    $650 in the US.

price allready droped to 574€ plus this price includes 19,6% VAT.

I think well see prices between 500-550€ (incl vat) in europa.

I don`t know if anyone`s remembered, but the US dollar went down the drain a long time ago.

    575.00 EUR = 892.470 USD
    1 EUR = 1.55212 USD

However, because the cards ship from the US, transportation cost and multiple markups make the card more expensive than it should be. So the price in the US should be about $700 USD.

The last card I owned was a 7950gx2 - sorry in advance for the noob question, but I assume air cooling will likely to be enough for the 280 (base retail - not modded or overclocked)?

Yes we all know 550 euro is about $850.....

But tech products never obey just the exchange rate, Everything electronic is so much cheaper in the US

the GTX280 will be about $600 in the US so it should cost us 384 euro in Europe.... But nope, We pay 550 euro or so

I refuse to participate in any debate with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want.
Creationists don't mind being beaten in an argument. What matters to them is that I give them recognition by bothering to argue with them in public.

It's always been like that, you can't do direct EUR <-> US price comparisions. If it's $650 in US I'd expect around 550 EUR in euroland (incl VAT). If US launch prices are more like $700 I'd expect EUR prices to be around 580 ~ 600 EUR etc.

Your score is on the high side, hornet. Stock GTS's usually score 11k, and around 12k with a 3ghz quad.

However, a single GTX 280 should easily beat 17k in 3d06 at stock if there was any truth to the Vantage numbers.

    that's a big Dissapoitment that can't be true, because that's what i
used to score with Ultra, now with 9800 GTX i can do over 15k and with
    GX2 i've scored 21k...

so Dynasty i'm just praying to know that you forgot to put a few zero's after...

    ah, Assembly lines...

I dunno if it's a bunch of gx2s or 280s (fully encased heatsinks are way too similar on the back)
but there's a shot of a 280 from the same source

if you look at the card at the middle, theres this slant/slice/angle or w/e its called (same with the 9800GTX) where the fan is

    so probably the GTX280 indeed?

Would you all relax and stop calling this card a disappointment, I have the card and its the fastest thing ive ever seen, S*it, what did you expect, 5x the speed of a 9800gtx, not gonna happen, have you not learned to not look at 3dmark numbers, wow, im trying to hold myself back but reading these comments is getting on my nerves, a 2900xt beats an 8800gtx in 3dmark, does it mean its a better card? NO! this is the fastest single chip ever made period, its not going to be cheap, its not going to be low power, its not going to be little heat, its the POWER HOUSE, not the power saver.......................one word for this card FAST!!!!!!!!!!! now relax and wait for the release date.
