Very nice results men. Any skews or other refined setting changed ?

Skew advanced on the ram 50, TRFC from 46 to 55 at the moment but not enough to do 32MB stable at 600FSB/1200... with Skew delay I get a BSOD before entering winblows... Hope to make 600/1200 but this will take time...

Lee have you tried the 0704 bios?
OMG is the 0506 BIOS ever crappy... A nice safe 400FSB and it goes into recovery mode...

any suggestions on a nice Raid 0 card???
Since Iam only using one GPU ATM and thinking of doing a RAID 0 on two Velociraptors what has worked with this mobo for a fast raid card??

I'm very interested in the P5Q Deluxe, I've spent a few hours trying to find out whether this board supports the Xeon E3110 cpu.
Anyone have any information on the support for E3110.
Thanks
zuess
It certainly will support it.

hey guys, just ordered a p5q pro, had a few questions on stability checking: any specific settings for memtest? and after testing in memtest which prime test should I run? large ffts since memtest has tested the ram?
Nope mate still on 0702... Seems Pmp pulled 0704 from his FTP so not worth for me to try... will mess tonite some more with the Skew settings to try to get 600/1200 done...
That's weird did you flash wiht EZ flash ? prolly better reflash and pop the battery to have a complete Cmos reset... you sure the Dimms are fine ? Plz list all ya hardware here...

Thx mein Deutschen freundChrisch you on 600/1200 stable yet mate ? (his previous Strony aster link wasn't giving 0704 anymore, only 0702)

no, not stable
i wait for other mem (ballistix pc2-8500 / d9gmh).
I tried same settings, but doesn't work on my board even with 1.6 vNB.
I don't know what to do yet.I think that's memory fault,because cpu seem to be stable(Orthos FFT's prio 9,wprime 565Mhz),but spi 16/32m as I said only 545Mhz x6
Will try later with other memory's and other settings.
What about GTL settings, did you change GTL(NB,CPU) or left auto?
Cob, you were right. It's SpeedStep that was causing the lower Multi. As soon as I hit the 'Encode' button on TMPGEnc Xpress, Multi jumped to 8x and PC was running at 2667Mhz.
During the encode last night, when CPU Utilization was fluctuating around 90%+, CPU temperature hovered around 49. That's not bad, right? That's around full load.
A bit off this thread - I put in a little review of Q9450/P5Q at Stock from my operations last night, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. If anyone's interested, you can read up here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=638 (Especially video encoders).

That is too bad that you were so disappointed , I have found my X3360 ( Q9550 ) to hands down beat my Q6600 in any given benchmark clock for clock . The only other change there is that the new cpu runs as fast 24/7 as the Q6600 would for benches only giving it even more of an edge .
Well clock for clock the Q9450 is only about 10% faster than the Q6600. But it comes into its own in software with SSE4.

I guess, thing is - the PC is definately, no-contest, running a LOT faster & smoother then it ever did. In fact I was blown away with the Start Up, especially with the ton of 'Start Up' applications that load in the system tray - that used to take forever - now it was like all within 30 - 50 seconds, which is tremendous.
And like I said, while Unraring a huge 8 GiG file, I'd have to wait before even hitting the Start button cause it would at times, inadvertently hang! So all those things are real pretty now.
But what I really upgraded for was Video Encoding, Editing and such audio/video related jobs. (I do website design/development as well, thus Adobe CS3 will come into picture - but I didn't really test it out yet. Judging by how fast Applications were opening & closing, I'm assuming it'll be blitz!). And at stock speeds I really wasn't thrilled.
I'm not sure if you compared at Stock, and not sure if you did any video encoding jobs, so that could be the difference. I saw a lot of review at Newegg by Video Encoders who were satisfied - but again, they didn't go into details - and there's a huge difference encoding a mid-res xvid to divx or dvd and encoding an HD h.264 to WMV-HD (VC-1) or Blu-ray Remux.
I'm not disheartened yet. OC'ing is on it's way. With my E6420/P5W/2GB PC2-5400, I hit a wall very early on around 350-360FSB, getting up to 2.8Ghz only. I'm expecting better results with PC2-8000/P5Q (P45) & Q9450.
Honestly, SSE4 was the primary reason I spent 75% more on Q9450 (over Q6600). From whatever I had read, SSE4 was supposed to bring this drastic difference in Video Encoding. Both software I use primarily for Video Encoding/Editing (TMPGEnc Xpress Mar.08 release, MS Expression Encoder) have full SSE4 Support - and some others that don't (Vegas Pro, ProCoder) are set for new releases shortly with SSE4 support. You're right about clock-for-clock, that's what most people say. But I put my money on SSE4.Originally Posted by Cob

Remember also that your hard drive is the slowest part of your system, and will stiffle some of the gains when working with large files. Going to RAID0 may give a bigger boost than SSE4.
Have you run the WinRAR benchmark on both chips to see the differences between the 2 chips?

How do you setup RAID0? Do you need two hard drives for that? Can you point me in the right direction to reading a bit more about this - something for a somewhat n00b. I've never experimented with RAID0 before.
That's a mistake I did make. I should have saved benchmarks from my previous chip. I don't have any actual numbers from my system to do an actual comparison. I'm just going off my physical memory/experience.
