My board should be waiting for me at my place this Monday, but I won't be back there before Friday...so...it'll have to wait a bit.
But yeah, I'm going to push it from day 1 ( as always )

Don't jump into conclusions that easy Infa.
From my initial P45 tests it looks like the P45 has tighter timings, and the performance given at each P.L. is equal to P35s/X48s at a single P.L. lower.
    For example 400MHz FSB 333MHz Strap P.L. 7 on P45 equals 400MHz FSB 266MHz Strap P.L. 6 on P35/X48.

    565MHz isn't close to 600MHz at all when it comes to benchmarking... 565MHz FSB = 5367MHz @ 9.5x ... 600MHz FSB = 5700MHz... even 600MHz FSB to 610MHz makes a "big" difference

Before I play with those P45 mobos more and get to squeeze every single MHz and performance/tweak out of them, I'll say if they're worth it or not ( over P35/X48 ).

Thank You...you couldn't have said it better...and personally, I think the default PL settings for P45 right now is a BIOS issue which will probably get sorted out with future revisions.

The Express Gate operating system looks awesome. Before you know it, you'll be able to skip windows and then bench your CPU.

The OS takes about 10 seconds to load and this version offers internet browsing, Skype calls, Pidgin messaging client and a new photo application, which supports USB drives as well as the systems hard drives.
One day I'd like to see gamers bipass windows and run their games straight from Bios instead of wasting resources on so many lame windows services, like the old days using DOS. I mean common, your average user isn't going to tweak their PC. This would actually help the common person run their games better for many years, less tweaking done in windows. As long as the gaming specs don't get out of control. If thats the future, we might finally have systems that last more than 5 years for gaming, besides buying these damn g-cards.

My board is at my place only problem is...I'm not at my place at the moment
You said that you tried a "previously used" Windows install as well. Did you try booting at Safe Mode with that installation ?
I assume that we're talking about a Intel P/X series install right ? The nFORCE install ( you had a nF790i board lately if I recall correctly, right ? ) won't work with any P/X intel chipset board.

Have you tried setting the memory timings/subtimings & chipset timings & voltages manually ?

No, it wont even boot to go into windows setup so i can do a clean install, ive tried several manual settings for the memory with no luck, more voltage with no luck, let me know if you have any update BenchZowner, appreciate the help.

not sure if this input helps so take it with a grain of salt

my P5Q with PC8500 reaper DDR2 didn't like this board and did similar things

Iam waiting on some different ram to come in.

might try and up the NB volts to 1.3-1.4v and put PLL to 1.6 to 1.7v

also try with one stick at first

I've got a 4GB OCZ Platinum 1600mhz 7-7-7 1.9V kit sitting here with exactly the same problems.
They're brand new so I'm unsure if they're working correctly or if it's the board/me as I don't have another system to test them in.
I tried playing with the DRAM clock skews and managed to boot into windows (installed with a 2gb kit of ballistix) but when put under any load, the system just locks.

If you figure anything out, can let me know too please?
otherwise I think I'm just going to try and return them

[edit] OT: has anyone tried spdtool on this board?

    @Pyr0:

SPDtool won't "work properly" before W1zzard updates it with the new "chipset info".
If you're going to flash your RAMs SPDs, I suggest you to do it on another board ( non P45 ).

For the memory, it might be a RAM compatibility issue.
Did you guys try running memtest86+ v2.01 ?

I cannot run my crucial ballistix at ddr3-1600 cl7 on P5Q3 Deluxe board, they won't boot at ddr3-1600, can only run them at DDR3-1333. The memory runs perfectly stable at ddr3-1600 7-7-7-1T 1.74v on P5E64 EVO board.

So far I'm very disappointed in P5Q3 Deluxe. Board will not boot if my dvd-rw drive's connected to the IDE port with express gate on. I sent the board back.

IMO, P5E64 EVO is the best board at present time, although it's a X48 board. I can run my ballistix 4x1GB at 800MHz 7-7-7-1T PL6 with only 1.76v vdimm, 1.29v vNB, 2x1GB at 900MHz 7-7-7-1T PL6 with 1.35v vNB. Far better than this POS P5Q3 Dlx.

Did you try memtest v2.01? Most likely your memory isn't stable on that board.

    lo m8
I figured as much, but wondered if it might have been an os/driver prob with it mentioning the SMBus driver (in xp64 atm, prime95'ing)

Yup, the memory fails almost instantly unless I play with the skews and then I let it run a couple of passes before getting bored
That was how I managed to even get them to boot into windows, but I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing.

I definitely think things could improve with some bios releases, but I definitely feel that the P5K3 was an easier board to work with, even the initial bios was really stable

Seems dfi x48 t3r has some bios issue. Won't work with certain rams at cl7. Strongly suggest P5E64 EVO.

    So

Im testing 1600EB 4GB kit, had this ram well over 1800MHZ on P5E3 Premium.

1600 no way, 1500 no way, 1400 ish, 1333 jeez is it fast

This board is sooooo tight and must be at 1N by default it just hates 128IC's x16, to much load me thinks.

I will contat Asus and see what I can do with bios, for now try to keep the 4GB kits around 1333 6-6-6-(18>22 for TRAS) and test tRD at 6 or 7 tRFC can be 48 clocks.

This board is really fast with the ram like this, probably faster than 7-7-7-24 2T 1600 so do not think you are giving performance away as you are not.

    more soon

you just needed to alter the skew settings, I have had awesome results with the P5Q deluxe all the way to 1200mhz with flex II 1150, its not plug and play though...you have
    to get tweaking skews etc
