Tight timings at what frequency and voltage? The G17 BIOS fails to boot with CellShock 1800/1866 with anything above 800Mhz no matter the timings...

Using G20 and finding i cant get CL6 to work at all, even though the same RAM loves CL6 on Giga board.
WIll give G17 a shot to see if it helps, thanks Pete

    1. Can someone LINK me a BIOS update for the RETAIL version board!! I cannot find it on there site or online as well. Looking for the newest one out? I think it may be the G20? Just got my board wanting to go to the newest BIOS...

    2. Did anyone take off North & South bridge to reapply thermal compound in replace of the stock compound?

    Thanks

G17 should work fine. CL7 is really where the board shines though.

    I would much prefer to be running CL6 at 440 x 13 than CL7

NO differences between CL6 and CL7.....
17.BIN Beta is the fastest bios out there combined with JNL or GTR Ram chips PLUS it "boots easy".....

TIP: Bench with CL6 and some other mobo and see (prefaired winRar bench) in WinXP with 4 x cores......Then bench with BlackOps with CL7 and tight subtimings with LOWER FSB and see again.....
Also try the same with 2k1 benchie.....

The best and easiest so far is the G21 bios....A bit more FSB with the QUADS and a bit slower than 17 beta....

I went to the Foxconn site for the BLACKOPS BIOS section and it says 7A3F1P02 05-12-08 and under descriptions it says Modify ARC code? And again I have the RETAIL version board. So is the BETA BIOS G21 the same? Confused sorry..

    500MHz FSB with a Q9450 ?
I don't think so. Not in most cases I'd say ( at least with the currently available BIOSes, etc ).

You'd have a better chance at it with a P45 board.

Anyone from Foxconn want to comment on why the retail boards have aluminum tops on the Quantum Cooler ?

Anyone with any watercooling knowledge knows that mixing aluminum with copper is a bad idea.

Hmm all the hype leading up to the Blackops' release, and now the board is in the retail channel and there is a problem "QuantumForce Scholars" abandons ship?

Quantum Force Scholars help out a tonne with testing but they are not reps so don't hold them up on something they are not responsible for.

Then I have decided to replace the barbs such as I use 1/2. It was a surprise - chrome plated barbs were made with aluminum, and the black painted cover was also made using aluminum - there are some open spaces (non-painted) contacting with the water! Every water-cooling nOOb (including me) knows that it is better to avoid using different metals in the cooling circuit such as possibility of corrosion in this case due to free active ions of metal raises enormously ... There are 3 types of metal now in that circuit - chrome, copper and aluminum. How come that the advertised copper cover (it is easy to replace barbs with brass ones, therefore I don't care about them) http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/518 is replaced with aluminum one?

Crap, now I need to spend a lot of time making that stupid copper cover instead of paying for it additional $2-3 ... if Foxconn wanted to save on it.
I don't understand such things. Can anyone explain to me what is going on?
"Figure 3: Cover that will come with the motherboard (Foxconn is still deciding on which material to use, acrylic or copper)." And decided to use aluminum?

It is a different product than presented on Foxconn's website:

It means all-copper statement legally is relative not only to the block and it's cover (which is actually shown on the box's picture as a copper one), but to LN2 unit as well. Foxconn should hire a good lawyer to review their statements, especially here in the USA, or they will loose like Dell lost just recently ...

Having the BlackOps NB aircooled with the supplied tiny fan just don't cut it. its crazy loud, and grossly inefficient to say the least, with temps in excess of 47C IDLE. That leaves just the water cooling for us non-LN2 users, then this happens...

    WHY BLOODY ALUMINIUM???

    Any comments Quantum Force "Scholars"?

Have a read through the liquid cooling forum and you'll gain some watercooling facts.

Intel X38/X48 above 45-47 degree becomes very unstable(from my experience). Under water now with temps around 28 degree, so im fine for now, just need to watch the block from corrosion from the Aluminum...

Such as being installed it is located really close to the cooler, the pressure goes up, as well as CFM goes down according to the graph on specification and noise of flowing air with turbulence becomes like twice louder than 37dB in specification.

Please understand me correctly, I don't want to blame the board (having 790i before, LOL), but the air-cooling version of 4in1 Quantum definitely needs a modification for silent and more efficient operations, as well as to be "all-copper" for WC (or at least delrin-copper, acrylic-copper).

Sorry my fault. You guys just do the promotion, not the support.

I brought the Blackops because members of the Quantum Force team that had the board for testing posted great reviews and acheved nice overclocks with it, and I had a ty time with the Asus Striker II Extreme.
I thought that the Foxconn X48 seems to be getting great feedbacks and that there are many Quantum Force members here in xtremesystems forum, and we can fall back on them for support, since they have great contact with Foxconn, unlike ASUS, where we are pretty much on our own.

Now with the board in hand, and we found we are not getting what was advertised and paid very much for. The Quantum Force members are nowhere to be seen, and if they do appear, they avoid what they don't want to answer.
Why should I now buy Foxconn over ASUS now that the biggest reason I switched was not the reality? Asus seem to have a much greater customer base, and users help each other out.
Is this what we should look forward to with up coming Foxconn-QuantomForce products?

It is a bad idea, IF you use Straight distilled water. Otherwise its not a bad idea at all, if you maintain your system. (Yes like the manufacture says to do it)

Can try setting GTL Ref 1 lower than the rest as intel specs it to be higher but it seems to like being equal to the rest
For example +10,+5,+10,+10, or default,-5,default,default, Elmor found this to be better as did I.
