    I have a problem with my setup, and i´m getting very, very upset

    My system:

    Q6600 cooled by Tuniq --> L806 B346; VID:1,2625
    P5Q Deluxe (BIOS 0803)
    GSKILL PC2-8500 (2 x 2048) F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
    Powercolor HD4870
    2x Seagate 250GB (ST3250410AS)@RAID0
    Corsair HX620

    I´m now at 3GHz, with a 333FSB and the memories at 1066Mhz and my voltage definitions are:

    CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2)---> 0.630
    CPU Voltage-----------------------> 1.268
    CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3)---> 0.670
    CPU PLL Voltage-------------------> 1.52
    FSB Termination Voltage-----------> 1.28
    NB Voltage------------------------> 1.18
    DRAM Voltage---------------------> 1.96
    PCIE SATA Voltage----------------> 1.50
    SBridge Voltage-------------------> 1.10
    NB GTL Reference-----------------> 0.630

    My main problem is the fact that the system only boots if a specific divider (FSB/RAM) is used, in my case, FSB=333Mhz and Ram frequency=1066MHz, so the ratio is = 3.201201, i guess.... I´ve tried every one of the other dividers, at the exact same settings, and the system won´t boot. I don´t understand why the hell the memories won´t seem to allow me to use another FSB/RAM ratio.
    With this divider, i can achieve ~3.15GHz (RAM~1120MHz), but above that frequency the system becomes unstable. The problem, i think, is the memory frequency (won´t pass memtest but seems stable at the CPU test~Prime95).

    Could anyone help me?
    Blasar - I have the same mobo / mem / CPU as you, my settings are below. You may need more or less VCORE depending on your CPU to get to 3.4. Try setting to something like 1.40 and see if you can boot.

    BTW, I use the yellow memory slots. I also found that FSB Termination Voltage & NB Voltage are essential to stability, at least for my setup. You also need more DRAM voltage, I have mine set to 2.02 b/c the mobo is known to overvolt. Finally, make sure to set your Performance Level to 8. Interestingly, I couldn't post when set higher (10).

    I couldn't get higher clocks with 1306 but i hope it'll help with stability at current clocks. Man at first i was pushing poor E4300 at over 1,5V and now i can run it just fine at 1,45V.

    Well I am two hours OCCT "CPU" stable but I need to tweak my ram before moving on. Here are my current settings and I would appreciate suggestions for a starting direction. Full system specs are in my sig. I also updated the spreadsheet for bios 1201.
    Thanks.

This is in contrast to any prior BIOS rev where any voltage lower than 1.35 would fail somewhat quickly. May still ultimately error out but if not, I may try to lower again a notch or two.

    All other setting remain the same. Only change was in vcore.

    Just a follow-up that overnight one of my cores failed. I am retesting with a bump to NB now. Still, while obviosuly not 100% stable, I never saw this CPU hold this long at this voltage before.

    Question for the sages: What typically causes one core to fail in Prime95 while the other keeps chugging along for hours and hours? Any observations or knowledge on this?

    Could be quite a few things, but the most likely IMHO is a gtl setting for that core.

    On another note, with the new bios, how is the PL, ie; Transaction Booster? Anyone able to lower it from previous version of bios? I am running 803 and up to 480fsb I was able to run 10 with all but 1 pullin enabled, had to raise it considerably to get 485fsb stable.

    So is everyone using the beta bios linked a few pages back or the one from the normal ftp? Are these 2 links giving the same file? I would have thought the second link is more trustworthy, I have never seen/used the first link before.

    1.) ftp://dlsvr.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5Q_Deluxe

    2.) ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5Q_Deluxe

    Is there now less vdrop/vdroop with the 1306 bios?

    Can the P5Q Deluxe BIOS be used on a P5Q-E board... anyone tried it?
    -------
    Well here's the P5Q-E site: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5Q-E/ and the 1306 BIOS was posted 10mins earlier for the Deluxe (10:28AM) as opposed to 10:48 for the P5Q-E, so I'm guessing the BIOS for either board is identical. I'm pretty sure I saw someone metion this before, but I just wanted to double check again, rather than brick my board.

    Also, if for some reason I don't like the 1306 BIOS, can I simply reflash back to 1201? --- which, other than the PL issue (no PL lower than 10) is rock stable. I'm at 533 FSB right now, with only 1.26v for NB (w/ .625 NB GTL) , 1.88v for RAM, 1.16v for vFSB/VTT & 1.52v for PLL

    What do people get for system temps? Mine seem a bit high at 50 (read with asus pcprobe). Does anyone have active cooling?

    I get 35*C max for the motherboard temp (that's what you meant, right?). No active cooling. I'm using 1.26v vNB.

    Is there less vdroop on 1306?

    Thanks for your reply

    I´ll gonna try your settings, cross my fingers, and see what happens.

    I´m really pissed off with this limitation. Does anyone with this board ever heard of such thing? My system boots only if i choose the 3rd option (starting from the bottom) for the ram frequency, any other option=no boot, no matter the voltages, settings, etc....

    Because, if it´s not normal, something must be wrong with the board or with the mems, and if there´s a problem, can RMA be the solution?

    Regards.
    Sorry for my poor english.

    What program do you use for mesuring motherboard temp? Useing asus ai suite mine reads CPU 57*C SYSTEM 47*C and real temp reads cpu 65*C 65*C 63*C 63*C.

    Regards.
    That is quite odd. It may be a defective board. I have a strange issue too, I cannot boot my ram between 1199 and 1277 MHz. I can get it stable at 499 FSB, DDR 1199 MHz, but if I set 500/1200 it wont boot. Then, I can all of sudden boot at 1277 up to 1333 (haven't tried higher). The board has a massive memory hole, and it really annoys me. I am also thinking my board may be defective, but i don't want to be without it while I'm rma'ing it. Then they'll probably just send it back and say it works fine.

    vNB=1.24

    Ambient temp, no more than 23-28*C

    Been running p95 large fft for over an hour now and asus probe is reading system 49*C, Kinda scarry, What are max temps for the northbridge?

    I don't know, I should have said my system temp is 35*C max, there is no sensor for the NB temp. I don't know where the system temp is read from. Not sure why your temps are so high mate. 49*C sure is getting warm.

    Is your NB heatsink mounted well and is it straight? (may have been damaged in transit) Assuming the system temp monitor is somewhere near the NB, it may be the cause. If not, no idea mate.

    Yes I agree that for the memory part this board is acting wierd...
    I was using AVEXIR DDR2 667 (7ED22-D9GMH) OC to 1200Mhz with 2.02v rock solid stable.
    However when I tried to push further like 1248 it needs massive bump of juice to 2.4v...
    Also for the lantency part I got zero bandwidth gain on changing to CAS4 from CAS5 leaving FSB the same. I was wondering if it's a motherboard or BIOS issue and should I RMA this board at once...it's really bugging me
