    Droperidolum.

im in South Africa. i dont even know if you know where that is

all RF's have the .5v step after 1.6.

Id say its because if you ever going to go that high on volts youd be under dice or LN2, wich in that case it doesnt matter if the gaps are .5v. I understand what you mean though it pisses me off aswel. but what i did was a vdroop pencil mod. Then if it were set to 1.6 in bios output 1.57 and 1.65 in bios the output would be 1.63. Guess we just have to live with it :/ , i do hope a bios fix for this comes out. Im stil at stock bios 219

ANYONE know wich bios is best for High fsb? say 600Fsb?

I recommend everyone including System Stability Tester 64-bit in their test toolkit. it helped me to reveal that 1,35 vNB wasn't enough for Q9450 to work at 440*8 (almost immediate BSODs with various stop-errors), while all other test programs were stable (including monstrous Intel Linpack 64-bit). I had to increase vNB to 1,39v and now everything is OK.

Yes, I tried OCCT, it gave no errors.
In fact, there is no single program which can assure you that your overclocked system is stable. It's always a good idea to try different programs. For me priority testing list is the following (each program I ran at least 6 hours): Linpack 64-bit (this test is real evil, stay away from it with weak cooling and high vcore, otherwise you will enjoy nice BSOD in 1 minute even if prime95 is stable for hours)

For me, the most important test is a non-test, i mean one normal day browsing surfing and playing 3d games.

To think that it may be stable i generally run occt (2h and half, it tends to crash just over 2h), wprime and orthos (blend). KLnpak is a pita to setup. I downloaded Systester and i'm adding it to the arsenal. Now I have some fans to mount yet. I'm making two posts to ask for advice.

Ok, really having a hard time pushing to 3.4ghz on my Q6600!

Can get it to 3.4ghz @ 1.46v but it BSOD's or when its in windows it isnt stable enought to run anything. Currently it is VERY stable @ 3.3ghz (1.40v)

I have been getting alot of page errors and stop errors either during or just as windows boots up. Do you think I should increase the NB volts? and or remove everything from auto and set it to its stock volts?

Worth going to 1.50v? or should I try out various NB/RAM volts? memory is still at 2.2v page errors being caused by the ram maybe?

EDIT: Also can someone recommend a good HSF, I did have a Noctua NH-U12P, but due to the layout of the HS covering the chipset I was unable to mount it! Now im using an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, but im not happy with it really. I have been eyeing Scythe's Ninja-CU Full Copper HSF and the Thermaltake BigTyp 120 VX. Anyone able to confirm they are mountable with out getting in the way of the boards heatsink etc? Suggestions would be welcome.

    OK, first question.
I see quite a few people with g.skill pc-8000 or pc-8500. I would like to see the settings for cl4 possibly @1000mhz. That's my goal, instead of 1080 cl5.

Second question, does this board suppor half multipliers for 133mhz cpu like my e3110? Using 7.5 can prove useful for my testings.

Right ended up getting a CoolerMaster GeminII heatsink and 2x Arctic Cooling Fan-120mm fans (1000rpm)

hopefully the downward air from the fans will also cool the memory and the motherboard a little. from what I have seen I reckon the hs will fit with out issue.

Still no joy with 3.4ghz! might wait untill I have the geminII turns up tomorrow.

I am running 8gigs of G.Skill DDR2 PK PC2-8500C5, would there be much difference trying to run it at cl4?

CL4 seems pretty tight. My guess is you could do it with a little bit more voltage. I haven't really tested it. For your second question, yes, this motherboard supports half multipliers.

Running tighter timings is only good for 3D01 and SuperPi. Otherwise, I don't think you'll notice hardly any difference unless you're completely anal about latency.

They are powerchips, dont like high voltages. I will stay at 2.11 (2.04 in stupid bios) for all my testings. If it cant pass, not even 4-5-5-5-12, then i have to stick with higher freequency and higher performance level as well.

I will conduct my tests with everest and 3dmark vantage. My interest is pure performance in games.
BTW yeah i'm anal about latency

I will be getting dual 4870X2 video cards in CFX, but the only problem is that the ICH9R southbridge is behind one of the PCI-E x16 slots, and with two video cards in CFX, the Thermalright HR-05 IFX that I currently have on it will not fit, nor will the HR-05 IFX SLI version.

So I want to get a low profile heatsink to use instead. I am looking at the Enzotech CNB-S1L:
    http://www.jab-tech.com/Enzotech-CNB-S1L-pr-4036.html

Does anybody know if it will fit on the ICH9R, and if it does, will it allow for a second video card, or is it still too tall?

No offense, but the SB really get that hot for you??? Other than that, that heatsink looks like it should work as long as it's a low profile.

The SB gets pretty hot for me too (I mean warm almost as the NB), it gets most of the heat from the NB and some heat from the gfx and my scsi controller. It helped a lot (5-6°C) to put a fan at the side to blow onto the mainboard.

Yeah... but it looks better than the stock heatsink! Even though the stock heatsink has a heatpipe, it's quite worthless, made of aluminum, and uses some kind of glue as the TIM.

I updated it anyway to 0403 which (starting from 0401) should improve memory compatibility.
But I have to admit that the board runs RS with the default bios already

Some memory performance weirdness. Look at these everest results:

    First, all default/auto, 800mhz

Second, all auto except: fsb 333, strap 333 (which should be already defaulted), vdimm 2.04 (2.11 real), tRFC 55 (52 isnt in bios)

wtf? Looks like the board reduced the performance level, as you would desume from the higher latency.

I want to tweak the 1066 "default" before going with some serious memory overclocking.
I'm thinking to reduce the voltage as well, cuz these powerchips are curious.
    Suggestions?

But I have to admit that the board runs RS with the default bios already
I dont recommand to update to 0403, for me was a very bad experience, only on stock speed i didnt get BSOD, any overclock for me was ended with BSOD, finally i updated to 0401 and is working perfect.

Quick question for all of you with this board, This is my 1st time posting on this forum so go easy on me .....

What I am trying to do is get my NB/SB temps a little cooler. I live in LA and this time of year it gets pretty hot. My temps before doing anything I say my NB gets up to 50-55C and SB usually no higher then 47C.
I decided to take everyones advice and remove the stock heatsink and put some better Grease on the NB and SB. In my case I used the MX-2.
I got it all back together and everything seems to have gone up a few degree's espeically the SB. Not only that but my Core temps on my CPU went up a few. Not sure if its the grease or what, previously I was using the TX-2, basically the stuff that can with my Tuniq tower.
So, should I go with After market cooling for my NB and SB?
    I was thinking the Enzotech

    http://www.enzotechnology.com/slf_1.htm for the SB

    Thermalright SLI heatsink for NB

    http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...50aHVzaWFzdA==

Lastly should I get the Aftermarket Mosfet heatsinks as well? Or can I get away with just leaving the stock heatsinks in place on the mosfets?

I really do not plan to OC this thing any higher, I am pretty happy at 3.2, I just want to be stable and not have to watch my temps like a hawk. Any advice on this would greatly be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Filthy~

The temp increase could just be from a temp increase in your room temperature? I had been getting around 50 C as well. I added two Zalman case fans and with the better air flow I hadn't seen the temps go much above 40 C.

I went even further and rigged up an old 4000 rpm fan on top of the nb and I'm sitting idle at 35 C with 1.44v to the nb. While priming blend I haven't seen it over 39 C.

So I don't know that it is really the heatsink that is the problem, but rather just an airflow problem for most.

I have my setup listed in my signature, either I am doing something wrong or it has not updated yet. I do think the ambient temp might have something to do with it. I also did the fan on the NB heatsink, I actually had to do some grinding on the corners of the fans to get it to fit nice, I got two 40mm fans on the heatsink. So with 2x 40mm fans on the heatsink and MX-2 on both chipsets I was hoping to stay in the low 40s. I guess I should do a stress test and see what the max temp it gets is.
I also have some serious air moving in this case, 2x120 mm in the bottom blowing up, 1x120 mm Fan blowing on the VC and Mob from the side with one of those anywhere pci Brakcets. Also there is 140mm fan right in front of the VC blowing over the bottom portion of the Mob. So there is alot of air moving in this thing, I am wondering if after market cooling is going to get me much better temps.
I like to play my games with everything in its full glory, there nothing worse then locking up because something got to hot, thats mainly what I am trying to avoid.
    Thanks,
    Filthy~
