Hah yep, But I think the fact that they are being cheap has created the opportunity for them to be sneaky as well, so the benefit is two fold

Sure, It's working excellent for me, besides with 1004 I had the pcie 1x bug,
no problem with that in 1013 so far.

Well I have no bugs that I am aware of, everything "seems" to be ok.

Are there any performance reasons to flash to 1013? Any new options?

    Hi everybody!
I've just got a P5k-E 4 days ago. This is the first time i use a mobo of ASUS. I have some questions
First, My E8200 was stable@ 3.8Ghz with 1.375Vcore( BIOS) 1.360(CPU-Z) on mobo P35-DS3P. Now I'm using P5K-E Wifi ( bios 1013). Everything is the same, but it is not stable. The bios 1013 is good to OC huh? Do I need to change the NB Voltage? SB Voltage? CPU PLL Voltage?....etc..
    Thank you

    Try:
    1.55v NB
    1.20v SB
    1.20v FSB Term
    1.60v PLL
    Loadline Calibration enabled
    CPU Spredspectrum off
    PCIe Spredspectrum off

1013 works great for overclocking wolfdales, you should also check your
ram timings, and voltage to make shure its not that.

Also be aware that these (most) wolfdales require a small bump in vcore (.025 - .050mv) to regain initial stability after a break-in period, or after they burn-in so to speak.

I wanted to share some of my voltage measurements on my P5K-E

    Rev. 1.00G w/ bios version 0503

    All results tested @ 400FSB

    -------------------------------------------
    vmch @ 1.25v = 1.55v

    vmch @ 1.4v = 1.422v

    PLL @ 1.5v = 1.57v

    vsb @ 1.05v = 1.075v

    VTT (vFSB) @ 1.2 = 1.55v

    VTT (vFSB) @ 1.3v = 1.338v

    --------------------------------------------
It seems like my PLL voltages differ from the findings on newer revision boards, as I can set it at 1.5 and get pretty close to that even at 400FSB.

I'm a little annoyed that my board has been over volting the Northbridge and vFSB settings by so much, all the while I'm thinking they are at their lowest settings. Good find about these voltages guys!

Does anybody know what some average temps for AUXTIN; this value can be obtained by running CPUID Hardware Monitor. I am getting some really high temps and I don't know what this temperature belongs to.

AUXTIN seems to be a extra (or auxiliary) temp sensor input on the
winbond W83627DHG sensor chip that is probably not connected.

I figure this because on my mobo its locked at 122c even at full load.

Yeah, I am at 127 C, I was sure that I was not actually running at that temp, but I just wanted to see if others are getting the same results.

Question regarding running 4Gb on this board vs overclock.

    With 2Gb (2 x 1Gb) I could Orthos all day at 3.2Ghz (400 x 8) at 1.5v, but with 4Gb (2 x 2Gb) the best I can do is 3Ghz ( 333 x 9 ).

Any idea why this is and how I can fix it?

If you can post your bios settings for your 400 FSB config it would help, you gave to little info to try and help you atm.

Ok a little update before I give more info.

The 3GHz clock, 1.4v, 333x9 was Orthos priority 8 small FFT stable for 18 or so hours. But when I ran the blend test it crashed after 9 hours, so now I'm trying to get the 4Gb (2 x 2Gb sticks) stable at 1066 5-5-5-15 2T.

Bios is pretty much all an auto except memory timings as I have to set Tref to 60 manually. CPU volts is 1.425 which gives me 1.408v in Windows. I've raised the NB voltage to 1.55v and testing blend again on priority 10 (3 hours in). B ut pretty much all the other options, as I say, are on auto as I have no idea what they do lol.

    Cheers

I just tried the vdroop pencil mod and my Vcc actually decreased for some reason, I have triple checked the resistor and used a 2B pencil. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have softer pencils if that would help. I will remove the lead, after I figure out how to, for now.

Hey lads, im having random reeboots and bsods with this board...thought i had dusted an e8200 as it went unstable on me but now this e8400 is getting the same issues...i havnt been above 1.375 vcore so im sure that degredation is not an issue.... can anyone post there stable overclocks for this boarrd with a complete run down on bios settings....the chip boots at 4ghz but wont stay stable...

also im running 2 x 1gb of 1066 ballistix, any issues with this ram?

(p.s i have the 1.86v pll issue now set to 1.6)

    cheers for the help lads...

Anyone using Q9450 with this motherboard? I'm getting both this motherboard & Q9450 by tomorrow from 'egg. Wondering if anyone can share some BIOS Settings with me for basic OC'ing of Q9450 on this board. Also, will this board recognize my Q9450 out-of-box?

    Thanks!

    Hey CrazuNutz,

How's it going? I need your help.

Can you point me to a template of the full bios 1013? I need to support a friend over the phone who's OCing this board with a e8400. I can manage walking him through everything I just need to be able to see the list of available settings, how they're organized and labeled.

Our goal is 4ghz with least Vcore possible. I would like to explore 4ghz at 8x, 8.5x and 9x.

Are there CPU and NB GTL settings available in this bios and if so, what is the range? How low can they be set?

Any insight or links to good settings would be appreciated. I've read up on the mystery voltages being applied at auto or min settings - scary!

    Thanks.

You mean after I get my system stable. I have to bump a little vcore for stability?

If you have a wolfdale it is very likely so. After a few weeks, you'll notice
prime stability failing. Then you just bump the vcore +.025 - +.050mv
and you should regain prime stability, and don't worry you should not have to
    bump it anymore after.
