    Best cooling for ATI HD4850

    topic says it all....

Whats the best (or bang for buck, for that matter) cooling solution for a HD4850?

Some prices and links to reviews or product info would be great

    1.Replace the tim.
    2. Unplug the fan and plug it into a fan controller using a 3pin extension cable.

That's for the most part free if you have extra stuff lying around, got me to the low 50's on idle.
And the second option doesn't even void a warranty.

The TR Hr-03 GT as mentioned above would a be a complete replacement that does great. Not exactly cheap though...

Is it possible that X1900 coolers could fit as well...?

Arctic Cooling S1 is a fantastic and cheap option. Couple it with some nice 120mm fans and you are set.

Arctic cooling s1 + 120mm fan for sure......definitely best bang for buck.

The new RBE v1.11 is out though which allows you to change the automatic fan control. Unless you are vmodding or have to have a silent puter I see no need to replace the stock hsf assembly.

From the posts here and reviews I've seen, Arctic Cooling S1 for $31(lowest price with shipping I've seen) is the best deal.

    wow....so many suggestions
    any links?

I would like a silentish puter :P plus the whole 50-70 degree Idle and 80-100 degree load thing on the HD4850 sounds kinda scary O_O
I'm buying 2 in a couple of weeks and just want to make sure they gona be running cool, need them to last nice and long :P

I've had a HIS ATI 9550 up till now and its OCd.... been running like that for the last 7 years, no crashes, no artifacts, and that card at load only hit around 75 degrees

I'm not sure how many of those coolers I can get in South Africa O_O gota do some research I guess

Tru....i didnt say air cooled only.

but for me Air cooled will be the best option, its a little cheaper and I move my PC atleast 3 times a month so not REALLY wanting to deal with finicky watercooling solutions

BUT.....this is a community forum so, state what you want as a cooling solution (without running away with the thread) even if it hapens to be your fridge :P

Only thing holds me back form putting water on it is if next Cat will fix the fan issue then I invested hours of work for almost nothing (fan @50% - when it's idling @43C - is inaudible for me.)

The Accelero S1 is definitely amazing.I used to have one on a OC'ed 3870. It idled around 38 degrees. At full load it was around 44 degrees.

Too bad, trying to minimize the number of slots I lose, and adding any fan, including the AC turbo fans means the card becomes a 3 slot solution.

I've got the Coolink GFXChilla coming, but I also have a second 4850, so if I end up going CF, I'm gonna need another cooler; I may have to stick with the GFXChilla's.

It definitely was a three-slotter. It was extremely annoying
