As far as my system goes I did a 6 hour stretch on WoW the other night without any issues what so ever. Vista64, 4gb OCZ, 177.39, 15.17.

I do know that before I got SLI working I would crash out no matter what game I was playing (worst I had was 5 seconds into the game, I hadn't even had time to do anything before the screen froze up).

I must admit to being tempted with the 280's but having just bought the 9800's my wife would kill me if I spent more money (well I won't be telling her about the watercooling project I am working out in my head :p)
Hey there! Nice to see you over here!

I had Northbridge volts higher at one point. But you're right, I don't think I've tried them since I started the methodical means of isolating the problem. At the time I had my NB and SB voltages tweaked, I was doing other things that might have contributed to problems.

I just swapped my cards around to validate my other card as being stable/solid with SLi disabled. I'll try those voltages (again) once I put 6-8 hours of crash-free gaming behind me with the cards swapped.

So strange. I just swapped the cards, moved the one that was in the bottom slot to the top and vice versa and now it works great.
Guess that one card just wanted to be on top.

Will post some results after I get everything tuned.

Did my first vantage run on stock clocks, have not tried to oc yet, and also still only 4GB of RAM in the board, will add the other sticks for 8GB total next.

After installing my GTX280 tri-sli setup, my SB temps reached +80`c in idle
So I decided to swap the original rollercoaster for a Evercool SB fan, Thermalright Mosfett coolers and EK NB-block.
Temps went down to 40`c for SB and 25 `c for NB in idle
Stupid new cards block all the airflow to the SB, with my watercooled 8800gtx tri-sli setup there was no problem at all (altough it hit 75`c under load, so replacing the rollercoaster ain't bad at all)
Maybe now with some little more voltage i might be able to break the 500FSB

Well 0804 seems ok and stable for me,

    1769 x 9.5 linked @ synced.

But reset to 1333 x 9.5 (E8500) for a couple of days and everything was peachy until this morning. System files corrupt on XP load.

File corruption is still an issue even at stock settings.

    I cant believe this

With 0804 I just watched The Hills Have Eyes 2 with no freeze from beginning to end. I think this time 0804 finally fixed SLI issues with videos so far, will keep testing tomorrow. I will also burn videos to dvd-videos to see if the process gives me any error (it does with any other BIOS if SLI is enabled).

Even though Im not yet stable, Im really happy with this BIOS so far. SLI is my main concern for now. Im still trying to find my spot with this BIOS and it looks like it will take me some time...

Can anyone tell me if the latest 0804 bios has helped out with o/cing. I seem to be having no corruption on 0801 but i cannot get my RAM to clock further than 1600. Im running OCZ platinum 14400 but it seems like the mobo doesnt like it too much.

Try loosening latencies. Also increase the voltage a little. Remember to use memtest86 2.01 to test RAM before going into Windows.

I just finished building my first comp (Details in SIG), and tried to boot it up for the first time, when I did the power quickly went on for a sec, then went back off, mobo stayed on. I realized I forgot to plug in the LCD Temperature controller, which the fans were plugged into. I fixed that, then when I turned it back on, I kept getting CPU INIT, followed by CODE INIT, though all the fans were running. Therefore, I could not get anything on my monitor, and I could not get to the BIOS. For reference, my frontboard IEEE port is not plugged in, and neither are the audio ports on front, because the IEEE cord cannot reach the IEEE port because of the GTX280, and my audio card has no front loading audio ports that I see.

    Any suggestions?

Hey slim, i have tried loosening them but wont pass memtest at 1800, too many errors. Regardless the RAM is rated for 8-8-8-24 at 1.9V, and i just cant seem to get there.

Could it be my RAM? Maybe trying a different brand might get me further?

Try clearing the CMOS. If not, then remove the battery for 30 mins and then try booting. If it doesnt work, try booting with 1 stick of RAM, if that doesnt work, put it in the last RAM slot.

    Hope that helps

Try lowering the RAM to 1600Mhz and put 1.38v for the NB and see if that helps.

If still getting errors, then test each stick of ram by itself, you might have a defective stick.

Ive had it working at 1600 with 8-8-8-24 timings ive even had it to 1670, but that is my limit without errors. Im pretty confident the RAM is fine. I have just read somewhere that i should try the white slots. I will try and see how that goes. But it wont help me when i try to run another 2 GB Ram in those slots which i intend to do.

Try SB 1.55-1.60v and NB 1.50-1.60v
Those are sweet spots for most, altough my NB likes 1.7v for higher FSB/Memspeed
    And watch that temperatures !!
And you should use windows memory tester instead of crappy memtest, wich doesnt like 790i.

Yep it worked heaps better in the white slots. ive got it to 1800 8-8-8-24 1T and it passed memtest. NB at 1.5V and SB at 1.55V as well as RAM at 1.94V. As for monitoring temperatures, im using everest 1383 beta and just trying to figure out if MCP temp is NB or if it is SPP.

Thanks heaps for the advice by the way guys.

Having some freezing issues when SLI is enabled.

    Crysis works great with SLI.

WoW and LOTRO will freeze and require a restart. Only solution I have found is to disable SLI then they work great.

Hopefully a fix for this will be coming soon because it seems many have this problem.

Rascas mcp is the southbridge chip.

just thought id post some results of what i managed to accomplish with this board, finally got the rest of my parts and was able to complete my project. Using 2x1gb supertalent projectx 2000mhz, evga 9800 GX2 and a Q9450. its not stable yet as it takes to many volts to get it to boot into windows but with some tweaking might be possible to stabilize it.

    I am using 177.41

Also have been getting a BSOD from Vista quite frequently.

I left most BIOS settings on auto and have not tried to overlock yet, mainly because I want to get it stable at stock settings first.

I am going to now set manually NB and SB voltage to 1.5V+ because some people are saying this improves stability.

    Anything else I can do??

Glad to see another LotRO player here. Let's work on this together! =)

Like you, I was getting freezes with LotRO in SLi. Usually after an hour of play or so. . . often just during or after a zone/instance transition.

I validated both my cards by running with SLi disabled. My first card passed four or five sessions (2-4 hours each) without any issues. Then I swapped slots. Second card also did not freeze, though, after a couple marathon sessions of 4-5 hours each, I got "soft crash" where the LotRO client crashed to desktop and requested to send an error report citing the module "granny2.dll" as the cause.

I'm on the same BIOS and forceware as you. GTX280s on 177.41. X-fi Platinum PCI-E. I just turned up my NB vcore to 1.46v and SB at 1.5v but haven't had a chance to try SLi for more than an hour or so. I'm currently re-installing my OS because the "granny2.dll" points to possible corruption of some files. But I doubt that's actually the cause.

Let's get SLi working with LotRO together! Please keep us posted regarding what you're trying and your progress!

Hey guys, got my SIIE installed today, and just done some preliminary testing with SLI GTX 280's.

So far, no video freezing (only tried 3 or 4 vids, but so far so good) and i havnt been using it long enough to confirm the corruption issue. Using 0701 bios. Got this board 2nd hand from a guy I know who know's his stuff. He had tried various different sets of mem/CPU's etc and had no probs, but not tested with SLI.

Anyhow, the one problem I do have is popping and cracking with my X-fi. Ive been browsing this thread a while, and I remember a couple of you posted some fixes, but ive just had a quick look and cant seem to find the page with them all on. Anyone post some tips to solve it?
