P6T will not have NF200, their 'ROG' board will have it.

I will certainly be on the lookout for boards without the NF200 and ditch any that might have it from my purchasing plans unless they offer something very compelling others don't have.

nForce PCIe bridge for Nehalem board has probably a new name: nForce 1000, but how many Nehalem boards on market will be ready for SLI is a question.

What if they decide that decreasing performance for AMD is totally justifiable? It's theirs now and they can actually sabotage it.

P6T will be cheaper and for me likely enough. Money saved for new cooling.

ASUS P6T Deluxe Intel Core i7 Nehalem Motherboard Up Close and Personal

After Intel's Nehalem platform is no secret anymore, it's time to start looking at the motherboards that will support the new Socket 1366 buddies. One of them is ASUSTeK's upcoming P6T Deluxe mainboard based on Intel’s yet-to-be-released X58 Express, the first chipset to power the Socket 1366 Core i7 Nehalem processors. As part of the whole platform, the P6T Deluxe has a total of six DDR3 slots intended for triple-channel mode and three PCI-Express x16 slots with support for dual and triple video card configurations. It's too early to say which one, ATI's CrossFire, NVIDIA's SLI or both combos. Expect further information when the time comes. i know.. with the 4800 series doing so well and scaling good with crossfire too why not go crossfire instead of sli.. on a pure crossfire board that is..

Nice boards. I'm glad they fixed the SATA arrangement... videocards won't block the ports now.

Maybe switch the 2nd PCI and 2nd PCI-E slots to make it easier for dual slot cooler 3-way Crossfire? That's my only knock on the board.

I thought only Gigabyte motherboard designers were color blind... I guess one got a job at Asus!

Honestly, what's with the purple SB cover? Is it too much to ask to stick with a single color scheme instead of having blue, orange, purple, red, copper, black, and white stuff all over the place? Sheesh.

Chances are with any of the new dual slot cards you won't even see 3/4 of the SB since the card will block it.

I don't think it looks that bad, I'm used to the classic blue Gigabyte PCB. But I do agree that purple is a random color for a SB.

ASUS R.O.G. X58 will sport both CrossFire and SLI


The day after the exciting end of the AOCC, ASUS decided to unveil detailed information on its coming X58 (Nehalem) platform, ASUS P6T Deluxe. On top of that there was also talk about the coming Republic Of Gaming motherboards based on the new X58 chipset. The center of things was the combined support for SLI and CrossFire, which is now possible thanks to NVIDIA putting out and allowing Intel to integrate the NF200 bridge chip. Derek Yu, responsible for the R.O.G. series, told us that the new NF200 is already performing adequately in most cases, and above expectations in other.

He also revealed that the NF200 chip is hot (not in the good way), like so many other chips form NVIDIA, and that ASUS has had to look at a variety of coolings to keep the temperatures at bay. We're eager to hear more about how these combo cards will perform with NVIDIA and ATI graphics cards.

This is a pretty expensive solution though, and not a very convenient one, but we hope that NVIDIA and Intel will continue optimizing the support for SLI on Intel's chipsets, which would of course simplify the choice of platform for the consumers. There is a great chance that this will come at the expense of NVIDIA's own chipset sales so we're not so sure NVIDIA will give Intel anymore than this.

Maybe im confused, but the board pictured I thought was their P6T-Deluxe board and not the RoG Crossfire-x/SLI board mentioned above it.
