A.
    I'm also confused.
I think we are getting bad chips.

the B's are better chips then the A's man, could you guys that are having problems post up pics of your bios or list all options in the overclocking section, I'll be able to help more that way. Also my 3 day old E7300 died today while under DICE but before that it clocked horrible unless it was at the 9.5 multi then it still clocked worse then the 7200 so just FYI.

I already donīt have my e7200 I sold it... but I remember it was "A" and I need to give 1.24V on vCPU for 3.6GHz and 1.328V for 3.8GHz to get it stable...

I have a E7200 with the A-batch. Was benching some stuff at about 4GHz with 1.36VCore. Here's a SuperPi 1M run for example.
    I void warranties...

I bought E7200 and P5Q-E motherboard and I tried overclocking it a bit... I raised the FSB from 266 to 333 (3.16Ghz on cpu), but I also had to raise the voltage up to 1.25 so that the CPU was prime95 stable but i noticed two things. Prime95 always crashes on the Core#1, #0 works fine even at 1.18V. And the other thing, when idle, Core temp reports temperatures 32°C and 20°C for core#1 and #0. What could be the cause of that difference in temperatures? When both cores are under load the temperature is almost equal max 1° difference. Do I have a bad chip or maybe there is just bad thermal junction between die and heatspreader?

It is an SLAVN, and batch A. VID 1.15V

Only 4500mhz suicide shot on water
My watercooling is far from optimal because my Apogee GT is not mounted tight enough (stupid screws).
I did some superpi testing @ 4380mhz and the cpu did go over 100c
I had only one hour to test this cpu so have no idea what voltage this cpu needs for 4ghz stable.

Very simple overclock. Just bumped up the vcore to 1.2 and was set to go. No more for tonight(or this morning )

Oh yeah, batch is a Q811A257 1.1 Vid. Motherboard is a DFI DK X38. Its water cooled.

    I think so.
Check mine a few post above. That one couldn't do 4.0ghz with less then 1.29v.

Looks like I got lucky then. I'm afraid to do more, dont wanna fry it. Max fsb of the mobo is only 430 though, so I dont think the chip will fry before then. :P

So, I am tryin to upgrade my system.
I am pondering between a E5200 or the E7200. I know the rough performance difference between the 2, price and OCability is the main thing for me.
My goal will be as close to 4ghz possible cooled by tuniq tower 120 with the cpu I pick.
I know the e5200 is quite new and people and reviews say mixed thing about its OC capabilities. it seems its capable of 4ghz but at higher voltages than air would like.
The e7200, I have learned from this thread, is highly overclockable the older cpu's or the ones that contain A in the stepping code and are...SLAVN or whatever(are all of them that?) the A is the biggest thing I remember reading...those yeild amazing oc's around decent voltages...like 3.8-4ghz @ 1.4v or lower right???
The B ones are struggling at 3.4ghz and higher is what Im reading from this thread.
Well, it just so happens in my computer store I work at we have one E7200 in stock and its a A batch or week 0813....Do you guys think that one will be awesome and worth it over a random e5200?

I will be attempting this on the biostar I45 board...do you think thats good to oc these chips with?
    Thanks
