    Idf

some things of interest at anands http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...oc.aspx?i=3377

"Dadi just announced Intel's first mobile Quad Core processor. It will run at 2.4GHz and be used for desktop replacement notebooks. Shipping this year"

"Lost Planet performance of Nehalem is around 50% faster than Yorkfield at the same clock speed (a big hunk of this is due to Hyper Threading):"

And they also wrote but soon after removed

"4:31PM - Cinebench R10 multi CPU bench results in a score of 45850. That's pretty freaking large (faster than the one we got to take a look at). Very interesting indeed."

4:58PM - Calpella will be Nehalem for notebooks. This will happen next year with two and four cores.

    Interesting

I hope they keep this chip for the next 3-4 years. Looks like a VERY flexible chip.

Intel QX9300 is 2.54Ghz not 2.4Ghz, mine is E0 stepping

Lost planet is 50FPS faster, not 50% faster...

My QX9300 can reach 1Ghz over stock on Coolit dock, 500Mhz easy (300x10)

I will be showing performance number in all benches overclocked.

I will be showing detailed pics of Calpella

yeah but then when you move it how long it will hold ? thats the issue none the less is IMPRESSIVE

luck you have charles to play with this stuff early, we need this for our little wcg team

clock for clock nehalen got faster ipc ? and how is performance across the benches with less cache than yorks ? does it have any of the amd issues with the IMC, like cold bug?

is the triple channel memory a great advantage vs dual channel ?

I think the decision to name the chip "Qx9300" could be very confusing to many... But, who wouldn't expect Intel to throw a bunch of misnomers at you.

I am cleared on the mobile platform for discussion, Nehalem I am not.

You would think top media sites would not make so many mistakes.

I ran a battery of benches without improved cooling, in the above screen I was really pushing hard to overheat it and failed.

That Cinebench score is pretty hard to beleive..
    Dual Gainstown at 4500mhz maybe?
Think on that one for just a minute.
It does seem off the scale.

Took 12 guards to try and pry that out of his hands after the pic was taken.
I hear that 3 of them should fully recover.
The others they list as only "possible"

The PCU, more transistors than the 486 CPU. Notice 'shifts control from hardware to embedded firmware'. Sounds to me like this will be awesome for overclocking and not just power saving.

IDF Fall 2008: Intel reveals more Nehalem details, announces 6-core server

Intel announced that the first Nehalem processors to be made available will be desktop processors (Core i7) and high-performance server products code-named Nehalem-EP.

Intel said it is planning to manufacture a second server derivative designed for the expandable server market ("Nehalem-EX"), as well as desktop ("Havendale" and "Lynnfield") and mobile ("Auburndale" and "Clarksfield") client versions in the second half of 2009.

All Nehalem processors will be quad-core versions initially, processing up to eight threads simultaneously, thanks to the use of a revived and updated Hyperthreading technology.

Intel’s 6-core processor code-named Dunnington will be called Xeon X7460 and is expected to become available in servers beginning next month. Intel claims that servers based on the chip already have broken performance records, including an 8-socket 48-core IBM System x3950 M2 server, which became the first platform to break the 1 million tpmC barrier on the TPC-C benchmark, Intel said.

Intel also demonstrated the company’s first mobile quad-core processor and, for the first time, the next-generation Calpella mobile platform, as well as Intel’s upcoming solid state disk drives, which will debut in 32 GB and 80 GB flavors.

    More to come.

They are "faking" the score providing a Cinebench10 version with Cinema4d 11.0 Render engine and call it a usual Cinebench10 score. Pretty lame
