Coming from someone who has owned a D40x (same as the D40 but its 10.2mp) and currently owns a D80 and D300 I would recommend the D80 for you. It would help to know more about your photo/camera background so I can help you make the best choice. For example: have you owned a SLR before? Do you know what it takes to take a “good” picture? Is this a passion or hobby for you? How many pictures do you plan to take with said camera?

I still have a few questions:
    • Does anyone have images of the thermal distribution on the bottom of a DDC pump?

    • How does one achieve a flattened area around a port on a circular reservoir? (Like the Ek Reservoirs)

    • Some of my koolance fittings have begun to chip; exposing the brass, is this cause for concern? Photos of this are on my flickr..

    • What are the two holes positioned closer to the center on the bottom of a DDC for?

    • Does Bitspowers G1/4 Thread 1/2" ID x 5/8" OD Compression Fittings fit on a D-TEK FuZion v2 or are they too wide?

    1. i would assume that its evenly distributed on the bottom around the center, the stator is perfectly center, and the impeller is dead center as well.

    2. im not quite sure what your asking here, but im assuming your talking about the flat parts on the multiport bottom on an ek. all they do is mill it
with a square end mill i suppose

    3. shouldnt be an issue, but thats some thin plating

    4. im assuming those are breathing holes, they go all the way through and arent sealed or blocked by anything

    5. probably not, koolance 3/8"ID compressions barely fit

Thanks evil! Lucky too, I was just about to order a Fuzion that night! Anyways, I’ve been doing some work fixing my 9800GX2 and making a label for every cable corresponding to where it will go so I can check lengths and whatnot…ha ha LABELS KEEP ME SANE ha ha…. Ill try to post some more assembled system updates soon. Pictures can be difficult when I have no room for proper lighting or even a background but ill see what I can do!

    Wow, excellent stuff here.

FYI, EK has just released a new SB block for all thick GPU cards, so you may wanna watercool that as well. Check this out:

I couldn’t take it anymore so I designed my own Southbridge water block using an EK base and the new 780i Southbridge as a reference. I did however add a few of my own touches; one of which I’m particularly fond of its compatibility with Bitspowers compression fittings.

Please note: The base is only for reference so I didn’t work on details.

It sure looks pretty! Is it functional or do you still need to mill the block?

That is a good question. If I'm seeing correctly there is one mount screw. Will that be enough to have a good contact with the chip?

You know I was skeptical too at first, but once I got it mounted with a spring between the acrylic and the motherboard and the 9800GX2 mounted I can tell it’s secure. The block sits perfectly flush and there is no clearance between the top of the block and the 9800GX2.

The block is completely finished; I’m reusing the base I already had. Ill post more views soon……after some sleep……..maybe….

Sorry for making you wait for what is ultimately an uninspiring update but I’ve been so busy I haven’t even had time to turn on my TV! My absence has been largely due to the fact that I will no longer be double majoring in Animation and Visual effect as well as Industrial Design because my counselor thought the workload might be a bit much. It is because I will no longer be majoring in Industrial design and being a perfectionist trying to get by with a crappy workshop I’m going to settle and build my own damn CNC. It won’t be very large only 4x3 along its X and Y axis.

    Other updates include selling my:
    • Intel Q6600
    • EVGA 780I
    • EVGA 8800GTX
    • Black Ice 240 Radiator
    • Other Miscellaneous water cooling gear

    Current replacements:
    • Feser X-Changer Dual 120mm Xtreme Performance Radiator
    • Koolance shroud and riser with more red leds and cathodes to match

    Planned replacements:
    • Intel QX6850
    • SUPER TALENT Project X 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1800
    • Foxconn Dreadnought
    • or
    • ASUS Rampage Extreme (Top choice so far)
    • or
    • EVGA 790i FTW

I am closing in on the final stages of building my CNC and then I will be finishing my computer. I will try to continue to provide updates periodically.

Just a thought: what would my modded 9800GX2 sell for? (I’m considering replacing it with a QuadroFX or FireGL)

Oh yea: I'm also building a MICRO-ATX computer to run the CNC......

Lol yea it would; especially if I could make a Northbridge block to replace that annoying little red one. I am concerned about the ESA board in my case and its compatibility with the Rampage Extreme……. There’s also the matter of finding one in the US in the next week or so.

    Quick Update!!!

    QUICK UPDATE!!!

    Already ordered:
Intel Core 2 Extreme Processor QX6850
Feser X-Changer Dual 120mm Xtreme Performance Radiator
Koolance shroud and riser with two red cathodes to glow out the vents
    Swiftech Apogee GTZ

    Still to order:
    EVGA 790i FTW
Bitspower 790i Northbridge and Southbridge waterblock

    BEFORE I FORGET!!!!
A friend of mine bumped in to some guy who works for MNPC TECH……come to think of it, it might have been the owner/manager. Anyways, this friend of mine ended up telling him about my water block design and the guy said it was exactly what they were looking for! The conversation went on about production and whatnot and he even said he knew of a place I could get the parts made in state and that he would send this friend of mine some info. So I’m psyched….but running out of time.

    Nice work

Nice work, should be a very nice rig when you finish. Your project is quite similar to my own with less customization on my part. Here is a link to some picts if you are interested. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...7&postcount=32
