XSPC res top qc issues

Yea, I have been waitin on their CPU waterblock the "Edge" for a month now and I might get a Few EK Supreme Acrillic's
because i know they are top notch. I guess I won't order my xspc tops from jab-tech now....

I also like the Danger Den MC-TDX so who knows, I at least have the time to wait and see for a few weeks
so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

It's funny that I report that jab-tech gave me a free pump top (that does work) when they could have just refunded my money and you are talking about avoiding that vendor. I guess the idea is they got a bad batch and that other vendors may have tops with better machining, but that sounds kind of suspect. It doesn't sound like there is a lot of data to back that up.

I don't think many people carry it in the US. I bought from jabtech because they had the best price. I bet most of us order from jabtech and petra's. I order stuff from petra's unless I'm looking for a product they don't carry or don't have in stock. That being said I'd be most of the posters in the USA who bought the restop bought from jabtech.

I usually order from petras. Sometimes from sidewinder. And when I can't find something anywhere else I order from FrozenCPU. Just happened to be I was ordering something compression fittings for about $10 off from frozen when I ordered the pump top. I've never ordered from Jab-tech actually. One plus about frozencpu for me is they're not too far from here so I don't have to pay much shipping and still get it in about 2 days.

my xspc ddc top came from frozen cpu. 1 of the 2 had slight angled when putting in a bitspower male to male coupler...

Heya Guys.. Just wanted to Jump in... The OP did have a QC issue and after a few weeks with the run around from the MFR I fixed the problem myself..

As gojirasan said some had a crooked thread, I pointed it out to XSPC and said that it needs to be improved upon, we've gone through almost two new batches since then and haven't had the crooked barb problem (that doesn't mean to say it doesn't exist).

All in all though we have gone through a lot of these tops and returns/problems are under 3% with the vast majority coming from one batch.. I fully intend to keep working with XSPC and there quality issues, hopefully together we can convince them that quality of the product is every bit as important as the performance. Finally I would like to say that working with XSPC and getting parts replaced that needed to be replaced has been much much easier than the majority of other manufacturers, regardless of their location.

Nice!...I love the fatboy barbs, they are by far my favorite still.

Anyhow, both my regular XSPC top and restop had good threading in the barbs. My restop is now running my CPU loop, works and looks fine. I think some of the threading issues could be resolved simply by using shorter threaded barbs like the fatboys or regular DD highflow barbs. It seems like most of the complaints come from someone using the longer threaded barbs like D-Tek or EK barbs which have something like 7mm of thread length.

Do you guys use anything to tighten the barbs other than your hands? I have a xpsc res top and I have not installed it yet but i read this thread and i put one of my bitspower highflow fittings into the top and noticed the o-ring did not sit 100% when hand tightened. I am hesitant to use a wrench to tighten it much since it is acrylic and it might crack.

EXACTLY my thoughts

as about the tightening i first tighten it as much as it goes by hand and then use a wrench (with some tape on both sides to avoid crashes on those beautiful barbs ) I dont tighten it much. just do it..you will know exactly when to stop..i dont remember exactly but i THINK 1 cycle after the hand tightening is good enough..

sorry to dig this up but i've got a small problem with one of these XSPC Laing DDC Top. It seems that one of the holes wasn't threaded properly and the screw goes in without any screwing motion for about half of its depth. As a result, that screw can't be tightened down fully and the corner has about say a 1mm gap.

Since the top is transparent, I took at look at the O ring and there is a lack of compression in the area. However, filling the chamber with water (from the tap of course; its not in the loop yet) shows no leakage. But I do profess that i do not know if the centrifugal forces of the pump if it's running could cause the liquid inside to be forced out.

Anyone had such a problem?
Can I use a regular tapping tool to retap that hole?

Sorry to say this but, the only appropriate way to fix it is to RMA it. Those threads are stripped out, no way to put them back in unless you go G3/8.

I have three. I love them, but was not impressed at the condition when they arrived.

They all had residue were it was machined out, I mean a good layer. One had this stuff the color of rust in the outlet that I never did get off, and two of them had little pieces or acrylic inside the res from were they blew off the excess. Never did get a few of those out either.

However they do work very well

but you're right (in a way)...stripped out threads cannot be retapped without increasing the size...means I'll have to retap for a larger screw size and retap the pump as well

I have an XSPC Res Top as well and it's flawless. Fits perfectly, great performance etc.
So maybe I got lucky too. I have written two or three e-Mails with questions or requests to XSPC and have never gotten an answer, so in my experience, their customer support is non-existant.

I just got 3 res top from Aquatuning. Must say the quality is not what I expected from the pictures I saw. Have not tried it out yet, but one of the box is missing a LED!
I live in Thailand so its just way too much trouble to send it back. Although things like this should not happen.
