Yes I left the heatpipe and SB alone totally stock.
Removed the Asus NB heatsink and replaced it with my MCW30 and AS ceramique paste. Thats all I have done to the board so far and I cannot complain any. Tweaking my E8600 now, r..e..a..ching for a stable 5.0GHz, but not sure if its going to happen, like my quad better anyways
this board is great my Maximus X38 will be back from RMA this week so looking forward to some head to head comparison.

I still cant decide between MFII+ddr2 or Rampage extreme+ddr3 tbh, both seems fine. But this is out of topic anyway. Just wanted to share my thought. Anyway, thanx Grn, again.

Anybody know what waterblock the southbridge setup takes, im gonna assume that those other mosfets/stuff to the left need cooled, same with the mosfets/stuff to the left of the northbridge??

Here are my idle/load temps so far using a MCW30 attached to the NB heatpipe assy. This is only at 3.2Ghz, breaking MB in.

Come on lets see some clocks

I would like to see your setup for 4.0GHz when you get there if you dont mind.

Took me 4ever to get my chip stable at 4.0 and I still think the volts are kinda high altho temps are very decent.
GTL's are probaly set wrong and the NB / CPU clock skew is new to me comming from a Maximus X38 and there is little reference to it.

    Be patient.

The loops still have air in them and I like to let the MB break in for a couple of days while final micro bubble bleeding takes place.

This guy only posted twice so I doubt I'll get a reply from him, but has anyone experienced this crashing during 3D? I was hoping to get this board but it is bad that 2 reviewers had this issue and another couple of people also (X2beach is second user with this issue he RMA'd and got a P5Q and the issues were gone - means the motherboard was dodgey). If anyone can give me some info on this issue I'd appreciate it.

It was my understanding that OCZ Reapers were not compatible with this mobo, bios 802 added some memory compatability but unsure if that kit was part of it.
I run a 3870X2, I play WOW, Bioshock, Alone in the Dark, Gears of War and Lost Planet, none crash or have ever crashed.
Granted I havent had this board very long but I honestly have nothing bad to say so far.
About to test new bios 1307, need to break 20k on 3dmark

Cheers mate, I think it can't be a common issue, and is most likely a compatibility issue of some kind. I think I'll get one still, if it gives me any issues I can return it and get another I suppose. I have had major dramas with my P5Q-D so I hope to this time get a good board.

I have seen bios 604 recommended for stability and high FSB clocking, but also 802 seems to be popular. I have TeamXtreem 1066 D9 based ram, and I have Cellshocks on the way, are you aware of any incompatibility issues between them and the M2F?

No problems here........Play BF2 and CS and Call Of Duty daily and never had one BSOD.

That guy just did not know how to set up the board or his memory was bad.

Good to hear, I know what I'm doing so I shouldn't have any issues setting the board up, I'm actually looking forward to having so many options at my disposal. I'm going to order it now, so I should have it by the end of this week latest. Here's hoping it's a good example like you guys have

I have 2 kits of TeamXtreem that do 1333+ (Cellshocks coming too) so I hope this board can clock memory high, I intend to have some fun with it.

    Hi,
I believe OCZ reapers are not compatible with that board at Bios 0901.
I switched back my Mushkins(2x2gb Redline 1000mhz). Then everything
    is stable for now.
Meanwhile, i cant lower NB and SB temp under 50C as my room temp is about 30 these days. I pulled of all heat sink, and applied Arctic Silver 5 on both SB and NB. then squeezed all screws tightly. I just can decrease the temps from 65s to 50C.
Maybe i should back to watercooling solution for NB and SB.

That would be great, lucky that the P5Q-D shares the same drivers so most went o-k.

If you have good air flow in your case then invest in a spot cooler,
There fairly cheap and alot less hassle than w/c. 50c is a tad high imo
Mine idles at a cool 32c and wont go above 38-39c full load this is on water tho.

With Swiftech coming out next week with a NB waterblock that will fit right on the existing heatpipe assy. it is an easy solution for cooling the NB, SB, and the Mosfets.

This is great news, I was hoping it was just incompatibility of some kind, most probably ram. Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear you got it stable.

heres a little comparison between the Maximus formula and the Maximus II.
notice the Vcore difference and the formula was weak on the q9550 being that max stable was flaky at best just over 3.7 Ghz.
the Maximus II takes this chip 500 FSB but I'm still playing at the 4Ghz mark for now.

been trying to break 4.0GHz stable for a few days now, 4.0 is stable just cant get anything higher, I also cant get 500 FSB stable on any multi.

How are you running your GTL's?
