Could be the BIOS version. The most accurate means of measurement is to reference the same ground plane as the circuit being measured. This at times can prove difficult though. So pick a spot on the board to use as a ground reference for all voltage measurements. Form this point make voltage measurements at other ground points on the board to insure a reading of zero volts. It's best not to use a power supply point as ground.
