Ha ha, I cant repeat this trick again
I think some thing special with VGA+Mobo combo
anyone throw Beta cat 8.9's into this (already) CRAZY mix yet?
JoeCamel is FOLDing for... A CURE!!! 70+Ghz (please fold so i dont have to quit smoking. j/k)

Well ... since the last time I had to unplug the PSU, I haven't seen the boost again ... so I'm not repeating either.
By the way, since it might be it's related to the massive power of the X2 cards, could someone test the performance scaling when downclocking the card?

I'm almost 100% sure that this is the monitor + 4870X2 issue. If someone have the ability to test different monitors, it would help a lot.
I have done different tests tonight and I'm sure that my Samsung Syncmaster 245B is the reason for my low scoresMaybe I test my old 19" CRT tomorrow.
You are as good as your samples are!
Pete, I'm using a Syncmaster 226BW at 1680x1050 resolution and I had the GT2/GT3 boost.

Pieter. It's hard to compare your results, cause you are using XP and single card. I did 100K single card on air in vista, so I don't have single card problems..only CF.
My configurations is like Gautums, but I can't get as good scores.
Gautum- What monitor you are using?

Syncmaster 226BW at 1680x1050 resolution and I 'DONT HAVE' the GT2/GT3 boost.![]()
Win7 64 Ultimate
i7 930 - 4200mhz 24/7 - Dtek v2
ASUS P6X58D-E
2 x MSI 6970's xfire
3 x 2gb G-Skill 2000mhz
Samsung 27" LCD
SilverStone ZM1200w psu
2 x 300gb WD Velociraptors Raid 0, 4TB storage
PS3-used mostly for bluray and media server
I don't think the monitor is the full story, it's just a part of the story.
Did you guys upload these crazy results?
Im using a 1280x1024 19" LCD that is a few years old.
My desktop res is also the same (but obviously '03 runs at 1024x768)
If you go down to, say, 800x600, how high can you go on the refresh rate?
Yeah, monitor is just part of the problem. I still have GT3 fps bug and its really low compared to all other tests.
This is so annoying.. I can't get normal score in any situation![]()
You are as good as your samples are!
Hey guys I ran a 03 run that was apparently severely bugged about a month ago (very high scores) I even doubted the runs. However, it was unknown at the time and I reproduced it so I was like wtf? okay! Actually several runs in a row, but I never received any black screens? This was in vista of course.
Also was reading through the thread and changed to 8.9 betas. My score drastically decreased, but I did lower the clocks based on this threads recommendations. Does this run seem legit?

2 4870 GPU's clocked @ 895/1150
my monitor is maxed out at 60hz.
Here's my respective 06, Vantage, and 05 runs.
06 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=7910119
Vantage - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=365278
05 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=4477863
*edit* I just ran some benches just at 870/1100 on the gpu's and the cpu at 4ghz b/c I want to see the refresh rate trick. I scored within 200pts of each other going from 60hz to 75hz. I had to move my resolution to the desktop down to 1280x1024 to achieve the 75hz refresh. I may change the desktop to 1920x1200 now and test out 60hz and see if there is a change in score.
*second edit* ran 03 again at the same clocks but with the desktop at 1920x1200 and 60hz refresh. The score was 100pts greater than the 1280x1024 and 60hz run, and within 100pts of the 1280x1024 and 75hz run.

I tested my old 19" CRT tonight. You can guess what was the outcome![]()
No effect on scores at all. I tested refresh rates up to 160Hz and it didn't change a thing.
That old monitor is huge.. did I really kept that on my table few years a go![]()
You are as good as your samples are!
Darth Sidius had activated the clones! You will never repeat the refresh trick again!
Interesting case! I'm watching like a detective movie![]()
yes its weird sf3d but i believe your score is right for the cpu speed and the test scores are all in line sort of speak but then i see other scores at say 4700 mhz which have normal wings of fury fps for that cpu speed and nature fps then trolls lair and proxycon are higer than people running the benchmark with the cpu 1000mhz higher which isn't right, my own thoughts is that somehow its running these tests at 800 x600 in the background without 3dmark03 knowing about it, but maybe as you say the lower scores are bugged and the higher score ones without the black screen bug are right but i have 2 4870x2s and ran 3d03 at 5200mhz with gpus at 830/1000 and got 135k roughly at 4800 at 840/950 i got 129k someone else on my forum has a similar setup with a quad qx on ss cooling at 5100 mhz got 133k , so i just don't know , its a shame as this is the benchmark which the quad gpus shine, its a shame its now tainted with all this bug business
I just switched from P5E64 Evolution to Rampage Extreme on 0206 BIOS, and I have replicated everything I've shown PERFECTLY with a new installation. My score without SP1 at 4500 is 129k, with SP1 it jumps to 131k, and finally 134k with the refresh rate trick...:S
So, whatever it is, it definitely seems software related...as two completely different boards are acting the same. Also, my scores are the same both on the TOP BIOS and the reference BIOS.
There's one minor difference. The Rampage holds CCC set clocks even after a reboot. On the Evolution usually at least one core goes back to stock.

Yesterday again i'll test all day.
So, I can say - PSU is part of problem, maybe VGAs PWM problem(but why GT2/GT3, i cant uderstand, but i have some thoughts about it). When i change rails, score is rcovered sometimes(even on MSI VGA, but on Powercolor VGA is more repeatable).
I think bug is a low scores, not hight.
