I'm going to quote myself , just to get the introduction

4GHz is a no go for daily use ... with a Q6600, to much voltage needed... even breaking down the CPU temps, I think it's too much Voltage to the components and it's not worthwhile.

I’m going for 3.6GHz … it’s almost out of the box and enough... to handle my future 4870 Crossfire.

Yea what volts you need for 4ghz? my Q6600 needs 1.51 then he is 3d stable !
def not something u want 24/7 and to be honest overclocking a CPU for 24/7 is not that important for games, id rather oc the gpu ! but always nice to have a 4ghz Wolfie there for 1.3v.

Im getting my p5q Delux monday.. Yay. i will solder VTT, PLL, and watever we CANT see. then il show picks of the voltages put in bios, and recieved in real. cause i dont like clocking Blindly, i know my rampage overvolted like a demon on PLL. so ya

I am having 3dmark cpu score problems I'm only scoring about 5200-5300 with my Q6600 at 3.7ghz. I should be getting 300-500 pts more than that... I tried dropping my multi and upping the FSB from 412x9 to 463x8 but I only get like 10-20pts more :/ I have 4x1gb ocz at 1100mhz 5,5,5,15 PL 9 and running bios 803 beta

Anyone have any ideas? normally I wouldn't be so picky but I am only a few hundred pts away from taking the 1st single card score on another forum and it's my CPU score that's holding me back.

Anyone find any differences with 0803?

In haven't, tho my system has been folding for 24 hours using the same settings as I did for 0702, 0704 & 0706, so it must be stable enough.

Your score seems allright to me, what is hurting your cpu scores in 3dmark06 is your OS, If you run on XP you will have the extra 300-500 points

Ok I think I understand the second grouping now; however, can't my 4gb dominators take 1066 @ 5-5-5-15 timings with a 2.1dimmv? If I had it at 450FSB wouldn't they only be at 900mhz? Also I noticed you thought to loosen the timing to 5-5-5-18, why is this? Also what is the DRAM frequency and PCI-E frequency?

I heard all this talk about a 1:1 ratio, but doesn't it get forced somehow or am I completely lost? I don't want to push my system really hard, but I do want to try to get more performance--hell I don't even know how to clear the CMOS.

More importantly I tried to do Asus instALL for the mobo drivers and now whenever I boot up it's looking for an ICHR10 (sp) boot disk and I have no floopy, I'm completely lost here as I've never used a floppy in BIOS except for RAID 4 years ago. How to I make it stop??

    Thanks for the help

    FSB Frequency: 450
PCI-E Frequency: 101 (PCI frequency for your vidcard)
DRAM Frequency: 1081 -->Frequency of your ram with 450FSB you either get 900Mhz ( so 1;1) or 1081Mhz (more is avalaible but prolly ya ram doesn't support more)
I choose to use 1081 as you run a so called divider and can run a better performance level...
I put 5-5-5-18 as your ram is foreseen to run 5-5-5-15 with 1080mhz you have a small OC on the ram... I just want it to post, tweaking is for later on

But first try my settings with CPU multi at 8X plz see if it's stable

    0901 soon lads

Ok CPU-Z keeps changing from an x8 multi to x6 (3.6 to 2.7Ghz) and stays at 2.7 for the most part.

Also what program should I get to monitor temps

EDIT: I got core temp and I'm at 45 idle and 55C with Prime95 going now. How long should I run it to prove it's stable?
EDIT: Temps up to 60C!, this loose 120eX and weak fan are killing me

It is The C1E setting causing the throttling. A power saving feature on the ASUS boards. Reduces multiplier at low CPU load.

    Change C1E Support to Disabled

Where is that setting? Also I set it to 8.5 and got to 3.825Ghz at 45C (same as before!) w00t. Only a 1.35vcore too

EDIT: With proof, going to run prime for 15 or so now. I think this is going to be my primary setting, but I'll try for a 9x for games once I get some better fan control

Yeah just unzip the .rom to the flash drive. You have to switch your computer off and back on again before going into the BIOS or else it won't see the flash drive.

Is there any Vmods for Deluxe already?

I'll get my board tomorrow. Hope it can do over 640FSB to beat my P35-DS4

I tried this 0901 : overall a small READ and LATENCY improvement , though COPY goes down as noticed already in 803... Only at 500FSB I get about the same results or very close ones to the older biosses...

I'm awaiting pmp official release, this bios seems still a bit buggy... maybe one of the reasons pmp didn't release it at the same time as the P5Q-E bios... I'm flashing back to older version as the BSOD annoyed me BIG TIME plus the lockup in the bios... bummer

I need a bit more NB voltage to get this version stable,... PL levels stay the same to me (this is a quick test so almost all auto besides FSB/RAM speed, PL level manual tested till no post, Vcore 1.35 and NB 1.26 for all runs)

Comparative results on the left 0901 , on the right 0704

    400FSB - 800 Mhz ram : PL 9

    400FSB - 1002 Mhz ram : PL 7

    400FSB - 1066Mhz ram : PL 7

    450FSB - 900Mhz ram : PL 10

    450FSB - 1081Mhz ram : PL8

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree
