I think the true winner in this mess will be the GTX260.

    2 x GTX 260s, will be smoking everything else except 2 x GTX 280

My guess is the 2 x GTX260 will beat what ATI puts out in the 2 GPU arena. Sure maybe if you 4x some stuff it'll beat 2x GTX260s but the price will probably be higher too. They need to priced $350

Well at the moment the GTX260 is stupidly overpriced, and what you said, was just stupid.

    Main Rig

    Intel Core i7-2600K (SLB8W, E0 Stepping) @ 4.6Ghz (4.6x100), Corsair H80i AIO Cooler
    MSI Z77A GD-65 Gaming (MS-7551), v25 BIOS
    Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200 Kit (HX24C11BRK2/16-OC) @ 1.5v, 11-13-13-30 Timings (1:8 Ratio)
    8GB MSI Radeon R9 390X (1080 Mhz Core, 6000 Mhz Memory)
NZXT H440 Case with NZXT Hue+ Installed
    24" Dell U2412HM (1920x1200, e-IPS panel)
    1 x 500GB Samsung 850 EVO (Boot & Install)
1 x 2Tb Hitachi 7K2000 in External Enclosure (Scratch Disk)

    Entertainment Setup

    Samsung Series 6 37" 1080p TV
Gigabyte GA-J1800N-D2H based media PC, Mini ITX Case, Blu-Ray Drive

I refuse to participate in any debate with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want.
Creationists don't mind being beaten in an argument. What matters to them is that I give them recognition by bothering to argue with them in public.

Completely agree. The card is around 10% faster than the 9800GTX and 8800GTX/Ultra and is with around x1.5 transistors. I won't tell anything about the heat .

    a single R700 blow away the 280
so how you can think that 2x260 will not be atomized by 2xR700?

CF scales much better and if the micro stuttering issue comes resolved

this time then we allready have a winner because sure 4870X2 will be faster

than GTX280... 1 TERA FLOOPS my friend

Hmm, it seems that my local forummates were not lying when they gave their impression out of this baby, against G92 single GPU derivatives, HD 4850 FTW !

EDIT: From the leaked slide pic, it's quite obvious that the launch price of HD 3870 512 MB GDDR5 would be 299 US$, how on earth a 399 US$ GTX 260 matches that value when everything points that GT200 cards are much more expensive to built ? Though i must say, with 448 MB version, GTX 260 price can be slashed perhaps to 349 US$, but i don't think it would happen anytime soon -from the experience of 8800 GTS 320 MB.

@mascaras: There is no noticable micro stuttering w/ HD4850 CF but its all relative

Good, if micro stuttering is unnoticeable this should mean that hd4850 cf is better in everything than a gt280.

People need to calm the heck down, you are too over-hyped about anything in the present.

Yesterday we had GTX280 reviews, today we have HD4850CF hype...

I bet all your hormones are just bumping hard, but don't get in kid fights saying GTX will be like this, HD4xxxCF will be like that...

We all know for ages CF works more than great @ 3dmark2006, and it is really good to see AA is working right with it, we should let the people who have the cards and the info do their jobs without any pressure.

    So, please, calm down...

    HD4850 would be around $370 and the HD4870 $430.

Compared to what, to nvidia's almost insane high prices? We see different price policy from ati and it should work better and sale more vga-s.

the HD 4850 is listed with max draw of 114W...didnt the 7900gt had around the same power draw?
im not sure which other card to compare to it when it comes to power consumption, from the "middle enthusiast segment" or whatever they call the 150$ to 300$ range...
    ---
    ---
"Generally speaking, CMOS power consumption is the result of charging and discharging gate capacitors. The charge required to fully charge the gate grows with the voltage; charge times frequency is current. Voltage times current is power. So, as you raise the voltage, the current consumption grows linearly, and the power consumption quadratically, at a fixed frequency. Once you reach the frequency limit of the chip without raising the voltage, further frequency increases are normally proportional to voltage. In other words, once you have to start raising the voltage, power consumption tends to rise with the cube of frequency."
