The P5Q Deluxe is working out well for me - decent OC'er etc., but it simply will not detect my rocketraid 2322 4x pci-express RAID card. I've tried installing it in both of the spare 16x PCI-E slots with no luck. Bios version also makes no difference (currently running 803). It was working fine in my P5K Deluxe before I upgraded to this motherboard. Any ideas of what to try next? Should I RMA?

so far this board has been excellent for me. No Vdroop is such a luxury that I've almost forgotten. My only gripe is the PCI Slots. Horrible positioning being on the top and bottom of the first PCI-E X16 slot. Even with an MCW60 on my 4870, the 2nd PCI slot is still useless.

I have a asus p5q deluxe, with 2x2GB g.skill pc8800 and q9450, I noticed that if I set the dram speed to 1200 mhz p5q doesn't boot (also set the vdimm to 2.1, specs are 1.8-1.9), but for examples if I set the ram to 1150 mhz and I overvolt the chipset (vNB for example) I have booted but when I run prime95 I have in prime95, how much do I overvolt the chipset to get complete stability??? And how can I set the settings on the cpu gtl reference and the northbridge gtl reference? At this moment I have them in auto, I set q9450@3.2 GHz with fsb to 400 and vcore to 1.25.
P.S: Excuse me for bad english.
I agree Budwise. PCI slots positioning is crappy. I used to have my X-Fi card all the way down on 965-DS3, away from electronics to lower interference. Now it's right next to the grpahic card ugh... Slot below PCIe 16x cannot be used even when i had stock single slot cooler on HD4850. It just closed the air flow way too much and would have heated up because of G card badly. Oh andty BIOS corruption when you do something wrong with memory overclocking. I mean wtf, no Gigabyte board i've ever had (and i've had plenty of them) never corrupted BIOS even if i performed the most masohistic things on them. This ASUS board corrupts it's BIOS if i just look bad at it.
I don't get it how the hell can anything just corrupt BIOS thats not suppose to be writable later anyway, just read only. But oh well at least you can have a backup of latest BIOS and it's settings on USB drive so you can restore it to latest version right there (haven't gone through the BIOS chip swaping just yet...).
Otherwise a very good mobo with loads of features. Though i'd probably get same results with vanilla P5Q thats quiet cheaper since CPU isn't the best overclocker...

Yes I have to agree, the bios seems incredibly flimsy - I have corrupted mine 4 times so far, simply by trying different memory overclocks. It is very irritating. I'm starting to wonder whether something is wrong with my board.
Also it is inconsistent in terms of stability - last night I was stable at 445 FSB, DDR 1186 @ 2.08v vdimm (bios), PL8 and 1.26v NB. Today I turn it on, and the screen stays black and VGA fan spins up to max. I bumped up voltages to 2.12v vdimm, 1.28v NB and errored in <2mins in orthos. I have now dropped PL to 10, and have vdimm at 2.08v and have dropped ram speed to 1116 MHz, and kept vNB at 1.28v - I'm testing again now.
This is really starting to annoy me. Add to that the fact I cant get the machine to boot if the ram is at 1200MHz (but I can get orthos stable at 1199 MHz - 1MHz lower) and I'm seriously thinking I have a dodgey board. If the board is in fact 'OK' this is the most inconsistent, dodgey board I have ever used, and if I could replace it right now, I would.

That's what I thought, but I have tried 0610, 0704, 0803, 1103 and now I'm on 1201 - all do the same thing. I don't see how every bios can be responsible for this, hence me thinking the board itself is at fault.

do you use jumper overvoltage??? and how different between enable and diable this jumper???
Don't use it, I'm on aircooling. IIRC the max without jumper is 1.7v, max with is 2.1v.

^Yes, I can second that. I have also tried bioses 0610, 0704, 0803, 1103 and 1201. This board's limitations are driving me nuts, to say the least.

Thanks mate. I am also only running 2 x 1GB sticks, but cannot reproduce what you are running.
I think I just blew my PSU, it's making a quiet 'sizzling' sound, even when the PC is off but the PSU is still plugged in to power. There is no smell, just the sound. It still works, but I don't want to risk using it anymore. I am going to return it, and I am thinking in the back of my mind perhaps it has been the cause of my instability. I was stable for about a week, then the problems started and I couldn't pin them down.

I have tested it with a dmm and the rails are fine, I was thinking that it could be faulty and producing a lot of ripple. It sounds like arcing or sizzling, I have heard something similar when I had an amplifier with a faulty power switch. It just doesn't sound right to me.
What brand was the psu you had that also made a noise even when pc was off?
Apparently the Silverstones commonly make a buzzing sound but it concerns me, I have never heard one do that. Especially when the pc is off.

I've given up with trying to get XP to work on this board with the ICH10R drivers... I've downloaded them from Intel's site and somehow I only get ICH10R AHCI drivers, no RAID.
Switching to Vista... not a knock on this board though. Lets me get 7000ppd for F@H instead of 5300.
Hello all,
I am on page 64 of this great thread so far, many thanks to BigJoe and Leeghoofd for all their work. I will be receiving my P5Q Deluxe tomorrow and will be using the setup in my sig as this replaces my P5K Premium which was an excellent board with one of my Q6600s. I have 2x2Gb G.Skill PC2-8500 that I just purchased for this new board.
I took Leeghoofd's excellent "Template" and did a little Excel spreadsheet so you can track five overclocks per page. Hope this helps anyone that wants it. If there are changes that I can make to improve this spreadsheet please let me know. Now back to reading.
