MotF Bane, the NIC driver hangs during installation or the system hangs/freezes? it sounds like your board is either damaged or your running highly unstable speeds/settings.

Still default settings. If there's any damage, it's not visible, and I was wired for static. It worked when I switched to XP instead of Vista, and the board seems good so far. You've reminded me though... there was a thread somewhere on XS about Vista wanting more voltage in either NB or SB, I'll have to try that. Thanks.

more of everything, some people say they need more vcore, some need more vdimm, some need more gpu volts...

so was the board not stable at all with vista?
or was it only the nic driver that didnt work with vista?
did you use vista 32 or 64 bit?
how much memory did you use?
there is some memory bug with more than 2gb of memory in vista 64.

there is some memory bug with more than 2gb of memory in vista 64.

there is a bug during vista 64 installation that can show its ugly side by preventing installation with 4GB or more ram, install with one stick, patch vista and then put ram back in.
