btw: with cat 8.8 beta the temps are much lower

    auto fan (27%) , full temp = 73º

    Manual fan speed @ 35%

    Nice report Mascaras

Crysis numbers are far above what some other sites posted, i wonder if a driver issue. IE Tweaktown report 2 x 4870x2 1920x1200 VH = 21fps.

From the pre-release demos i saw, this card didn't do too well in crysis against the 280 (I think the crysis engine is sloppily coded). Do you think you could run some cod4 tests, and maybe test fps on a source engine game for fun/high numbers?

I am really thinking about buying this card tonight.

with catalyst CD Driver ( bundled with card) i also had "bad" performance , but then i installed catalyst 8.8 beta and its really better

1680x1050 Very High = 32 fps ( Catalyst CD driver)

    1680x1050 Very High = 39.5 Fps ( Cat 8.8 beta)

    1680x1050 Very High + AA 4x = 36 Fps ( cat 8.8 beta)

TweakTown was using a P45 which was choking for bandwidth. Not nearly enough to handle these beasts.

The Tweaktown article claims to use a Gigabyte X48-DQ6, i guess it was the cpu.

woul cpu speed really affect his performance that much?

I could understand the effect of fsb speed, but at such high cpu clocks is it really going to be the cpu that's bottleneckign things?

I notice now that Tweaktown used XP.

I thought 4 way crossfire and 4 way SLI didn't work in xp!

I believe that for quad sli and quad crossfire yes a 3ghz cpu is a bottleneck.

I didnt do anything , just install game and run ! ( i already runned the benchamrks over and over again , and always same results )

are you using catalyst 8.8 beta ???? (not the 380mb version , thats not 8.8 beta)

with catalyst of CD Bundle i also had less performance (about -7 fps @ crysis ) , but with catalyst 8.8 beta = 6/7 fps increase

my friend also bought a 4870X2 3 days ago , and with 8.8 beta have same results !

    whats your motherboard??

do you have windows Vista 64bit Ultimate service pack 1???

The TweakTown test is bad: Q6600 @ 3 Ghz, Vista with only 2 GB PC6400 RAM, and then Catalyst 8.7 that doesn't even support 4870X2.

Mascara's Crysis numbers are also a tad higher than should because he did the gpu bench instead of the (true game reflecting) time demo bench like Assault_Harbor
