Ok, that explain why the OVP mod doesn't help you.
We're looking at OCP (over current protection). Crippling the OCP is a bit trickier, first you need to find out where pin#35 on the regulator chip (L6713A) leads - unless you can solder on the leg... Anyways, pin#35 is the 3rd pin from right on the horizontal row of pins. The trace leads into a surface mount resistor somewhere near the regulator chip, very likely on the backside. Then measure resistance from the pad of the resistor to ground and report the measuring result.

I measured the resistance betwen pin 35 and the ground, but I didn't find te resistor at such value

largon or anyone else, may you tell me what are the usual max clocks with stock voltages for gpu and ram, plus at around 1.3V (idle)?

I've reached 1080 ram game stable on my Twintech ref PCB with Samsung chips, which seems to be the overall results for std PCBs, I've seen people saying they reach 1200 on others pcb with more layers. All of this with stock vdd.

I'm currently testing gpu a bit, at stock max 680 in game. idle temp 30°C and game temp 31°C.
    with 1.300V 31°C idle and 34°C in game (1.342V), at 700MHz gpu.

EDIT : stable game freqs are 846/1998/1080 (set as 847/2000/1080 in riva tuner) with 1.300V idle 1.342V loaded

    tralalal,
Good to hear you found the bugger.
What's the resistor value you ended up using for the mod? And did it help?

    Pacha,
Both my G92GT and GTS did around 702/1998/DDR-2000 at stock volts and the GTS does 864/2268/DDR-2106 gaming stable @ 1.36v vGPU and 1.90v vMEM.

    EvoCarlos,
The chip we're interested in is on the frontside. The rectangular chip with 14 legs, 7 on each side.

Anyone know how a OCP trigger looks in Vista? My screen freez, then flickers, and then I get to the desktop and the driver has stopped error comes up. Is this the OCP? I have done the OVP mod, and this error happens from at 900mhz core and 1.5-1.6v.

OCP makes the screen go black and the system has to be rebooted. What you are seeing is not enough voltage.

Ok, how high can we go on water? I though 1.6v was crazy.

It's stable at 864mhz with 1.38v, but not at 900 with 1.6v? Crappy cards?

I run at 850 with 1.45v to keep all games stable. Anything past 850 and the gains are minimal at best. Mine will do 900 stable at the same volts, but all 900 really does is look good in a screenshot. What the added volts does for me is allow me to clock the shaders higher and that is what gets me my added performance.

    EvoCarlos,
That's the chip. What does it read on it? / Please post a clear shot of it so that I can draw the mod on it.

How does your Qimonda GDDR3 overclock now, as it is?

And here are the measuring points:

    hey largon
the memory with out volt mod clocks to about 1040mhz with out errors but with the volt mod i cant get it higher than 1000 with the core @800 and shader @2000 driver crashes.

i've got a pretty wierd board, and have no freaking idea how to do a vmod on it, cause i can't even find the vgpu and/or vmem measure points...anybody able to help ? i have exactly the same PCB as the asus EN8800GT 1GB model, and actually, the bios for that card, works perfectly for my 8800GT (en8800gt/g/htdp/512M/a from asus"...no bios 1.1v mod worked....so far, i'm in the shallows with it, can't solve it ! my max clocks so far with a VF900 Zalman are 690core/1748shader/2172mem. Oh yea, i found a L6713A VRM chip on it, but the layout of the chip and the sorrounding resistors is very different from anything i've seen online, and I have spent more than 24 hours searching ....PLEASE HELP ! i'll upload some photos as soon as i can - and here they are -

    Hey
This is a question for Largon or Tralal. I performed both the OVP mod (with 2.2 kohm resistors), the gpu vmod with a pot, and a vmem mod with a #2 pencil.
My card is a reference msi g92 gts, and the ocp IS RIDICULOUS. It kicks on at around 1.25 volts and f*cks everything up. I really want to perform the ocp mod.
So i should just find the resistor connected to pin 35, measure it, solder on a pot connected to ground, and tune down?
THANKS SO MUCH LARGON for answering everyone's questions, and keeping this thread alive!!! I eagerly anticipate your reply!
    Max

edit- i have even flashed it with a modded bios to try and get the voltage fluctuations from happening, but still whenever i play a game, or anything the volts go up by about .5v. Anyone know a way around this? I'm not nearl concerned about this as i am about the ocp issue. Thanks!

As Los Alamos director J. Robert Oppenheimer watched the demonstration, he later said that a line from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita came to mind:
"I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."
Test director Kenneth Bainbridge in turn said to Oppenheimer, "Now we are all sons of b**ches." wiki

    Aldoinro,

For vGPU mod - please take a good pics of the following areas (L6713A chip and the two small chips on the backside):

If those read 0v, then try the opposite ends of the components, difficult to say due to the low res. There may be vMEM points too on the backside but, again, the pic is too low res to say for sure.

    fragmasterMax,
Im a little confused; you say your card is a reference board (reference = same as in 1st post) but I got the impression that you did the mods that were designed for tralalal's non-reference card. Those are two different cards and the mods aren't intercompatible. Might I see a pic of your card? And I'm not sure what you're trying to say here:

Thanks for your reply largon. I sent him a PM a week ago but I still got no answer. I got tired of waiting so I started on my own.

    I tried the following:

I soldered the middle pin of the 5K resistor to that yellow dot. The last pin of the resistor I put it on a screw in my case as a groundpoint. As soon as I turn on my PC everything works, but the voltage of the GPU is unaffected.
    What am I doing wrong?
