    Only hurts really in '03

Doing some digging it seems that GDDR3 clocks very good if your card has a decent VRM (which is why I chose the one I did)

The core and mem vrm's are always separate anyway... if you add a connector for external 12v you should be good to go

    No worries

I'm looking to buy a card myself, but I'm not sure where yet. What DDR2 card has the lowers ns on the memory?

Well after much debate. i am going to order a ASUS 8600GT OC Gear, instead of the TOP. Just think i will go against the flow of TOP cards, and see how i fair

Was going to choose the Gainward 8600GT GLH, but the card costs nearly twice as much, and i wana go back to Ireland to see my girlfriend ASAP, lol. Decided i can wait a little longer though if it means im in this competiton!

Should be ready for action mid next week. Look forward to seeing everyones results!

Ironically, the last 2 days i have been working has been the only time we were completely out of stock of 8600GT's

Hopefully there are some with hynix 2.5 or 2ns ram when we get them in

Measure resistance between PIN #4 and ground.
Resistance *20 = VR. Tune down for more voltage.

Pin 4 is the feedback pin for each of them. Measure resistance to ground and solder a VR ~20 times the resistance (set to max resistance first)

The left one is Vgpu and the right one is Vmem

    interesting

so in future when i look for vmods i should look for Feedback Pin and do the same as you say there??

also Simon how do i know which one is for RAM and which for GPU? >>> just for future reference

    Jup, vmodding is so simple.
FB to ground resistance *20 for VR. Start with max resistance.

Blah, Moonman beats me to it, i already opened the datasheet for RT9259!

@Dino: Just measure the output voltage on the appropriate pin and you'll quickly know which regulator is the one you are looking for (Vgpu output voltage should be around ~ 1.2V, Vmem ~ 1.8-2V)

Just found the voltmods for the nVidia reference/Club3D 8500 & 8600GT:

the GPU vreg is usually beefier, on your card its the set closer to the top (all the caps and mosfets), so the RT9259A that's closer to that area is for Vgpu

Just find all the phase controller chips and yes, it is typically the feedback pin. Works for anything controlled by a standard phase controller. Just jump on google and start plugging in numbers that are on top of the chips, eventually you find the data sheet
