New DFI feature "ABS" (Auto Boost System)

From last computex taipei 2008 we hear from DFI will have new function it's new Overclock technology under "ABS" name, So today come to see how it working

Not bad, should compliment their CMOS Reloaded feature just nice. Too bad this wasn't on my current UT P35-T2R. Actually, it doesn't seem to be for any of the UT/LT boards, but only their lower ended DK and BI boards?

Well Zolkorn looks like the F1 = help key worked just fine on helping also DFI, no more clearing the CMOS.

This and the double bios supported by DFI are great features on supporting overclockers worldwide.

it shouldent void anything but the cpu its just a ram epp and cpu bsel, it would be nice to see this from inside windows so u can share your settings and ram tweaks

What is this? Is it like CMOS reloaded but with a fancy interface and downloadable profiles? I guess the profiles are a good idea. But as all DFI users know, as far as settings go, one man's treasure is another man's trash. They will certainly be for mild overclocks and with limited RAM timing configurations. Man, even between difference CPU's of the same model there are consistently different (often highly different) needs on the same system. Maybe I'm missing something due to my not studying the images enough to properly translate them to English or the images simply don't reveal too much.

to like a dfi board u have to know what u are doing, and be smarter than the board

they do exactly what u tell them and wont fix it if u put in a stupid value so they can over or under volt and require u to set your ram timings for good scores but they are forgiving on auto and have a straight forward bios. so if u know what u are doing then they are great and the best that u can get but if u dont know what to do then stay with stuff like asus

it only looks like it dose 400mhz fsb and most chips are the same to that point and the ram is following epp, its for getting started and to make profiles and boot them without going in the bios, so u could have a green profile with low wattage and a high performance and just hit a key at post and pick one

Is it really that hard to translate things to English correctly... I understand that there will be errors sometimes in translations but all of DFIs English has like a million errors and it reflects poorly on them.

They don't use English as their primary language. I may be difficult if they don't hire a marketing specialist who's really good in english.

DFI were untouchable in the days of NForce4. Now, they are generally late to market with any given platform and their product is not just complicated, but often riddled with bizarre quirks that only the most patient can tolerate.

Personally, I will not buy another DFI board after the 680i fiasco.

Putting a feature such as ABS on a DFI board would seem to fly in the face of their core value proposition as the ultimate tweaker's board. They have a long way to go before they would be something I would recommend to the casual overclocker... ABS or not.

As for the poor English... that's just laziness... they have a marketing office in San Jose.

well most of us can beat easily the 49% OC or whatever this auto oc does but I think this is to make DFI more appealing to the general user who doesn't want to get overwhelmed by their BIOS options, considering DFI has a ton.

OCZ will fully embrace all these new feartures DFI are adding as it will massively help with support issues. Our techs will able able to program bios for end users from windows just by loading a file, so if an end user is pushing a cpu to hard and blaming the ram, upon loading our files if the system checks out OK it should prove to the end user they need to look else where for the cause of their issue.

Overall DFI are building an awesome way for those who buy and never overclock to get that little extra from their systems, knowing that if they down load a pretested file it should be good to go from the reboot.

How is different from preset OC Profiles, Tony? This is far from being the first auto-overclocking tool on the market.

Its different in that i can create a profile for say E8500 CPU and 8000 Reaper X. This profile can include all voltages, all ram settings, all FSB and dram ratio's, all skew options. I can also tell the system i want to to boot from the CDrom if needed.

So yes the fixed OC profiles are nothing new, but the ability for me to control your DFI motherboard is new.

I plan on having a repository of profiles which are safe and offer good value with given hardware. Plus end users having issues with ram who say...

" I set XXX fsb and XX ram ratio and the memory errors like mad" will be given an option of allowing OCZ to produce a specific profile for them to test with. If the system is stable after this they need to look at the other aspects of their system to find the fault.

The sharing part is new, the fixed profiles are not that new. What excites me is the ability to program the whole CMOS section of bios for overclocking, no more try this try that and you get an answer that is "where do i find the NB voltage option?" etc, I can do it for them.

Dangerous territory m8 Why should OCZ offer customers guaranteed overclocks for MORE than just their ram?

What you are talking about is doing the work for them, and for the whole system at that. Admittedly, this will greatly increase the value of OCZ customer loyalty, but that doesn't make it any more feasible for OCZ employees in the long run to be running around making specific profiles for each customer who is able to receive this service, as I understand it, numerous amounts of time as he keeps the same ram throughout his/her upgrade path.
