I've pencil modded my old DFI lanparty, asus p5k vanilla, and gigabyte ds3l. Nothing's blown up, lol.
With my p5k vanilla I've been very pleased with the mod - a rock solid 1.32 nonfluctuating vcore idle thru load ( alittle less than set in bios).
With my ds3l the mod's been less that perfect but did help a little.
If you don't like it just unplug and clean it off with alcohol.
